Summary

Potty training can be crappy--but it doesn't have to be。 You CAN potty train your child, and you can teach them the basics in just 3 days。 So take a deep breath, keep your chin up, and put your game face on。 You are the parent。 You can do this。

Potty training is not easy。 You might feel overwhelmed after repeated unsuccessful potty training efforts, or even clueless about how to get your little stinker to go in the potty。 Either way, you've found the right book。 Potty Training in 3 Days is a simple guide to potty training your child for the first, last, and only time。

During her many years working as a nanny, Brandi Brucks had no clue that your child's -business- would end up being her business, too。 But after caring for numerous children of potty training age one thing had become abundantly clear--potty training was her calling。 She's successfully potty trained more than a hundred children, and she's helped their parents get through it without losing their minds。

Yes, potty training is tough。 But Brandi knows that parents are tough, too。 Potty Training in 3 Days outlines her intensive, effective potty training method with clarity, humor, and understanding。 Consider this book your potty trainer for hire that will be by your side before, during, and after your child's potty training。

BEFORE--Know what signs mean it's potty training time, how to set the tone for fun and success, and the key phrases that will help your big kid in training the most。

DURING--From ditching the diapers to pushing the fluids, and bathroom reminders to accident rescues--this is what you've been preparing for。 It will be fun。 It will be challenging。 It will be worth it。 It's only 3 days--you've got this。

AFTER--You made it! (almost) These tried and true techniques for nighttime accident prevention, going potty at school, and more will make sure that all of your hard work pays off with potty training that lasts。
Let Brandi's hard earned wisdom take the guesswork out of potty training your child。 Read the book, choose your days, keep up on your work--you'll soon be able to count yourself as one of the many parents who've learned that potty training can be as simple as 1, 2, 3。

To the point and invaluable adviceRead this book the day before beginning potty training and I am so glad I did! This book provides the perfect level of instruction and justification / reasoning behind each part of how you should approach potty training, giving the reader the context necessary to truly learn and apply the recommendations。 In 4 days I potty trained my 23 month old。 If it weren’t for this book I probably would have given up after day 1。。。 or 2!! Definitely worth the time and money

I can’t believe I posted that I read this on Goodreads, but here we are。 I’ll give this a star rating once we see if this technique works。 :)

I recently got a new job as a head preschool teacher in a 3 year old classroom。 The room I was in before required students to be potty trained, however that was not a requirement at this center。 So I find myself in a situation with children at different stages of potty training and little experience myself。 One of the mothers who seemed to have the most success swears by this book and my boss actually bought a copy for us。 It has a lot of great ideas and even some that I can use at school。 Unfor I recently got a new job as a head preschool teacher in a 3 year old classroom。 The room I was in before required students to be potty trained, however that was not a requirement at this center。 So I find myself in a situation with children at different stages of potty training and little experience myself。 One of the mothers who seemed to have the most success swears by this book and my boss actually bought a copy for us。 It has a lot of great ideas and even some that I can use at school。 Unfortunately for me, much of this really needs to take place at the home。 But I will gladly support any families that want to implement this idea。 I want all my parents to read it!The reason it is 4 stars for me is because I can't speak on the subject from much experience myself。 But from what I see, this is the real deal。 。。。more

I didn't want to rate or review this book until we had some time to test it out。 Luckily a very cold and rainy holiday weekend made for the perfect 3 days to attempt potty training a very active 2。5-year-old。 I love how short this book is! It was easy for me (and my husband) to read in a day during naptime。 We prepared a few weeks ahead and bought a realistic-looking potty seat insert, lots of stickers, and small treats like jellybeans and gummy bears。 The author prepared me mentally as a parent I didn't want to rate or review this book until we had some time to test it out。 Luckily a very cold and rainy holiday weekend made for the perfect 3 days to attempt potty training a very active 2。5-year-old。 I love how short this book is! Proud parent over here。 I know each family is different, but this method really did work for us。 I'm sure we'll still have accidents- especially as we venture out of the house and back to the park or in stores, but I am feeling much more hopeful than I was going into it。 。。。more

Clear and Concise To be clear the rating is for the book itself and not whether or not her strategy worked。 After 5 minutes of reading I realized my 18 month old wasn't ready yet and by the end of the book I realized I wasn't ready。 There is prep work involved, constant surveillance, and continual maintenance。 This strategy can be effective but only if carried out by an adult faithfully。 Will be reading again in 3 months in preparation of official training season (summer)。 Hopefully I can report Clear and Concise To be clear the rating is for the book itself and not whether or not her strategy worked。 After 5 minutes of reading I realized my 18 month old wasn't ready yet and by the end of the book I realized I wasn't ready。 There is prep work involved, constant surveillance, and continual maintenance。 This strategy can be effective but only if carried out by an adult faithfully。 Will be reading again in 3 months in preparation of official training season (summer)。 Hopefully I can report back with some good news。 The book itself is clear and concise while providing you with answers for those。。。。"but what if 。。。?" questions。 。。。more

Okay book。 Hard to implement for us since we both work full time。 Maybe I can’t take a few days off。 Anyway, like the strategy that was mentioned。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I appreciated the quick and to the point advice。 The pictures and bullet points were nice too! “Be the parent and tell your child, don’t ask them if they want/need to go potty” — this sounds like great advice。 I don’t necessarily agree with not using small floor potty, but I understand where the author is coming from。

So this book is mainly for older children 2。5 yrs and up。 My daughter will be 1。5 next month but we will be potty training her early。 She's giving us signs that she's decently ready already, like taking her diaper off or trying to pull it down all the time。 This book was helpful in a sense that it's giving me ideas on what to do。 The communication part will be a tough one and considering my daughter will be trained so young, a lot of the stuff in this book doesn't really apply to what we are abl So this book is mainly for older children 2。5 yrs and up。 My daughter will be 1。5 next month but we will be potty training her early。 She's giving us signs that she's decently ready already, like taking her diaper off or trying to pull it down all the time。 This book was helpful in a sense that it's giving me ideas on what to do。 The communication part will be a tough one and considering my daughter will be trained so young, a lot of the stuff in this book doesn't really apply to what we are able to do。With that said, this book is amazing if your child is older and can communicate with you。 We would absolutely following this book to a tee if my daughter was at least 2-2。5。 。。。more

Planning to read a couple of potty training books before I dive into potty training my first son。 This one was helpful, gave really clear instructions but wasn't so long that you get bogged down in the details。 Might change my rating if we actually try this strategy based on how it goes。 Planning to read a couple of potty training books before I dive into potty training my first son。 This one was helpful, gave really clear instructions but wasn't so long that you get bogged down in the details。 Might change my rating if we actually try this strategy based on how it goes。 。。。more

Great intro to potty training!I loved how short and simple each segment was。 It was a quick and easy read and very informative。 It gave me a lot to think about with regard to potty training my first child。 I’m not sure if this method will work for us, but it was a great intro to the subject!

Worked wellDefinitely not potty trained in three days。 Still has accidents on occasion but definitely a great book and helped us。 I’d say we were trained in three days and then over a course of a month we were going to no accidents but maybe once a week if that。 Pooh took a little longer but not much。 Definitely worth the read。 I was scared to death about potty training and this book helped。 Definitely recommend just letting your child run around in underwear for the first three days。

This was the second potty training book I read in preparation for potty training my son here in a couple months。 Meh。 I liked how short and to the point it was, but I’ll probably borrow bits and pieces from the first book I read and of course remember who my son is and what works for him。

Some good tips。 Sometimes a bit unrealistic。 Loved that is was short!

This book actually worked! And I passed it on to family and friends with toddlers of their own and it worked for them too! I know that the book doesn’t focus on night time dryness or poo, but this method worked that well for my daughter! Even though my 2 year old is now potty trained, in no way was it easy or stress free。 It was probably one of the most frustrating and disgusting 10 days of my life。。。 but it was also the most rewarding! 。。。more

This was an excellent guide to potty training quickly and successfully - based on the development of your child。 We prepped and followed the guidelines as outlined - but ran into issues when my daughter of 26 months stopped drinking water/fluids in effort to assert some control to the jolting experience of potty training。 Still - I highly highly recommend this book because it's way more practical and cost-effective to potty train early rather than later。 I will say that we did not use the toilet This was an excellent guide to potty training quickly and successfully - based on the development of your child。 We prepped and followed the guidelines as outlined - but ran into issues when my daughter of 26 months stopped drinking water/fluids in effort to assert some control to the jolting experience of potty training。 Still - I highly highly recommend this book because it's way more practical and cost-effective to potty train early rather than later。 I will say that we did not use the toilet trainer seat as recommended because my daughter preferred to go straight on the seat。 Be bold, stay committed, and know that potty training is possible and can be more pain-free that you think。 We succeeded in 7 days of commitment and consistency。 。。。more

This book was a straight forward and quick read (I finished it in two hours)。 Some say the author came off as judgmental towards parents but I interpreted it more as sarcastic, irreverent humor。 I actually laughed out loud at a few parts。 We just finished day 3 with my son and it was a huge success! He did not cry about using the toilet once, and enjoyed the rewards recommended by the author。 He thought gathering up the old diapers was hilarious and enjoyed the toilet seat over the small potty w This book was a straight forward and quick read (I finished it in two hours)。 Some say the author came off as judgmental towards parents but I interpreted it more as sarcastic, irreverent humor。 I actually laughed out loud at a few parts。 We just finished day 3 with my son and it was a huge success! A short, easy read with some good advice。 After following the plan for 24 hours, I think this book is seriously lacking。 It provides a good foundation but doesn’t go deep enough。 It’s shallow advise that is a good start but not all encompassing。

I don’t want to discourage people from buying and using this book as a reference for potty training。 However, I do want to encourage people to read something else in addition to this book。The pros: teaches you to potty train in a short amount of time, gives many tips and a plan of action。The cons: The tone of the book is condescending at times, she does encourage as well but the patronizing tone really bugged me。 In my opinion, her method promotes hard to break bad habits in favor of potty train I don’t want to discourage people from buying and using this book as a reference for potty training。 However, I do want to encourage people to read something else in addition to this book。The pros: teaches you to potty train in a short amount of time, gives many tips and a plan of action。The cons: The tone of the book is condescending at times, she does encourage as well but the patronizing tone really bugged me。 In my opinion, her method promotes hard to break bad habits in favor of potty training。 She highly encourages a food reward which I just know would have ended very badly for my toddler, I’ve also heard from some moms who’ve done potty training that the child starts to think they go to the bathroom for a chocolate chip, not because that’s what we are supposed to do as we get older。 She also suggests filling your child up with beverages to keep having opportunities for teachable moments。。。 if your child is truly ready I don’t think this is necessary and again this develops a bad habit because she suggests fruit juices and etc to keep the drinks interesting。 My son doesn’t drink juice on normal occasions and I can only imagine what filling him up with fruit juice for 3 days would do for his sense of entitlement (lol)。 The worst con though, she made a point to say the longer you wait to potty train your child, the more set in their ways they will be and the harder to detach them from their diaper。 There are actually studies that say the opposite, that waiting until your child is ready will make the process much easier and quicker。 This is why I encourage others to buy another book in addition to this one, preferably one written by a pediatrician or child psychologist。 It’s not to discredit Brandi Brucks or the doctor that wrote the foreward, but in hindsight I really wish I would have seen another point of view to potty training。 With all that said, I know this method has worked for some people。 Be prepared for it to possibly take longer than 3 days, because if your child isn’t ready, it’s going to be pretty hard to force it on them, method or not。 I would recommend this to anyone who has a child who is 100% ready, who meets all the “signs of readiness”, if you are unsure and not in a rush (some people need to potty train In order for their child to go to school) I would absolutely suggest you buy another book for cross reference。 2。5/5 。。。more

Seems pretty extreme, like potty training boot camp。 Our child is not yet potty trained so maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about! Easy to read and understand。 Our family will take some tips from this book but probably not try to cram it into an intense 3 days like the author suggests。
