Summary

Sarah J。 Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta。

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive。 And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits。 Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it。

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit。 But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites。 The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other。

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms。 And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts。

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms。

I put off reading this for a while (couldn’t be bothered to read Nesta’s book even though I knew I’d love it once I did), but I was absolutely right。 I loved it。So glad to have finally read it!

Maddison

now i’ve finished the series i would welcome a serious concussion so i can read it all over again, for the first time。

4,5J’ai adorer。 J’ai eu du mal à commencer ce livre parce que j’ai jamais aimer Nesta mais dans ce tome on la comprend et on ne peux que l’aime et l’admirer。

Yikes…felt like I was reading a first draft written by a completely different author。 I’m still not Nesta’s biggest fan, but I can appreciate how her story came together in the end and liked her character development。 I had to skim through a good portion of this book, especially the ridiculous sex scenes and lack of depth in some moments。 In terms of length, I think maybe this book could have been shorter than ACOTAR or maybe the same length。 Time to go reread ACOMAF to cleanse my palate。

People need to leave this book alone。 It’s not told from the same POV as the others but it’s still an amazing story of resilience and strength。 I absolutely adore this book。

I ENJOYED THIS BOOK THE MOST

Fantastic series shift for the second trilogy。 Plot line is a bit slow but was definitely setting the stage for following books

I didn’t think I would like this book because it is not in feyre or rhysands point of view but did SJM change my mind。 I hated Nesta until i read this book and she’s still not my favorite character, but this book helped to understand her trauma。 And the spice definitely helped make me love this book。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 4。5 stars。 Spoilers ahead。 I appreciated the book being written from nesta and cassian’s POV although sometimes I’m not always sure Cassian’s POV was necessary。 Nesta clearly had the much more significant character arc going on。 Overall I thought it was very predictable (Cassian as her mate, training leading to the Blood Rite, etc) but still an extremely entertaining story and I loved the ending (although we knew Nesta would redeem herself—how could she not in a 700 page book?)

A very solid 4 stars。 If this was a standalone and not part of a series I think I might have liked it more。 While I found Nesta's story moving and enjoyed her character development, the book just doesn't seem to fit with the other ACOTAR books and some of the character development seems non sequitur with the previous books。 I think overall this series has issues with continuity, everything changes so dramatically and so often; from the perspective to the characters to the action taking place, it A very solid 4 stars。 If this was a standalone and not part of a series I think I might have liked it more。 While I found Nesta's story moving and enjoyed her character development, the book just doesn't seem to fit with the other ACOTAR books and some of the character development seems non sequitur with the previous books。 I think overall this series has issues with continuity, everything changes so dramatically and so often; from the perspective to the characters to the action taking place, it's all over the place。 。。。more

Hot hot hot!!! I was skeptical about this one since I’m such a Rhys fan but damn I love cassian and nesta。 Nesta’s story was truly amazing。 I LOVED the 4th part of the book and seeing the inner circle from a different perspective。 I really hope there will be another book for the series

MJ

I loved everything about Nesta, her self discovery and character development。 Cassian was also pretty amazing。 But only that。 The story itself didn't have anything especial to offer me。。。 I loved everything about Nesta, her self discovery and character development。 Cassian was also pretty amazing。 But only that。 The story itself didn't have anything especial to offer me。。。 。。。more

Idk how it's possible, but this is the best book of the entire series so far imo。 One of the few things that consistently put a smile on my face during a dark time in my life。 Really hoping this isn't the last in the series。 I need more! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I read this book in two stints, I stopped halfway because I had just finished another Maas book and wanted to actually have a pause between them。 But I found the second stint of reading I absolutely loved this book。 I think part of what I liked the most about it was Nesta’s friendship with Gwyn and Emerie。 I just loved the scenes with them together and their friendship。 I liked having Cassian’s perspective rather than purely Nesta’s。 My favourite scene was the dancing at the Winter Solstice, I j I read this book in two stints, I stopped halfway because I had just finished another Maas book and wanted to actually have a pause between them。 But I found the second stint of reading I absolutely loved this book。 I think part of what I liked the most about it was Nesta’s friendship with Gwyn and Emerie。 I just loved the scenes with them together and their friendship。 I liked having Cassian’s perspective rather than purely Nesta’s。 My favourite scene was the dancing at the Winter Solstice, I just adored it possibly because I love dancing and it was so full of tensions。 The blood rite was also very good。 This has just turned into a list of my favourite things about the book, oh well。 I mainly liked how it was about Nesta learning to love life and find how to get past her own guilt and darkness alongside Gwyn’s and Emerie’s。 。。。more

There is just quite a lot of sex going on here。 Really quite a lot。 More, certainly, than plot advancement。 It was still enjoyable to read, but maybe not when you are in public。

rövardotter

yea … idk why i kept reading。

huda

only read for nesta and all i have to say is justice for her

Tammy Le

Not me fucking crying!!!!! Wow。 Just wow。

I couldn’t continue, sadly。 I was getting annoyed with Nesta and felt the book was slow to progress。 I’m hoping to get back into it later after a hiatus。 For now, it would be rated 2 stars at 30% completed。

by far my favorite of the series。 man, my heart hurts。 this book made me feel alive。

Loved the change of perspective

I think I figured out where I land with SJM。 I typically really enjoy her characters and most of her plots (though, those are starting to get predictable, especially having already read TOG), but her writing style is not my favorite。 Too repetitive and her pacing can be weird。 That being said - I really liked this book。 It lands just behind ACOMAF for me, and I enjoyed it more than ACOTAR and ACOWAR。 This one had me hooked all the way through, but especially in the second half。 I always prefer S I think I figured out where I land with SJM。 I typically really enjoy her characters and most of her plots (though, those are starting to get predictable, especially having already read TOG), but her writing style is not my favorite。 Too repetitive and her pacing can be weird。 That being said - I really liked this book。 It lands just behind ACOMAF for me, and I enjoyed it more than ACOTAR and ACOWAR。 This one had me hooked all the way through, but especially in the second half。 I always prefer SJM’s multi POV stories so that was a win here for me。 Her exploration of mental health and self destructive tendencies was really interesting, and I liked the emphasis on female friendship。 。。。more

4。5 starsI loved this book。 Cassian and Nesta’s relationship was unique to them, and Nesta’s character development felt natural。 The only reason I didn’t give it 5 starts was because it seemed a little repetitive at times, but again, still really good。

Nesta is a tough character to write as a mc, but SJM did a really good job with her。 I think I would happily follow her destroy the whole world and pull a Dark Galadriel。 She's that great。Turns out, Cassian could have used a bit more depth。 But!
