Summary

A man with six small children and a wife who walked out。

A woman who lost everything and has no place left to go。

With the ink barely dry on his divorce papers, Chris Tooley isn’t sure what God has in store for him, but he knows he needs help with his kids。 So, on the recommendation of a friend, he hires a nanny。

Gretchen Mavis invested everything in her day care business and lost it all when the building burned down and the landlord had no insurance。 She’s willing to take any job she can get。 Even one out in the middle of nowhere that includes six energetic kids, two even more energetic dogs and a herd of milk goats – wait。 Maybe she’s not that desperate。 She’s about to walk out of the interview, but there’s something in this man’s eyes that tells her he’s just looking for someone to believe in him。

Gretchen knows a good man when she sees one – one just like her dad – but will her faith be enough to convince Chris she’s more than a temporary addition to his family?

Six kids yearning to be loved, an auction barn, a small herd of dairy goats and a cozy town full of kind-hearted family and friends who have faith that, with enough cake, kisses and Christmas, there’s a happily ever after in the chaos。

Return to Freedom, Colorado and enjoy the faith, friendships, and forever-afters of the Heroes of Freedom Ridge in this Christian Christmas romance。 Faith in the Hero is #13 in the Freedom Ridge series, but each book can be read as a standalone。

What a wonderful picture of how God can take a single woman, a divorced dad, and six kids making them into a family。 I loved the personalities of the kids, the romance, and the way Chris and Gretchen came together。 Lovely book。 I received a courtesy copy。 This is my honest review。

Faith in the HeroI liked this inspirational heartwarming love story that brought Chris and his six children together with Gretchen。 I loved the characters especially the children。 Even though their mother left the family and divorced their father, they were well behaved and helped their father keep the family together。 I admire Chris for not being bitter toward his ex-wife, and for putting God first even when homeschooling his children。 I highly recommend this beautiful clean Christian romance。 Faith in the HeroI liked this inspirational heartwarming love story that brought Chris and his six children together with Gretchen。 I loved the characters especially the children。 Even though their mother left the family and divorced their father, they were well behaved and helped their father keep the family together。 I admire Chris for not being bitter toward his ex-wife, and for putting God first even when homeschooling his children。 I highly recommend this beautiful clean Christian romance。 I received an ARC but I also bought it, and this is my voluntary and honest review。 。。。more

Faith in the Hero This is another great book by Jessie Gussman and a wonderful addition to the Freedom Ridge series。 Gretchen owned her own childcare business but when the building she rented burned down she lost everything。 Chris has six children and needs a nanny desperately to help him be able to work full time and take care of his family。 Will Gretchen be able to convince Chris that all women do not walk away?

Faith in the Hero by Jessie Gussman is a great addition to the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series。 Chris has six children and now he is the owner of goats。 He is in need of some help。 Gretchen just lost the business she worked so hard for and is searching for what God wants her to next。 Gretchen applies for the Nanny job that Chris is offering but when she arrives for her interview and sees the goats as well she is sure this isn’t the place for her but God has other plans for them both。 Beautifully Faith in the Hero by Jessie Gussman is a great addition to the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series。 Chris has six children and now he is the owner of goats。 He is in need of some help。 Gretchen just lost the business she worked so hard for and is searching for what God wants her to next。 Gretchen applies for the Nanny job that Chris is offering but when she arrives for her interview and sees the goats as well she is sure this isn’t the place for her but God has other plans for them both。 Beautifully written, this book is both entertaining and inspirational。 。。。more

Another sweet romance from Jessie GussmanAnd if you heard that title in Jay Dress’ voice, you have been listening to her audio books!Gretchen lost her business due to a fire and a landlord without insurance。 Chris has 6 children and no wife, and manages to accidentally buy a herd of goats。 God can bring together the broken, the wounded, and the somewhat crazy and make something beautiful out of it。 A sweet book。A big thank you to the author for providing an ARC copy for me to proof and review。

Ohh。。I loved the beginning, and how they allow God to direct their path。 This book was well written and definitely worth the read。

Chris and Gretchen live in different States。 They are both desperate for things to change but faced with the reality of trying to make that change together, it seems impossible! Especially when six children and a herd of goats join in the chaos。 Another Jessie Gussman winner!

Excellent start to this season in FreedomTotally different Hero of Freedom Ridge than the previous 12 books in that we only briefly visit Freedom and none of the holiday activities。 My one issue as a nurse is。 Early in the story Chris reflects on his daughter Abigail getting a scratch on her foot and needing stitches。 Scratches don’t require stitches。 I love how the story realistically portrayed a chaotic large family that was hurting, yet happy together and wanted to be in Gods will。 4。5 stars Excellent start to this season in FreedomTotally different Hero of Freedom Ridge than the previous 12 books in that we only briefly visit Freedom and none of the holiday activities。 My one issue as a nurse is。 Early in the story Chris reflects on his daughter Abigail getting a scratch on her foot and needing stitches。 Scratches don’t require stitches。 I love how the story realistically portrayed a chaotic large family that was hurting, yet happy together and wanted to be in Gods will。 4。5 stars rounded up to 5 because I loved this series and Jessie Gussman adds another depth to it。 。。。more

Oh, wow, what a great story。 Six children and now a herd of goats, that’s what Gretchen walks into for an interview。 Very inspiring how God works everything out if we let Him。 I love how Chris fully interacts with and enjoys all his children, not forgetting to include God into the mix。 You will not regret getting this one。I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review。

The next season of Heroes of Freedom Ridge - such a great series and group of authors。 You can't go wrong with these!Faith in the Hero is a wonderful story about finding our place, our home and letting God guide that choice。 It's the romance that brews between Chris and Gretchen, in-between 6 children, a farm, a herd of goats and some dogs with a splash of humour needed to navigate life。 As always, there are some biblical principles and gems woven into the story, as only Jessie Gussman can do。 T The next season of Heroes of Freedom Ridge - such a great series and group of authors。 You can't go wrong with these!Faith in the Hero is a wonderful story about finding our place, our home and letting God guide that choice。 It's the romance that brews between Chris and Gretchen, in-between 6 children, a farm, a herd of goats and some dogs with a splash of humour needed to navigate life。 As always, there are some biblical principles and gems woven into the story, as only Jessie Gussman can do。 This is a sweet romance (squeaky clean folks), that is part of a series but standalone story。 Characters from the other Freedom Ridge stories do appear, so it is nice if you have read their stories but definitely not necessary。 * I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book。 。。。more

I've been waiting for Chris's story ever since he was introduced in Friends with the Hero。 Talk about going through a rough patch! Raising six kids on his own since his wife walked out on them has clearly done a number on him, and his confidence has taken a hit。 That's why I loved the title from the start, as well as how much Gretchen helped him。 Not only because this book features the nanny trope, but also because she's been going through a tough spot herself, yet even through the questions and I've been waiting for Chris's story ever since he was introduced in Friends with the Hero。 Talk about going through a rough patch! Jessie writes the best swoony heroes (and kisses 😉), and Chris was definitely kind, gentle, and dedicated to his children (who were a hoot yet also responsible), as well as to make things work with Gretchen。 I loved their commitment and communication (so there was no unnecessary drama there), which made for some really endearing yet vulnerable conversations。 I definitely want to see if all the hints at side characters ending up together do actually happen。 Oh, and it was definitely nice to see past characters like Patience and Tuck, and how they're doing now。 :) ~ 4。5 stars! 。。。more

This is a great addition to the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series but is awesome all by itself。 It isn't necessary to read the others in this series in order to enjoy this book。 It's a clean romance with a good bit of humor thrown in。 I loved the six young children but they are so well behaved, I wonder how Chris did it。 My five were always into something! Adding in the goats really added to the story and chasing them around the barn is something that all goat farmers experience at least once。 I lo This is a great addition to the Heroes of Freedom Ridge series but is awesome all by itself。 It isn't necessary to read the others in this series in order to enjoy this book。 It's a clean romance with a good bit of humor thrown in。 I loved the six young children but they are so well behaved, I wonder how Chris did it。 My five were always into something! Reluctantly, he runs an ad, but not one single soul has responded。 Unbeknownst to him, the Lord is doing a mighty work in one Gretchen, the Nanny! Her Daycare business, which she had sank all of her money into, has burned to the ground, and her awful landlord did not have any insurance on the building!! She now has nothing to show for all the years she has pinched every penny and saved every dime! Then, she runs across Chris’s ad。 The Lord speaks to her and says “Go”。 She talks it over with her best friend, because this job is a 12 hour trip from where she currently lives! She finally obeys the Lord and calls and sets up an interview! When she arrives, there is so much commotion coming from the front part of their barn, so she peeks in and finds 6 kids, 12 goats, and 2 men, all hollering at the goats and trying to catch them, with no success。 Chris and Gretchen’s eyes meet and he is aghast to realize that he has forgotten their appointment!! One of the goats walks right up to Gretchen and touches her arm with her nose。 He yells ”I’m sorry, I had to buy these goats last night (which is another hilarious story), and I forgot our interview!” She looked around, turned around, and walked right back out to her car。 She was very sad, and walked slowly out to her car, and all of the kids were begging their dad to go explain to her and beg her to stay。 Then they took off after her。 She was slowly driving away and she could see their little bodies chasing her car down the road。 She wanted to turn back around, but she just couldn’t。 She drove into the tiny little town of Freedom Ridge, where it seemed everyone knew where she had been and why Chris would have forgotten their appointment-and why she is going to love living here in Freedom Ridge! So, much later that evening, (after she prayed to the Lord and they talked about how she knew He wouldn’t send her all that way for nothing and, was it her imagination, or did she feel an immediate attraction to this single dad and did he look at her the same way-like he felt something toward her, too,) she drove back out to the big old house and farm。 He was on the porch with all of his children lying around in different spots, and he was reading out loud to them for their quiet time。 She sat on the steps and listened to him read。 It was wonderful to see and hear him loving his children this way。 And, he had been home schooling them ever since his wife left。 He worked from home, on a top secret job, that he couldn’t discuss。 This book reminded me of “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies” or a book similar to that, but it was even better! Chris and Gretchen made a perfect team, caring for, cooking, teaching, and loving his children, and fairly quickly, each other!! It was soooo great! I hope you all buy it and read it! It’s such a dopamine happy, feel good treasure!! It was a quick read for me because it WAS so good! It was better than 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‘s! 🙏♥️ 。。。more

When Gretchen's daycare burned down and she found her landlord didn't have insurance, it felt like a slap in the face from God。 Then, she was reminded that sometimes God uses even the horrible events to deliver something even better。 Could that be the case this time?
