Summary

Good ol' Ribsy's ever-curious mind has always gotten him into trouble, but this time he may have gone too far。 After a comical turn of events, Ribsy finds himself in the wrong station wagon with the wrong children。

Ribsy will do anything to find Henry, but there's plenty of excitement to be had along the way—and scoring a touchdown for a local high school team is only part of the fun!

For kids looking for a fast, funny dog story, Ribsy is a winner。

I read this when my brother brought it home from his school library。 It was fun and enjoyable to read。💥 Recommended。

I have to base this review off of Joshua's reaction to the book。 He is 9 and dreaded me reading it。 However, the ending had him excited。 I have to base this review off of Joshua's reaction to the book。 He is 9 and dreaded me reading it。 However, the ending had him excited。 。。。more

This is the final book in the Henry Huggins series。 Part of it is told from Ribsy’s point of view。 My daughter and I enjoyed reading about Ribsy’s adventures and wondering how and if he would make it back home to Henry。 We are sad this series is over。 They are dated books, but still fun to read!

This is my original copy of the book but I didn't remember the story at all, so it was a nice read。 I loved (and fondly remember many random details about) Socks (1973), so I knew Cleary had a great way of writing animals, but I was especially drawn to Ribsy after being with him so much in the Henry Huggins books。Ribsy gets lost from the Huggins family on a rainy day so he has trouble picking up their scent to find his way home。 Another family takes him home, further away from Henry's house than This is my original copy of the book but I didn't remember the story at all, so it was a nice read。 I loved (and fondly remember many random details about) Socks (1973), so I knew Cleary had a great way of writing animals, but I was especially drawn to Ribsy after being with him so much in the Henry Huggins books。Ribsy gets lost from the Huggins family on a rainy day so he has trouble picking up their scent to find his way home。 Another family takes him home, further away from Henry's house than Ribsy has ever been before。 It seems like it'll be impossible for Ribsy to find his way back because different people keep taking him in。 Every chapter has a lot of adventure and suspense。 。。。more

I'm fairly certain I read Henry & Ribsy as a kid, but this was my first jaunt into the larger catalog of Henry Huggins。 It was just lovely。 Ribsy had a grand adventure。 Plus, it's just quaint af。Reading this at bedtime with my daughter was lovely。 Giving Mitch & Amy a try next。 I'm fairly certain I read Henry & Ribsy as a kid, but this was my first jaunt into the larger catalog of Henry Huggins。 It was just lovely。 Ribsy had a grand adventure。 Plus, it's just quaint af。Reading this at bedtime with my daughter was lovely。 Giving Mitch & Amy a try next。 。。。more

Best kind of read aloud for the kids (11, 8, and 3)。 They couldn’t wait to find out what happened to Ribsy in each chapter。

I enjoy this book because it has details and great characters but what I dis-like about this book is that it lacks action and I feel like the author is hiding some bigger and better details than your average details but besides that I enjoy 😉 it maybe you guys will agree with me or not agree with me but read just for me! - Gravity falls fan

Sometimes when we read books together as a family it ends up being a painful experience for me。。。 however, we all enjoyed Ribsy!

I read part of this series as a kid, but I had never read this book。 I just finished reading all of them with my 9 year old daughter, and we both loved them!

I felt so bad for the dog!

At the end Henry found ribsy。 My favorite chapter was ribsy goes to a football game and ribsy tackled somebody so that the team won the game。 it was funny。

Read this out loud to my kids。 They loved it and it was a good fit for a read aloud: no clumsy dialogue。 Not much emotion or depth and not one I'll read to them again。 Read this out loud to my kids。 They loved it and it was a good fit for a read aloud: no clumsy dialogue。 Not much emotion or depth and not one I'll read to them again。 。。。more

Cute story made even better by an awesome narrator。 I recommend the audiobook--it's narrated by Neil Patrick Harris。 :) It was fun for our family road trip。 Cute story made even better by an awesome narrator。 I recommend the audiobook--it's narrated by Neil Patrick Harris。 :) It was fun for our family road trip。 。。。more

This is my favorite of all of the Beverly clearly books。 It’s the best and I still reread it。 I’m a girl but I like he Henry Huggins series way better than all of the other serieses or series’s。。。。

My seven and nine year old sons love all of the Henry Huggins books。

The story follows a dog named Ribsy who got lost and is now finding his way back home to his owner, Henry。 My favorite part of the book would be the one where Ribsy stayed with the Dingleys。

Diana

Read to Isabel: surprisingly compelling and unexpected。 Mostly from the dog’s POV told in a very clever way。

Shannon

This was a fun, cute book。 This was a read for the drive to Chichen Itza。

I read this book by myself。 It's called Ribsy and it's a chapter book。 It took me more than one month to finish it。 I finished it I December。 I liked when he ran around someone's house with bubbles all over him。 I read this book by myself。 It's called Ribsy and it's a chapter book。 It took me more than one month to finish it。 I finished it I December。 I liked when he ran around someone's house with bubbles all over him。 。。。more

Read aloud to the beasts age 9, 9 & 7。 Remembered loving this one。 As an adult the missing dog plot line caused me a small amount of anxiety。

Stephanie

Read aloud with my dog-loving 8 year old。 I did nit read the Ribsy and Henry Huggins books as a kid, but I loved the Ramona books with all of my heart。 The way Beverly Cleary captures the worries and joys of childhood was magic。 It turns out she has the same gift for conveying the journey of a lost dog。

Heidi

Finished reading the Henry Huggins series with this last book last night。All three boys really enjoyed the stories, even though it was a repeat for the two older boys。

Brandon

This was a creative, entertaining story。 Even though the chapters are long, it would be great to read to kids。

Krysta Halye

This was one of my favorites when I was a kid。 Most of the story is told through the perspective of a dog who was misplaced far enough from home that it took more than a month to get back, stopping for side adventures along the way。 Still holds up。

Professor

In theory bringing us full circle with Henry almost losing Ribsy is cute, but I missed spending time with Henry and it is a weird way to close out his series。 Also, some of the characters we meet are more than a little classist imho。
