Summary

She’s always wanted a sense of belonging。 The last place she expects to find it is home。

Vale Lightner’s dreams turn to ash when the Pittsburgh bar she owns goes up in flames。 Just like the past she escaped, very little seems salvageable。 Facing unavoidable change, Vale returns to her hometown of Philadelphia to stay with her grandmother。

She knows that returning also means facing everything she left behind: a mother and stepfather who shunted her into the background from the day they married, and her charmed and favored half sister, Blythe, who has abandoned a perfect marriage and is now at a crossroads of her own。 Everyone has their secrets, and this reunited family racked by them is about to reach a crisis point。

For a mother and her two daughters, this reunion is a chance for closure, newfound love, and forgiveness。 As each of them reassesses her own memories of the past, only the truth can bring them together—in ways that could last forever。 From the bestselling author of The Passing Storm comes a poignant novel about family secrets, healing, and the hope of second chances。

Thank you to Goodreads giveaway for a chance to read a brighter flame。 I hope this author will continue this storyline with these characters to see what happens next。 This story had heartbreak and lots of mending with family members。 Family can be the worse targets for your feelings and I’m glad this story had a happy ending because a lot of times it’s not the case。 I recommend this story to others

Christine Nolfi has done it again! An absolute must read! If you have a sister there is always turmoil in growing up and becoming adults。 You may get along and you may not。 Ms。 Nolfi has written a wonderful story of two sisters at odds but have managed to overcome the hurt and misunderstandings of their childhood。 Great story!

5 Stars5 stars for A Brighter Flame。 With the bar that she owns with her father burned to the ground, Vale returns to Philadelphia at her grandmothers request。 Trying to reunite her family Iris is in for A hard battle as their family is totally dysfunctional。 Interesting and unique the way infertility is handled between sisters who have been estranged for years。

Another great by one of my favorite authors。 Christine Nolfi knows how to weave a story that keeps you wanting more。 It will keep you turning the pages and even at the end you will relate to the characters。 Feel the things they go through。 This one is full of family dynamics that made me jump between anger and forgiveness。 Vale did not have the close relationship with her mother that her sister Blythe had。 They were at constant war with each other。 Vale and Blythe were kind of close as children Another great by one of my favorite authors。 Christine Nolfi knows how to weave a story that keeps you wanting more。 It will keep you turning the pages and even at the end you will relate to the characters。 Feel the things they go through。 This one is full of family dynamics that made me jump between anger and forgiveness。 Vale did not have the close relationship with her mother that her sister Blythe had。 They were at constant war with each other。 Vale and Blythe were kind of close as children then they became very estranged。 Not close at all。 Their grandma Iris only wants them all to get along。 To love each other。 She's always tried to be there for Vale during her many ups and downs。 After a disaster strikes Vale does come back to her grandma's and there is Blythe, very upset to know that Vale going to be staying。These two sisters have gone through a lot and need to find their way back to each other again。 Forgiveness is the only way。 Vale has to learn to forgive her mother and her dad for the stupid things they did in younger years。 Also to forgive herself。 If she can do that she might find happiness。 This is the story of how two sisters find their way back to a place they need to be。 To each other in ways that will keep them close。 One married to a famous baseball picture。 The other only finding true love now。 What will these two do to keep each other in their lives。 Can Vale give Blythe what she wants and can Blythe forgive Vale for some of the crazy things she did in younger years。 Through a grandmother's love I believe all things may be possible for them。 If they can only find that common ground。This book is beautiful。 It's written in a way that hits you right in the heart。 It's a cozy story of family。 Family who needs to heal。 Needs to forgive。 It will keep you rooting for this family to find a way to fix their problems。 It hit me right in my heart。 I could relate to a lot of things that happened in this story。 It felt like I was reading a story about a close friend。 A relative。 A sister。 Vale does make the ultimate sacrifice for her sister。 Read and find out what that is。 Thank you #NetGalley, #ChristineNolfi, #LakeUnionPublishers for this ARC。 This is my own true thoughts about this book。5 huge stars and the highest recommendation possible。 Always read a book by this author。 She's good at what she does。 。。。more

This was a powerful novel about families。 Sisters Vale and Blythe haven’t gotten along in years。 When their grandmother asks both of them to visit, they unknowingly will see each other for the first time in years。 Vale has been dealing with loss and now a change in her life。 And Blythe has her own personal struggles。 Now that they have been forced to see each other, they are also realizing exactly how what happened when they were younger has effected both of their lives。

She has written more books in a shorter period of time than I’ve read and reviewed books…。She is a ‘book-writing’ powerhouse queen!! I kid you not。 Anything I can do — Christine can do better, and faster!!!I couldn’t admire Christine Nolfie more —a very “Glass is Half Full” person!! Yep—she shines the light on possibles…。making me believe that sometimes wishes really do come true。 I’m genuinely moved by this book - (yes, maybe a little over-zealous— but it’s been awhile since I’ve re-visited Nolfie-land - and loved it)…so appease me。And/ yet…。I think everyone of my woman friends would fully enjoy their time with this book as much as me。 It’s LIFE!The storytelling has an uncanny ability to let the human dilemmas play themselves out。 I cared for the characters - their predicaments and challenges —As for Christine Nolfie ……she is a compassionate, irresistible, writer with genuine dexterity。 Her stories make me talk to myself……and think about life from many points of view。 A bread & butter comfort novel。 。。。more

A wonderful story of misunderstanding, family dysfunction, the past and finally understanding。 I loved the sisters but it definitely took a while to come to understand the parents。 So hard to read about children who are so scarred because of things beyond their control that happen when they are young, but so inspiring to watch their path to understanding and happiness!

A Brighter Flame by Christine Nolfi was an outstanding book! I want to tell you everything! For every sentence I’ve written in this review, I’ve deleted two。 SECRETS! There are a lot of secrets carried around by these characters who are very unique。 Maybe they are unique because we learn more than one side to a lot of them。 Some of them when pushed into a corner tell the whole story whether you want to hear it or not and probably for the first time。 Some of the problems we think are being dealt with are not the problem at all and turn out to be something completely different。 I know I’m kind of blind sometimes and read stories as black and white so, some things come as a surprise to me。 Then I go back and remember there were clues all along。 If you love good family drama, a great story and one that feels fresh, then you need to give A Brighter Flame a try。 This is the first book by Christine Nolfi that I have read。 I loved it and it won’t be my last。 She has several books out for those who like to binge on the previously released books。 I’m looking forward to her next book and the next!Don’t forget to support the authors you love by leaving a review!  。。。more
