The stories in anthologies are always a bit too short to get enough into the characters to have developed a powerful story, but every author likely has some stories in them that deserve to be told, and this seemed like that。 It was three stories written by THREE excellent authors, so it was worth the read, but just that, short and a bit underdeveloped。

I have read a lot of Traci Hunter Abramson's work and it was nice to meet up with Doug Valdez in Secrets of St。 Augustine。 Some authors can do novellas well and others not so much, but I think Ms。 Abramson Hunter does them extremely well。 I don't feel ripped off, or that I am missing anything in the plot, character, etc。。。I've never read anything by Clair M。 Poulson but In Plain Sight just wasn't my cup of tea, I found it hard to connect with the characters, plot, etc。。。Paige Edwards was another I have read a lot of Traci Hunter Abramson's work and it was nice to meet up with Doug Valdez in Secrets of St。 Augustine。 Some authors can do novellas well and others not so much, but I think Ms。 Abramson Hunter does them extremely well。 I don't feel ripped off, or that I am missing anything in the plot, character, etc。。。I've never read anything by Clair M。 Poulson but In Plain Sight just wasn't my cup of tea, I found it hard to connect with the characters, plot, etc。。。Paige Edwards was another new-to-me author and I will be looking for more by her。 Otherwise, Sinister Secrets was good! 。。。more

I liked this collection of suspense novellas。 I liked how each of the stories were so unique and well written。 I liked how each of the stories drew me in so I wanted to keep reading and find out who was behind everything。 I would read more stories set in each of these locations。 I didn’t want the stories to end so that shows to me that they were well done。I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors。  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed a I liked this collection of suspense novellas。 I liked how each of the stories were so unique and well written。 I liked how each of the stories drew me in so I wanted to keep reading and find out who was behind everything。 I would read more stories set in each of these locations。 I didn’t want the stories to end so that shows to me that they were well done。I received a complimentary book from publishers, publicists, and or authors。  A review was not required and all opinions and ideas expressed are my own。 。。。more

I love Novellas。 These ones were perfect。 In Secrets of St Augustine we meet a young girl who needs serious help。 Who better to help than Doug Valdez who stumbles across the situation? We meet Doug in other Abramson books, but this definitely puts him in his best light。 It's a race that kept my heart rate up and turning every page。 It's a good thing that this one wasn't a longer story, I am not sure I could have stood the suspense, it was that good! The second offering is Hounded, where we run in I love Novellas。 These ones were perfect。 In Secrets of St Augustine we meet a young girl who needs serious help。 Who better to help than Doug Valdez who stumbles across the situation? Someone is out to kill his boss, Detective Bob Lyman。 On top of this, the detectives are trying to help attorney Kimberly Cantor prove her client is innocent, and that’s just the beginning。 Renn and Kimberly are definitely likable, but with so many things happening at once and several characters to keep track of, I felt like I didn’t get to know these characters as well and feel as strong a connection to them。 Their romance was an unexpected bonus。 With an ample amount of action, dirty cops, a creepy mine, some nasty killers, and a hint of romance, this story definitely has a lot packed into it。All in all, a great suspenseful collection for old and new fans alike。 Definitely one anthology you’ll want to put on your TBR list! Sinister Secrets includes three suspense novellas。 Each is well written and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat。Traci Hunter Abramson - Secrets of St。 Augustine takes the reader to France。 Doug Valdez, an FBI agent who appears from time to time in the Guardian series, gets an adventure that includes his wife and daughter and a young woman who goes to school at St。 Augustine。 Family relationships rather than new love features in this novella。As a novella the solution to the problems faced Sinister Secrets includes three suspense novellas。 Each is well written and keeps the reader on the edge of their seat。Traci Hunter Abramson - Secrets of St。 Augustine takes the reader to France。 Doug Valdez, an FBI agent who appears from time to time in the Guardian series, gets an adventure that includes his wife and daughter and a young woman who goes to school at St。 Augustine。 Family relationships rather than new love features in this novella。As a novella the solution to the problems faced is only shown in an abbreviated fashion。 Clair Poulson - Hounded introduces the reader to Renn, an army ranger turned private detective。 There is barely a moment when dangerous action isn’t happening。 Paige Edwards - In Plain Sight acquaints us with special agent Cody and Jaclyn。 Jaclyn’s mother is a hoot。 Love the action of this story and the relationship that develops between Cody and Jaclyn。All three novellas were excellent and act as a lovely introduction to these authors if you’ve never read them before。 Or a little something to get you though until the next book comes out。Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this book。 。。。more

This book has three suspense novellas by three authors。 Overall, I really liked this book! I have my favorite story, of course, but I enjoyed each novella in this collection。 I love suspense stories, and these were all good! Here are my thoughts on each novella:Secrets of St。 Augustine By Traci Hunter Abramson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I was hooked on this street from the first page! I wish it was a full length novel, but it’s so good even with the shorter length。 I really liked seeing Doug and Jill Valdez, who This book has three suspense novellas by three authors。 Overall, I really liked this book! I wish it was a full length novel, but it’s so good even with the shorter length。 I really liked seeing Doug and Jill Valdez, who have been in other books, again, but you don’t have to have those books to enjoy this one。 I do want to reread Reagan’s story now though。 Thirteen-year-old Layla has been at boarding school for years, ever since her parents died in a plane crash。 She keeps hoping her grandmother will show up to take her away on school breaks, but she never does。 When she decides to ask the headmaster one more time if she can go to Washington DC with her best friend, she overhears a conversation that sends her running for her life。 Hounded by Clair M。 Poulson⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️This story had me hooked from the start, as well。 I really liked it, but not quite as much as Traci’s, but that’s ok。 It is very intense and suspenseful with several mysteries going on at once Renn retired from the army, and wants to be a private investigator, even though he knows most of his days won’t be terribly exciting-he’s sure he’ll mostly be doing background checks and following cheating spouses。 However, his new boss is receiving threatening notes, and the agency has been hired to prove a girl is wrongly advised of murder。 In Plain Sight by Paige Edwards⭐️⭐️⭐️This book wasn’t quite as suspenseful as the other two, but I still liked it。 It definitely has suspense and excitement, but most of it happens towards the end。 It’s not a bad thing; just different than the other two in this collection。 Jaclyn has had it with men, so when a man flirts with her during her morning shift at a coffee shop, she doesn’t really go for it, even though he seems like a nice guy。 FBI agent Cody had his heart broken in the past and isn’t looking for romance, but when he sees Jaclyn, he might be willing to risk his heart again。 When Jaclyn’s life is in danger after she accidentally interrupts Cody on assignment, it will be up to him to keep her safe。 Sinister Secrets will be available September 1, 2022。 I received an advanced copy from the authors。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more

This collection of three suspense novellas is totally worth the read。 I was hooked from the very start with Traci Hunter Abramson’s story。 Using already loved characters from earlier works you can’t help but love them even more after finishing the story and hope it won’t be long until you cross paths with them again。Clair M Poulson also gets you sitting at the edge of your seat has a team of PI’s try to solve a case for a client and to solve the mystery behind who is after the boss。Paige Edwards This collection of three suspense novellas is totally worth the read。 I was hooked from the very start with Traci Hunter Abramson’s story。 Using already loved characters from earlier works you can’t help but love them even more after finishing the story and hope it won’t be long until you cross paths with them again。Clair M Poulson also gets you sitting at the edge of your seat has a team of PI’s try to solve a case for a client and to solve the mystery behind who is after the boss。Paige Edwards finishes the collection off with an intense story of drug deals and romance。 All three stories felt new and exciting。 Plus you get the perks of having short, good, quick reads。 I highly recommend this read。 。。。more

Three suspense novellas from Covenant Communications authors。 By far my favorite is Traci Hunter Abramson’s story Secrets of St。 Augustine (5 stars)。 It is action packed and I thought would be a very good read for YA audience (and up) as the heroine is only 15。 I am a fan of Abramson’s writing and have read the majority of her books。 Hounded (3 stars) by Clair Poulson was interesting but there is a lot going on。 Old enemies, corrupt cops, murder cover-up, kidnapping, lawyer, P。I。s, etc。 I though Three suspense novellas from Covenant Communications authors。 By far my favorite is Traci Hunter Abramson’s story Secrets of St。 Augustine (5 stars)。 It is action packed and I thought would be a very good read for YA audience (and up) as the heroine is only 15。 I am a fan of Abramson’s writing and have read the majority of her books。 Hounded (3 stars) by Clair Poulson was interesting but there is a lot going on。 Old enemies, corrupt cops, murder cover-up, kidnapping, lawyer, P。I。s, etc。 I thought it was a little ridiculous that the bad guys drive almost over 3 hours to find a mine to get rid of some bodies。 Idaho is remote enough。 But I did learn there is an Atlanta, Idaho。 In Plain Sight (4 stars) by Paige Edwards involves an FBI agent going into training and undercover。 I appreciated that Edwards did duel POV and a spark of romance。 I was disappointed that two of the books involved corrupt officers, although the situations were different。All in all a fun read。 There is a lot of story packed in all three novellas。 They are clean for language and steaminess。 Thank you to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

Sinister Secrets Secrets of St。 AugustineTraci Hunter Abramson 5/5So much action packed into a short story, I only wish this could’ve been longer。 While it did break my heart reading about Layla’s family situation, it was great to see a story that had a realistic “happily ever after。” The presence, or lack, of family was a great part of the plot that I really enjoyed。 And the suspense had me reading this book in one sitting, it was great。 HoundedClair M。 Poulson 3/5 While this book did have some Sinister Secrets Secrets of St。 AugustineTraci Hunter Abramson 5/5So much action packed into a short story, I only wish this could’ve been longer。 While it did break my heart reading about Layla’s family situation, it was great to see a story that had a realistic “happily ever after。” The presence, or lack, of family was a great part of the plot that I really enjoyed。 And the suspense had me reading this book in one sitting, it was great。 HoundedClair M。 Poulson 3/5 While this book did have some good action scenes, I didn’t love it。 A few times it was confusing to me with the threats agains Bob and all the things going on with Alex。 This story had a lot of potential, but personally I didn’t enjoy it as much as other books I’ve read by Clair; it does always impress me the knowledge he has in regards to police work so that was a positive in this novella。 In Plain SightPaige Edwards 5/5I loved that even though this was a novella, Paige still took the time to do dual point of view。 Dual is my absolute favorite and just adds so much more to the story。 And even though this was a short story, I felt completely happy with how the story unfolded, and then ended。 It was just the perfect length, and a nice quick read that’s easy to enjoy。 In fact, this is probably my favorite of the three novellas included in this book。I received an advanced copy through NetGalley。 All thoughts and opinions are my own。 。。。more
