Summary

The first letter arrived the day my husband was buried。 It was postmarked from the state penitentiary, and contained a single sentence:

I’ll wait forever if I have to。

It was signed by Dante, a man I didn’t know。

Out of simple curiosity, I wrote back to ask him what exactly he was waiting for。 His reply?

You。

I told the mystery man he had the wrong girl。 He said he didn’t。 I said we’d never met, but he said I was wrong。

We went back and forth, exchanging letters every week that grew increasingly more intimate。 Then one day, the letters stopped。 When I found out why, it was already too late。

Dante was at my doorstep。

And nothing on earth could have prepared me for what happened next。

4。5 ⭐️ My review for this book is going to be intentionally vague as far as any plot specifics, as this book is best to go in blind with no spoilers or clues。 This book is not what it seems, the whole time I was trying to manage theories in my head and figure out what the hell was going on, but in such a thrilling way。 I read this in less than a day, I couldn’t put it down, I LOVE my sleep and rarely give up sleep to read no matter how good the book is, and I stayed up even later than I usually 4。5 ⭐️ My review for this book is going to be intentionally vague as far as any plot specifics, as this book is best to go in blind with no spoilers or clues。 This book is not what it seems, the whole time I was trying to manage theories in my head and figure out what the hell was going on, but in such a thrilling way。 I read this in less than a day, I couldn’t put it down, I LOVE my sleep and rarely give up sleep to read no matter how good the book is, and I stayed up even later than I usually would reading this! And I would definitely say this is more of a psychological thriller romance。 At one point I was genuinely creeped out in my own house 🥴 BUT I’ll give you what I can as far as information goes, Kayla recently went through a tragedy and in the midst of grief and turmoil, her roof starts to leak, therefore she needs a handyman to repair her house。 In walks Aidan who turns her life upside down and they immediately share a strong connection that heats up fast。 In the middle of all this Kayla receives a letter in the mail, and then shit starts going sidewaysss。 I CAN tell you that Aidan and his dirty mouth, WOOOOO 😮‍💨 This man was filthy and I adored him。 Every step of the way he seemed to know just what Kayla needed。 Their banter was so fun, and there is a ton of kinky sex。 Like JTG specifies, this is not your traditional romance, and I can attest to that, but I wasn’t left torn apart, just more so completely mindfucked。 Like I whipped out pen and paper to start solving stuff at one point 😂😂 To be clear: there is a HEA。 It just isn’t like what most of us are used to。 If you remotely like thrillers, please go read this book on 8/16。 It’s worth it。 This was quite an enjoyable, enthralling read, and overall the romance, thrills, and spice was well-balanced。 I will say I think the detective in me slightly spoiled the romance side because while things were happening I was playing musical theories in my brain 🙃 。。。more

WOAH。 This is one of those books where you think you know what it’s going to be about and then you get there and you’re like merrrrrp whats happening。 I want to start of this review by echoing what JTG has said herself numerous times : this is not a traditional romance and it does not follow the story arc you all are used to, but there is indeed a happily ever after。 This book is in every single way both a psychological thriller and a spiiiicy as hell romance。 This book is the spiciest book I’ve WOAH。 This is one of those books where you think you know what it’s going to be about and then you get there and you’re like merrrrrp whats happening。 I want to start of this review by echoing what JTG has said herself numerous times : this is not a traditional romance and it does not follow the story arc you all are used to, but there is indeed a happily ever after。 This book is in every single way both a psychological thriller and a spiiiicy as hell romance。 This book is the spiciest book I’ve read by JTG [and this is #7]。 We’re talking primal play, domination, spanking, role playing, punishment, praise, annnnnd so much fucking dirty talk that I’m panting just writing this。 🥵 If you’re looking for your next smutty quote, look no further because I can guaran-damn-tee you it’s in this book。 Alrighty, let’s get to it : Kayla’s husband just died。 Her house needs repairs。 Aidan is the repairman。 She’s a grieving widow who is struggling with her attraction to Aidan but she ain’t that concerned because she gets scared one night over some noises in her house and she runs right to his apartment and into his bed。 Spiiiice at 20%。 👏 Unfortunately, this is truly all I can tell you because this book is very much a thriller and shit hits the fan early on。 You will be questioning yourself, making theories, and wondering what’s real the entire time you read this book。 Go in blind。 Please。 I devoured this book。 I was on the edge of my seat and was channeling my inner Ashley Flowers the whole damn time。 The ONLY reason this book is getting an 8/10 from me is because I felt the plot was very predictable。 The twists and shocks were a little too easy to spot in my opinion, and had I not been able to pick up on them [whether it be from book promo, the actual storyline, the chapter headings, etc。], I think I would have enjoyed the thrill + shock more。 Annnd the small detail that the title is a little misleading if you ask me。 😅 Overall, if you love a thriller, please do yourself a favor and read this one。 👻 。。。more

This book has blown my mind away。 It is not your traditional love story, but you will not be disappointed。 I absorb loved every part of this book。

Definitely not what I was expecting。 In a sense that’s a good thing。 Part spooky thriller, part mystery, part romance。 The story grips you and had you second guessing everything。 It was tragic yet beautifully written。 true to the author’s talent there were some comedic moments to lighten things up a bit。 The journey that Aiden and Kayla takes many twists and turns。 Their romance was hot。 The scenes between them were scorching。 Different but good

I feel cheated It wasn’t what I was expecting in a bad way。 I look forward to this book after reading with summary and feel cheated I didn’t get anything close to the summary。 I wish they marketed this different。 Hopefully, someone can write a book that was advised to us as I still want to read the original premise。

ARC reviewThere are a few triggers throughout this story so be sure to check TW before reading。 They’re listed on the author’s website。 I’m not sure if they’ll be listed in the published/final copy of the book。This was an interesting read— interesting in the sense that it wasn’t what I expected at all。 Idk why but I was expecting a romance between a prison inmate and a gal who became pen pals and eventually got together lol。 I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it。 I’m sort of in the middle。 ARC reviewThere are a few triggers throughout this story so be sure to check TW before reading。 They’re listed on the author’s website。 I’m not sure if they’ll be listed in the published/final copy of the book。This was an interesting read— interesting in the sense that it wasn’t what I expected at all。 Idk why but I was expecting a romance between a prison inmate and a gal who became pen pals and eventually got together lol。 I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it。 I’m sort of in the middle。 It defo had me interested throughout the story but at the end I felt a little confused。 This was my first time reading a paranormaly story。 Pen pal is not quite a romance bc there’s no HEA。 This story is very different from the other books i’ve read by this author but like I said I didn’t dislike it per-say。 The smut was gr8888 and the FMC’s story had me very intrigued throughout。 I just don’t think paranormal and thrillery romances are for me lol but if you’re into spooky non-traditional romances then this is for you!!! Oh I liked this one。 I went in totally blind but even if you read the blurb you’d still be totally clueless about the story。 The story is a combination mystery/ghost(paranormal)/erotic romance。 It for sure is unconventional but that’s what I loved most about it。 Toward the middle of the story, I caught on to what was happening with Kayla and although I figured out who Aiden was I was surprised at the overall role he played in the story。 It does have a “happy” ending, if you believe 😃

Wow! With the synopsis hinting at an epistolary romance, that was another plus, however, the final result was so much more than this! Pen Pal included a mixture of themes, and it worked well。 A dark, erotic, romantic suspense with kink and supernatural elements, a thriller, and plenty of mystery, and we loved it。 Then again, we do thrive on a story with an element of surprise, and Pen Pal delivered on all counts。‘Memories are the stories we tell ourselves about the important events in our lives。 In the telling, some of the details get lost, others embellished until truth is closer to fiction。’Kayla Reece is a thirty-year-old woman trying her best to cope with the passing of her husband Michael some months earlier, whilst dealing with some strange occurrences at her house, and the sudden appearance of letters arriving from a prisoner named Dante。‘We all walk around with a thousand strangers inside us, slumbering quietly until someone else wakes them up。’We can’t tell you much about the story as the author relies on the reveals and surprise elements to deliver the blows。 But let’s just say, the chemistry, eroticism, and kink in Pen Pal really heats up! The romance was swoony – anyone questioning if this story contains romance, that’s an emphatic YES!“I make you feel free?”“Like I’ve been living in a dark cave my whole fucking life, and I just stumbled out into the sunlight。”We can’t really say a lot more, because the mystery and surprise elements are something that must be experienced by the reader。 There are plenty of triggers in this story, so please heed the author’s warning before diving in。 It’s noted this story has a ‘non-traditional HEA ‘– well, there is no other way you could describe it。 Is it a HEA? Yes, we believe it is。 Is it a HEA in the ‘traditional’ sense of the word, well, probably not, but it does have a HEA。 “If you decide this isn’t what you want, promise me you’ll end it before I fall in love with you。”We thoroughly enjoyed Pen Pal, the reveals were well executed, and whilst we did guess at one, there were others we did not see coming。 We loved trying to fit all the puzzle pieces together and swooned over the love story contained therein。 We do agree that Pen Pal won’t be for everyone, but if you enjoy stories that are a bit outside the box, Pen Pal won’t disappoint!to purchaes Ebook PaperbackCome visit and follow us at:✲ TotallyBookedBlog✲ TBB on Facebook✲ TBB on Instagram✲ TBB on Twitter✲ TBB on Pinterest 。。。more

Yes*If you've read Perfect Strangers or have had it on your TBR then this will sound familiar- there is an HEA, but it's not your typical HEA you would get in a Romance novel。 I think the Erotic Thriller is a pretty good category, but, do not doubt at the center of this thriller is a love that is beautiful。 I will not spoil it for anyone, but I will say because of what occurs in the book it does not fit the mold of a romance and therefore cannot have the kind of HEA one might expect from one。 Every book I have read written JT Geissinger to date has been a 5 Star book for me。 I love her romance books and I love her literary fiction books。 This was the first one that I actually already knew what was going to happen。 I had about 5 theories going from near the beginning, and the first one I had was correct。 One of the major details of it I also had guessed while reading。 Despite having a good idea, I wasn't convinced I was correct until a little later and it just continued to make more and more sense if I were right。 I think it's just because of what other stories (both literary and cinematic) I had encountered, I know many others were not expecting the outcome。 There is so much suspense in this novel, and you can find breadcrumbs all along the way if you know what to look for。 However, do yourself a favor and go in blind。 If you guess it will be very rewarding, if you don't you will be blown away。 (If you guess, you still will be in awe because she is such an incredible writer。) Just be warned if you want a typical romance that follows the expected path to an HEA with some twists thrown in, this is not the book for you。 I would recommend reading one of her romances, because you really are missing out if you have not given her books a try。 If, however, you enjoy reading a thrilling suspenseful book with a love story and one of those HEAs that leave you in that interesting state of wistful awe- crying tears of both joy and melancholy uncertain of what to do with yourself next because you're not quite ready to move on and you might even go back through or even re-read it, then this is the book for you。 。。。more
