Blood Orange is a modern-day Dracula retelling about the “real-life” Dracula that inspired Bram Stoker。 This is a dark vampire romance with plenty of content warnings (check interior of book for CW) and while it is a spinoff of The Dark Eyes Duet, it can be read as a standalone。 It was previously referred to as "King of Darkness"

I can’t wait for book 2。 。。。more

DNF。 It had potential but it felt too rushed。 The characters failed to draw me in and the dialogue felt choppy。 No spark, no impact。 Two stars for the nice plot outline。

Blood Orange, what a great read!! The story of Dahlia and Valtu, it’s got reincarnation, spice, witches and vampires, my ideal book, with a great depth in the relationship between the 2 main characters and a hidden secret that threatens their bond, it ended in a cliffhanger and it might be the best cliffhanger ever!!!

Wow。 my jaw is on the floor, I’m sitting here mouth agape。 I knew this book would be a fun dark vampire romance but this blew all my expectations fully out of the water。 I totally understand why Karina decided to make this into a duet and I cannot wait for book two! It’s a super fast-paced read, the smut is A+ , but I definitely wasn’t expecting that level of emotional damage 😭I got got y’all, and loved every second of it 😂

This book is utterly spellbinding。So freaking spectacular!I always know when I read a Karina Halle book I’m in for a treat。And Blood Orange was a delicious treat indeed。She delivers a new original world of vampires and witches with a twist。I was either on pins and needles while reading or vigorously fanning myself。It’s intensity is thrilling and gripping。It’s sexy and steamy, the passion and the lust sizzle hot。I absolutely fell in love with Valtu。 He’s sexy and sultry with an air of mystery。 Hi This book is utterly spellbinding。So freaking spectacular!I always know when I read a Karina Halle book I’m in for a treat。And Blood Orange was a delicious treat indeed。She delivers a new original world of vampires and witches with a twist。I was either on pins and needles while reading or vigorously fanning myself。It’s intensity is thrilling and gripping。It’s sexy and steamy, the passion and the lust sizzle hot。I absolutely fell in love with Valtu。 He’s sexy and sultry with an air of mystery。 His allure is all encompassing and consuming。 Val is in the gray area of not be all good nor all evil。 He is someone you’d willingly let devour you。Dahlia has a complex life。 She is filled with rage and wants revenge。 I felt sad for her and my heart hurt for her and the situation that brought her to where she is at now。The moment she and Valtu met I could feel the tension coming to life。And things just get more intricate and the tension starts turning into a sexual attraction。Until it’s spiraling and there is no relenting。 Holy Flock their sex scenes are electrifying! They spark, ignite and explode。 DO NOT READ IN PUBLIC!While their physical interactions are hot and sexy as sin。 I also really liked their connection on spiritual as well。 I loved how they felt a bond with one another。I loved the storyline and plot it was riveting and captivating。 The characters are multidimensional and truly unforgettable。 While those two major things are what made this book outstanding。 The writing was superb! Everything written coming together magically and perfectly。Ms。 Halle’s attention to descriptions is amazing。 The details are so vivid her words come to life off the pages。 Everything I was reading I was seeing as a movie in my minds eye。 The graphics and imagery were so detailed it was like seeing, smelling and feeling everything described and taking place。 Now for that stunning cliffhanger that had me crying noooo! Yes December 29 can’t get here fast enough。One last thing I loved the title Blood Orange that is what first caught my attention then after reading the book the title is perfect。 。。。more

4。5 starsThis book was not what I was expecting。 Very spicy and steamy (not complaining 😏) and just wow。 I had no idea how things were going to work out at all and then the way it ended… mind seriously blown! I loved it all though! This one had me so intrigued from the get go! I loved the flashbacks of previous times, I loved how dang sexy Valtu was。 I loved that Dahlia was a witch and how that all played out! It was really awesome and I’m so freaking excited for book 2!

I started reading Karina Halle's books last year when "Nightwolf" came out。 Before that I didn't read any books from her。 Well, I am glad that I did it, because since then every new book of her that comes out, just gets better and better。 Her books are shattering me always in the good way and "Blood Orange" is no exception。I didn't know much about Valtu, because I haven't read "The Dark Eyes" duet (I already ordered it on paperback 😁)。 As far as I remember he was mentioned couple of times in Nig I started reading Karina Halle's books last year when "Nightwolf" came out。 Before that I didn't read any books from her。 Well, I am glad that I did it, because since then every new book of her that comes out, just gets better and better。 Her books are shattering me always in the good way and "Blood Orange" is no exception。I didn't know much about Valtu, because I haven't read "The Dark Eyes" duet (I already ordered it on paperback 😁)。 As far as I remember he was mentioned couple of times in Nightwolf, but that was it。I remember in one of Karina's Instagram posts about the book (when it was out already)。 In it she said that this was the most spicy book that she wrote。 And boy she wasn't wrong about it 😱。 I was really happy that I got the chance to meet Valtu properly, to see his life through the centuries and of course the only woman he ever loved。 Dhalia was like a 3 women, being in one。 Her soul was being reborn couple of times and every time she found him。 Only in that life, she wasn't a normal person, she was a witch and she wasn't remembering her her past life's。 But that didn't stopped her for feeling that invisible pull towards Valtu。 He was feeling the same, but he couldn't recognize her as well。 I do admit that that there was couple of times, when the spice was getting a bit too much, but I still loved it。 I was soo hooked in this, that I kept reading and reading till the book was finished。 And like any other Karina Halle's books I finished this one in no time。It does end on a mild cliff-hanger, but that makes it even more exciting about the 2nd book。Like Karina said about "Black Rose" coming out soon: "It's all about revenge, baby 😉!A very special thanks to Karina Halle and Social Butterfly PR for providing me with an ARC and giving me the chance to read Valtu and Dhalia's book。 。。。more

Lol I can wait until December… but just barely! This is Dracula’s, aka Valtu, book which is the first of a duet。 I was hooked from page one and obsessed with it thereafter。 Valtu was born a vampire – not making his change until he was 35 – but he never knew that he was a vampire。 He was adopted and it wasn’t until the love of his life, Mina who was also pregnant, was being killed by his father did his change take place。 Her last words was that she would find him again。 Unfortunately, it was too late to save her life。 Years later, he finds Mina again, except she has been reincarnated as Lucy。 They loved each other but he was afraid to tell her what he had become and who she was to him。 On her death bed after trying to birth their dead child, he told her and she in turn let him know that she remembered her past life and that she would once again find him again。 Fast forward to present day。 Valtu is a music professor at a university in Venice。 Dahlia, a witch and vampire slayer, has been sent in undercover to kill him along with a couple of other vampires who have a spell book。 She has always had a nightmare about being killed by her father while guards keep another screaming man away, but she never understood what it meant。 She meets Valtu and is instantly drawn to him。 She tries her best to intrigue him so she can get close enough to him to find out more about the book。 As she and Valtu get closer, they start a romantic relationship and holy cow – those are some HOT sex scenes!! They definitely get a bit kinky, lol, but I absolutely loved it!While together, she realizes that Valtu isn’t the horrible vampire that she has been led to believe, and she actually realizes that she is in love with him。 But how can she come clean to him about her being a witch/vampire slayer? She can’t figure out a way to tell him, so she keeps it a secret。 Meanwhile, those other two vamps who stole the spell book are up to NO GOOD! They are using it to open portals to other dimensions and letting evil into our world。 Valtu realizes what is going on but doesn’t know how to stop them。 It all comes to a head the evening of her winter performance when after speaking to Dr。 Van Helsing (btw I absolutely loved how it all ties into the Dracula book, and how Braum Stoker totally twisted the REAL story!) starts telling Dahlia about Mina and Lucy when she realizes what her dreams really meant – they were not dreams but her past lives!)。 Then the horrible part happens… oh my, that was really horrible and made me cry a bit! I won’t tell you ALL the juicy details though – you need to read this! The last chapter made my blood start humming…。 21 years later a vampire female is going through the change…。。 And WOW! I absolutely am salivating to find out what happens next! This book was so amazing! I 100% recommend this book… you don’t need to read any of the Dark Eyes series for this book to make sense, but I would say that it actually helps。 I am going to have such a book hangover now until December 29th! I received an ARC for my honest review。  。。。more

The spice was DELICIOUS! Then and thereafter。 。 。 Music lesson, blindfolded good morning *wink, wink* And that's all I'll say about that。𝒲𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝒾𝓈 𝒾𝓉 𝒶𝒷𝑜𝓊𝓉 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓈 𝓌𝑜𝓂𝒶𝓃 𝓉𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝐼 𝓌𝒶𝓃𝓉 𝓉𝑜 𝒹𝓇𝒶𝑔 𝒽𝑒𝓇 𝒹𝑜𝓌𝓃 𝓉𝑜 𝒽𝑒𝓁𝓁 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓂𝑒?All in all BLOOD ORANGE was a fast, enjoyable read。 If you’re interested in undying love, student/teacher romance, and human/witches and vampires f*cking then this book is for you。Happy Reading!Ashleywww。TheTatteredPage。com 。。。more

My mind is blown right now, especially when I think of the ending and what comes next。 I still have tear tracks on my face!I have no words for how hot or how amazing the story is。 Frankly it's the darkest romance I've read in a while。 I have to admit I totally forgot it was going to be dark going in, but Karina wrote everything in a way that respected boundaries while also pushing them。 The first chapter was a revelation and it really set the stage for every page that followed。 The story is inte My mind is blown right now, especially when I think of the ending and what comes next。 I still have tear tracks on my face!I have no words for how hot or how amazing the story is。 Frankly it's the darkest romance I've read in a while。 I have to admit I totally forgot it was going to be dark going in, but Karina wrote everything in a way that respected boundaries while also pushing them。 The first chapter was a revelation and it really set the stage for every page that followed。 The story is intense and fast paced。 I really liked how the book has dual point of view with both Dahlia and Valtu。 There's a lot happening in the book and I am really excited for Black Rose, because I have so many questions I need answered! 。。。more

Thank you so much Karina Halle and Social Butterfly PR for sending me this ARC!Blood Orange is the first book in Dracula Duet and I think it has just become hands down the best Dracula retelling I’ve ever read。 I’m speechless at how incredible it was and I’m still crying when I think about that ending, it was so perfect。 Dahlia is a witch and a vampire slayer。 She comes to Venice with only one purpose: to kill Valtu Aminoff, the vampire known as the Dracula。 She becomes his student at the conser Thank you so much Karina Halle and Social Butterfly PR for sending me this ARC!Blood Orange is the first book in Dracula Duet and I think it has just become hands down the best Dracula retelling I’ve ever read。 I’m speechless at how incredible it was and I’m still crying when I think about that ending, it was so perfect。 Dahlia is a witch and a vampire slayer。 She comes to Venice with only one purpose: to kill Valtu Aminoff, the vampire known as the Dracula。 She becomes his student at the conservatory and the more she gets to know him, the more she realizes he is not like the other vampires she met… and the more she feels attracted to this mysterious man。 But what Dahlia doesn’t know is that she is the reincarnation of the only two women Valtu has ever loved and who were both brutally taken from him。 With danger approaching, Dahlia and Val will need to fight to finally have a chance at a happy ending together。 First of all, I really like how Karina described vampires in Blood Orange, there are so many books about them, but she still managed to write them in an original and interesting way that kept me hooked。 This is mostly a romance book and I absolutely love Dahlia and Val’s romance, they were both strong but also vulnerable with each other and I think we got the perfect balance of tender moments and spicy ones (Karina wasn’t kidding when she said it is her most spicy book 🌶)。 And I loved the flashbacks where we got to see Val with Mina and Lucy and their heartbreaking stories, I don’t want to give away any spoilers but I was crying when it all came together at the end of the book。 Blood Orange is an amazing story about love that transcends time with a refreshing take on vampires that I recommend to all paranormal romance lovers, I guarantee you won’t regret reading it, it really is that good。 And now I don’t know how I’m supposed to wait for the second part of this duet, that ending was brutal and I can’t wait to see how Dahlia and Val’s story will end! 。。。more
