Excellent reference material。I was impressed with these two books they were an excellent overview of the wars。 I liked that they had included such a great insight into the reasons why the wars occurred。 When I first studied the wars way back in high school we received none of the information that this collection offered and from what my grandson told me the way of teaching it has not changed。 That is a shame as these wars played such a role in our history。 I highly recommend this collection it i Excellent reference material。I was impressed with these two books they were an excellent overview of the wars。 I liked that they had included such a great insight into the reasons why the wars occurred。 When I first studied the wars way back in high school we received none of the information that this collection offered and from what my grandson told me the way of teaching it has not changed。 That is a shame as these wars played such a role in our history。 I highly recommend this collection it is very well done。 。。。more

This is a well written book which covers both World War1 and 2。The book not only covers the Wars themselves but the circumstances, climate etc leading up to the start of the wars。 Wonderful images and maps of those times are included。 I just wished I’d had this book a few years ago when I was writing a play to commemorate the first world war。 It would have certainly helped with the research。 The chain reaction following the assassination of the archduke Franz Ferdinand is described in great deta This is a well written book which covers both World War1 and 2。The book not only covers the Wars themselves but the circumstances, climate etc leading up to the start of the wars。 Wonderful images and maps of those times are included。 I just wished I’d had this book a few years ago when I was writing a play to commemorate the first world war。 It would have certainly helped with the research。 The chain reaction following the assassination of the archduke Franz Ferdinand is described in great detail day by day。 I had also never really understood the Italy position in joining with Germany but this was explained。 I would have liked to have seen more on the excellent poetry that came out from WW1。 WW2 opens with providing a clearer understanding of how the second world war started just 21 years later and a brief recap on WW1。 Again the maps and images are quite simply excellent。 Easy to read but just wished more had been included on the holocaust。 A great book to also dip in and out of to get an overview of certain battles for example ‘the battle of the bulge’。 I would have liked the book to include more on the Enigma code breaking that also took place during WW2。 All in all a very useful book for research。 。。。more
