Summary

NYT bestselling author Nalini Singh takes us into the hearts of two fractured people in a world on the brink of a psychic Armageddon 。 。 。

Silence has fallen。 The Psy are free to feel emotion。 Free to love。 But Silence was never a prison for Ivan Mercant。 The biggest threat to his future lies dormant in his brain—a psychic monster that wants only to feed。 And now, the brutal leash he’s kept on that monster is slipping。 He prepared for this day, for the end of Ivan Mercant 。 。 。 but that was before he met Lei。

As primal as she is human, this wild changeling brings color into his life, laughter to his soul。 Then the dream shatters in a rain of blood, in silent bodies in the snow。 Lei is gone。 Vanished without a trace 。 。 。 until he meets strangely familiar eyes across a busy San Francisco street。

Soleil Bijoux Garcia is a healer who has lost everything。 She exists in a world of desolate aloneness 。 。 。 till the day she finds herself face-to-face with a lethal stranger。 The animal who is her other half knows this man, but her memories are tattered fragments。 Sorrow and a need for vengeance are all that drive her。 Her mission? To kill the alpha of the DarkRiver leopard pack。

But fate has other plans。 Soon, a deadly soldier who believes himself a monster and a broken healer might be all that stand between life and death for the entire Psy race。

Another great chapter in the storyI really enjoyed this one, Ivan and Lei were a lovely couple and the interaction with DarkRiver was welcome as we've missed them。 It was nice to get back to changelings as the last few books have been psy heavy。 Another great chapter in the storyI really enjoyed this one, Ivan and Lei were a lovely couple and the interaction with DarkRiver was welcome as we've missed them。 It was nice to get back to changelings as the last few books have been psy heavy。 。。。more

a beautiful book, probably my favorite in the series。 I didn't want it to end! read it in one sitting。 one thing: the use of the plural pronoun they as a singular is confusing in print in a novel 。 I wish there were an accepted way of marking it, maybe *they --because when I've encountered it several times now in novels, each time it has given me pause, once leading me to believe there were two characters instead of just one involved。 lol。 (It took reading the fan page here to sort that out)。 Th a beautiful book, probably my favorite in the series。 I didn't want it to end! read it in one sitting。 one thing: the use of the plural pronoun they as a singular is confusing in print in a novel 。 I wish there were an accepted way of marking it, maybe *they --because when I've encountered it several times now in novels, each time it has given me pause, once leading me to believe there were two characters instead of just one involved。 lol。 (It took reading the fan page here to sort that out)。 There has to be a way to avoid ambiguity。I almost want to just turn around and read this book again, it was that good。 well worth waiting for。 I think I actually liked this one better than any of the GH books, and that's saying something since GH is my favorite NS series。 。。。more

Cold, Cold HeartPSTrinity6I read this straight through once it showed up in my kindle。 What a wild ride!Canto was a surprise, but we had met Ivan in Silver Silence。 Such an interesting generation of minds: Silver, Arwen, Canto and Ivan all have unexpected structures to their brains。 But this is as much a revelation of Arwen as Ivan, a deepening of our understanding of them both。 In the larger arc there are also revelations; but you must read it for yourself

Oh my God the plot twist。 In the interest of not giving anything away, I won't say any more。 But Holy crap, I KNEW it was her。So, storm echo。 Really freaking good。 Two plotlines in this story。 You have the individual romance between Ivan and Soleil。 I adore this relationship。 We learn more about Ivan, having been intrigued since his mention in silver silence。 Soleil is an ocelot。 We know of her pack from allegiance of honor, I believe it was。 Their romance was so good。 Second Holy freaking crap! I can't wait to find out!!! 。。。more

I'm rounding this up because I loved being back amongst Dark River, the glimpses of Kaleb, and I really really enjoyed the direction Nalini took the wider storyline。 There were more than a few moments where I felt parallels to Slave to Sensation and Heart of Obsidian but unfortunately Ivan and Lei, and their relationship relationship let things down a bit。 Other than that, a good instalment that's left me hungry for more。As an aside, I struggled to remember anything about Payal and Canto even th I'm rounding this up because I loved being back amongst Dark River, the glimpses of Kaleb, and I really really enjoyed the direction Nalini took the wider storyline。 There were more than a few moments where I felt parallels to Slave to Sensation and Heart of Obsidian but unfortunately Ivan and Lei, and their relationship relationship let things down a bit。 Other than that, a good instalment that's left me hungry for more。As an aside, I struggled to remember anything about Payal and Canto even though I've definitely read their story。 Might be time for a re-read (although, judging by the 3stars and no review that I left last time, I'm not sure how that will go)。 。。。more

They're a bad influence。" Lei is a cat and I don't want to say much here, because I don't want to spoil anything。  Suffice it to say, we do get back to visiting Dark River, and get to see some of our favorite characters there。  I love the development of her and Ivan's history and characters, and the magical way they connect。  It's so heartwarming but develops slowly。The overall plot with parts of the Psy Net failing, the Trinity learning to work together more, the anchors connecting with each other, the problems with the Architect and Ming, is a very slow progress。  That would be my only difficulty with the series is the plot parts feel like they always happen in the last 10% of the book with the bulk of the pages devoted to character and romance development。  That's a generalization, of course。Singh is a master, though, and the books are brilliant。  I love every minute of the story, and all aspects。  I'd only like to see the plot move along just a bit more in each one。  I enjoy these SO much and can't wait to learn about the next couple and further developments in the Trinity world。 。。。more

The Cats’ Mother

Storm Echo is the 21st book in Singh’s sprawling sci-fi-tinged Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series, or the sixth in the “second season” Trinity storyline。 While you don’t need to have read them all, this one goes back to the DarkRiver leopards of the very first book, Slave to Sensation, and features characters from both the earliest and most recent books, so anyone trying to start here would find themselves first completely lost and then basically spoiled for the previous instalments。 This Storm Echo is the 21st book in Singh’s sprawling sci-fi-tinged Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series, or the sixth in the “second season” Trinity storyline。 While you don’t need to have read them all, this one goes back to the DarkRiver leopards of the very first book, Slave to Sensation, and features characters from both the earliest and most recent books, so anyone trying to start here would find themselves first completely lost and then basically spoiled for the previous instalments。 This world is complicated and unique, which is why I keep coming back to it: I confess I was getting tired of the repetitive plots and lack of progress of the main story arc, but this one has restored my faith and I thoroughly enjoyed it。Psy security consultant Ivan Mercant has always walked alone, afraid of effect the dark power within his mind could have on those he gets close to, but when he meets a Changeling healer called Lei, they are immediately drawn to one another, until she disappears after getting caught up in a brutal attack on her pack。 Meeting again by chance, she doesn’t remember him, but the feline part of her does - and this time it won’t let him go, but a dangerous force is building in the Psy-Net that only Ivan can stand against…This series has been going for sixteen years, so I was surprised to realise that only five or so years have passed since Lucas Hunter and Sasha Duncan first bonded。 Unfortunately for me, this remains primarily a romance series - Singh has found a formula that works and has stuck to it, so every book is about two people who believe themselves irreparably damaged by childhood trauma overcoming a life-threatening psychic threat with the power of love。 The interesting part is the background networks that surround and support them。 The Trinity storyline has been almost all about members of the Mercant Russian Psy-spy family, who are undoubtedly fascinating, but I liked meeting all the leopards from the early books again。 Soleil’s animal is teased for a while, but made sense once it was revealed。The ridiculously and unnecessarily drawn-out question of who The Architect is was finally confirmed, and will not be a surprise to anyone following the series。The writing remains flowery and repetitious - count the number of times the word crystalline is used - but happily the sex scenes are dialled down to a modest two, are short and happen appropriately late in the book。 I’m allergic to amnesia plot lines, but this one doesn’t overdo it。 There’s a good dose of changeling cubs and more snarky humour in this one, with lot of our favourite characters making cameo appearances but not too many new ones being introduced。 In my opinion this is the best of the Trinity books to date and I hope they continue in this vein, as I’m intrigued to see where she takes the post-Silence Psy story。 。。。more

A return to form in the psy-changeling series。 The lead pair were distinct from the usual sort and were both engaging and likeable。 though the focus was very much on the relationship and interactions, Storm Echo progressed the plot in some significant ways。 I liked the ending; it had impact and set up the end of this arc quite nicely。

Me encantó la primera parte de la novela porque fue diferente al resto de la serie, y ya después está la estructura típica de presentación de personajes y de la historia típica de la serie。 Hubo un pequeño bache hacia la mitad del relato pero remonta para presentar el desenlace final。

It’s romantic, entertaining, and deeply interesting。 Nalini Singh’s latest Psy-Changeling Trinity novel is the kind of book that makes you want to cancel plans so you can keep reading – it’s that engaging。Ivan Mercant knows love and absolute loyalty thanks to his grandmother and cousins。 But even with them he’s often an island unto himself – the knowledge that he carries a toxic power in him so deeply embedded that he’s wary of ensnaring anyone in his web。 Then he meets Lei, a changeling who bursts into his world with brightness and color and laughter…before she disappears in an event of violent madness。 Over a year later Ivan comes face-to-face with Soleil Bijoux Garcia, a changeling whose human side doesn’t know him, but whose cat can sense an unbroken bond between them。Ivan is a Psy whose cold exterior covers a vulnerable heart that absolutely melted me。 He’s dominant and protective, but so sweet I could swoon。 Soleil is a healer who backs down from nothing and no one。 She’s a changeling who needs pack but has been isolated for most of her life。 I won’t spoil what happens when she comes to San Francisco looking for answers, but suffice it to say it’s satisfying。 Fans of the Psy-Changeling series will know that given the location of this book they’re sure to meet old friends again。 I loved that Singh incorporates both the Mercant and DarkRiver worlds in this book。 It’s a true treat see these two packs/families that are so different yet so similar。At the heart of Storm Echo is the love story between Soleil and Ivan。 These two fit like lock and key and I was swept into their romance from the first。 Ivan is a man with titanium shields but they’re no match for his cat’s claws。 Soleil has a spine of steel that won’t let Ivan go and the way they just gripped each other, so to speak, grabbed my heart in turn。 There’s such love, care, and passion in their romance that it makes me smile just to think about it。 I dare you not to fall in love with these two protective souls。The overarching series mystery of the denigration of the PsyNet and the damage caused by the Scarabs is at the forefront of this story and it’s fascinating。 I love how Singh brought about more questions and answers, her worldbuilding top-notch as we delve deeper into Psy minds and powers。 I can’t say much about this plot without spoiling things so I’ll leave it by saying that I finished Storm Echo desperately eager to see what Singh will do next。 I cannot recommend Soleil and Ivan’s story highly enough。 Nalini Singh is in top form in this thrilling, romantic tale!FTC Disclosure: I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review。 This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review。 。。。more

This is, what, the 21st book in this series? I can't believe I've read them all and have no intention of stopping。 There's just something about this world and these ensemble of characters that's become a comforting space for me。 I always go into these thinking I have forgotten everything but it all comes back to me。 I really enjoyed Ivan and Lei's story。 And I'm so happy that we were brought back to DarkRiver pack in this! I'm so hyped that we finally know more about the Architect。 This is, what, the 21st book in this series?
