If you have young children afraid of monsters。 This is a good book to read。 It tells how the monster wants to be friends and really doesn't want to scare children。 If you have young children afraid of monsters。 This is a good book to read。 It tells how the monster wants to be friends and really doesn't want to scare children。 。。。more

Cute, short picture book。 The main character gets the roll of Ninja in his school plays which makes him brave enough to catch his monster。 When he catches his monster, things don't turn out quite as expected when the monster just wants to play。 Cute, short picture book。 The main character gets the roll of Ninja in his school plays which makes him brave enough to catch his monster。 When he catches his monster, things don't turn out quite as expected when the monster just wants to play。 。。。more

We use this book in my classroom to talk about STEM。 It is a great book to read for Halloween。 I use this book as an opener for our Halloween stem unit where students work to build traps to catch a monster in the school。 Students also use this as a how-to writing piece with their steps。 My students loved the illustrations of the book!

A young boy is excited that he won the lead role in his school play, but he has bigger fish to fry。 He's going to catch the monster that lives in his closet。 This fun filled rhyming tale of facing one's fears, and overcoming them is a good read。 A young boy is excited that he won the lead role in his school play, but he has bigger fish to fry。 He's going to catch the monster that lives in his closet。 This fun filled rhyming tale of facing one's fears, and overcoming them is a good read。 。。。more

Son loved it as did I。 I really like the illustrations。 Our favorite part was the unexpected monster fart。 Changed the whole time right in the middle of the story which made us enjoy it more。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This story is cute for Halloween。 A young boy is a ninja in a school play and decides that he can finally take the monster that hide in his closet every night。 The young boy goes into the closet and fights the monster, only to find out that he was friendly all along。 They begin to play and become friends。 The boy is no longer afraid。 This story has rhyming, but some of the rhythm is off when read。 The theme of the story is cute and would be a good reading lesson for Halloween。

The book had a super cute riddle! This is perfect for little kids to read because it is so bright, colorful, and easy to read。 Kids will learn that if this boy was able to become brave and strong because he had a role as a ninja master at his school, maybe kids can also pretend to be a superhero and become more confident in themselves。

This is the weakest of the "How to Catch" series。 It didn't have the same heart and delivery as the other ones that I have read with the kids。 This is the weakest of the "How to Catch" series。 It didn't have the same heart and delivery as the other ones that I have read with the kids。 。。。more

Used the audio with this book (the music and narration was awesome), and it made for one very cool, very silly story time。

My 6y/o is starting to read this on his own (with some help) and just loves the burps and lava pie。 It definitely speaks to child humor and has a good rhyming scheme to help them along。 The art is adorable and my son really loves the spread that looks more comic book like。 He picks this up every few days out of his own interest to read。

Dallin Christensen

Cute but not as much substance as I would have liked。

Valerie Doherty

Fun read with cute illustrations。

I rarely give five stars, but my four year old grandson rated this book and I’m not going to argue with him! He loved it and has requested that we read it multiple times already。 It’s silly and funny and perfect to read aloud!

I liked it because the monster scared the ninja and he set up so many traps and then I also liked it because the little ninja became friends with the little monster and went to his house。

A young ninja faces his bedtime fears of the monster in his closet。。。What will the outcome be? Is the monster really as scary as they seem? Read and find out! A cute read aloud, bedtime story, and good for Halloween, though this story doesn't have any direct tie-in's to Halloween。 This is one of the only "How to catch" series that doesn't feature elaborate traps of how to catch a monster, but more about facing ones' fears。 A young ninja faces his bedtime fears of the monster in his closet。。。What will the outcome be?
