Seven Days in June had me laughing out loud and crying with the characters as their hearts are broken and healed。 Tia Williams’s book is a smart, sexy testament to Black joy, to the well of strength from which women draw, and to tragic romances that mature into second chances。 I absolutely loved it。”
—JODI PICOULT, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Book of Two Ways and Small Great Things

Seven days to fall in love, fifteen years to forget, and seven days to get it all back again。。。

Eva Mercy is a single mom and bestselling erotica writer who is feeling pressed from all sides。 Shane Hall is a reclusive, enigmatic, award-winning novelist, who, to everyone’s surprise, shows up in New York。

When Shane and Eva meet unexpectedly at a literary event, sparks fly, raising not only their buried traumas, but the eyebrows of the Black literati。 What no one knows is that fifteen years earlier, teenage Eva and Shane spent one crazy, torrid week madly in love。 While they may be pretending not to know each other, they can’t deny their chemistry—or the fact that they’ve been secretly writing to each other in their books through the years。

Over the next seven days, amidst a steamy Brooklyn summer, Eva and Shane reconnect—but Eva’s wary of the man who broke her heart, and wants him out of the city so her life can return to normal。 Before Shane disappears though, she needs a few questions answered。。。

With its keen observations of creative life in America today, as well as the joys and complications of being a mother and a daughter, Seven Daysin June is a hilarious, romantic, and sexy-as-hell story of two writers discovering their second chance at love。

me ha parecido un libro bastante sin más?? 13 eslóganes de twitter por página, sub plots de sex education y before sunrise, personajes super maniqueos y predecible。 y encima hetero。

Two authors meet at a book panel。 But they already know each other。 They went to high school together and had a complicated seven days together。 I appreciated this book on many levels。 First because it shared the struggles of black authors。 Second, one character suffers from debilitating migraines and I learned so much in reading about her struggles。 Third - and the one that stands out most - is that the protagonists are complicated and have made a lot of bad choices。 But I respected liked them, Two authors meet at a book panel。 But they already know each other。 They went to high school together and had a complicated seven days together。 I appreciated this book on many levels。 First because it shared the struggles of black authors。 Second, one character suffers from debilitating migraines and I learned so much in reading about her struggles。 Third - and the one that stands out most - is that the protagonists are complicated and have made a lot of bad choices。 But I respected liked them, despite their faults。 I liked how they were multi-layered and unique。 。。。more

Loved this - it’s clever and funny with characters that you are rooting for from the beginning。 I enjoyed the take on modern life especially in relation to Eva’s daughter。 If you are looking for a beach or summer read with a bit of soul to it, this is one to go for。

DNF and do NOT recommend。 Omfg this book is painful to read。 Boring is an understatement。 I do not at all understand what the hype is about。 I'm currently 200 pages in and still haven't gotten to the "thick of it。" Like wtf??The author focuses so much on the back story of every single character that she's missing the mark with the main two。 I would give this zero stars if I could。 I will probably be returning。 DNF and do NOT recommend。 Omfg this book is painful to read。 Boring is an understatement。 I do not at all understand what the hype is about。 I'm currently 200 pages in and still haven't gotten to the "thick of it。" Like wtf??The author focuses so much on the back story of every single character that she's missing the mark with the main two。 I would give this zero stars if I could。 I will probably be returning。 。。。more

I wanted to like this one more than I actually did。 And I think this is an objectively well-written book that discussed a lot of really important topics: mental illness, invisible disabilities, chronic illness, Hollywood white-washing。 But it just fell really flat for me。 I understand the whole premise of the book is literally "it takes place over seven days in June。" Like, okay, yes, I get it。 But I struggle to full grasp the idea of two people falling in love as teenagers over the course of 7 I wanted to like this one more than I actually did。 And I think this is an objectively well-written book that discussed a lot of really important topics: mental illness, invisible disabilities, chronic illness, Hollywood white-washing。 But it just fell really flat for me。 I understand the whole premise of the book is literally "it takes place over seven days in June。" Like, okay, yes, I get it。 But I struggle to full grasp the idea of two people falling in love as teenagers over the course of 7 days, not seeing each other for 15 years, and falling back in love again over another 7 days。 I also felt the "conflict" at the end was really pointless and unnecessary。 And then it was basically resolved a chapter later without even really discussing it (which makes sense, because it wasn't really necessary in the first place。)The banter between the two main characters (as adults) was really good, and I genuinely like them both a lot as characters。 I almost just wish that it was a romance between the two of them in the present, rather than a second-chance romance, because I think that's where it really didn't work for me (and this is coming from someone that adores a second-chance romance)。 Either way, again, it's not bad。 I just wasn't into it as much as I wanted to be。 Maybe my expectations going in were just really high。Also, look up trigger warnings before going into this one! 。。。more

I think Tia Williams gets it spot on in this novel, character relationships, choices, dialogue。 She handles challenging topics with grace, guts, realism, and humor。 And she crafts a believable selfish narcissistic mother too。 I did wonder if Shane would have physical health issues from his years of alcohol and drug abuse。 I listened to this twice。

This is an extremely well conceived and well executed story that makes the outside components of the characters lives just as, if not more important, than the actual romances itself without it it feeling like the romance aspect is being pushed to the side。 There are some pretty heavy topics in regards to the characters pasts (addiction, self harm, etc。) so be prepared for that to come up。

This book was sadly the victim of my own high expectations。 I went in expecting a cute, literary, second chance romance which technically it is(??), Seven days in June is too dramatic for its own good。 it tries to tackle all these big topics of self harm, alchoholism, sexual abuse and while yes cute rom coms can talk about serious things you have to do it with due reverance and unfortunately it was not so for me。 the pop culture refrences are a bit cringey at times and the whole "7 days" never r This book was sadly the victim of my own high expectations。 I went in expecting a cute, literary, second chance romance which technically it is(??), Seven days in June is too dramatic for its own good。 it tries to tackle all these big topics of self harm, alchoholism, sexual abuse and while yes cute rom coms can talk about serious things you have to do it with due reverance and unfortunately it was not so for me。 the pop culture refrences are a bit cringey at times and the whole "7 days" never really adds anything to the plot。 The lead characters have great chemistry but even their charisma gets bogged down in all this melodrama。The most intresting part of the book is the epilogue where Eva is researching her family history and Creole heritage, like that should have been focused on more imo。 if you like drama, pick it up, it was sadly a dissapointment for me 。。。more

the fact that it took me six days to read this and not seven。。。 criminalloooved this book, such a beautiful second chance romance story about two writers who have been writing about each other for the past 15 years。 there's a lot of traumatic backstory, but ultimately this book was a celebration of black joy。 i also loved eva's daughter, and i'm usually not a fan of children in romance novels。 just a few too many pop culture references though, and an epilogue that was basically the whole third a the fact that it took me six days to read this and not seven。。。 criminalloooved this book, such a beautiful second chance romance story about two writers who have been writing about each other for the past 15 years。 there's a lot of traumatic backstory, but ultimately this book was a celebration of black joy。 i also loved eva's daughter, and i'm usually not a fan of children in romance novels。 just a few too many pop culture references though, and an epilogue that was basically the whole third act。 。。。more

Easily a 5-star read。 Tears were spilled。 Heart rates increased。 Laughs were had。 It was a whole thing。 Normally I find it hard for me to fully connect with an MC through third-person POV, but that was definitely not the case with this book。 Instantly immersive。Tia Williams’ writing is clever, dizzying, heart-melting, and mind bending。 Clever, because her dialogue is so sharp and her characters so well developed。 Dizzying, because the pain and love is so evocative of reality。 Heart-melting becau Easily a 5-star read。 Tears were spilled。 Heart rates increased。 Laughs were had。 It was a whole thing。 Normally I find it hard for me to fully connect with an MC through third-person POV, but that was definitely not the case with this book。 Instantly immersive。Tia Williams’ writing is clever, dizzying, heart-melting, and mind bending。 Clever, because her dialogue is so sharp and her characters so well developed。 Dizzying, because the pain and love is so evocative of reality。 Heart-melting because the relationship between Eva and Shane is so powerful and honest and sensual and real and right。 Mind bending because every single aspect of this book was handled with such great care that you forget you’re reading。 What I especially adored about “Seven Days In June”, aside from the overall theme of giving/taking second chances, was how much I genuinely loved the characters。 Eva, Shane, Audre(!), Cece, Belinda… Excellently written。 This novel is a great example of weaving a character- and plot-driven story together in the right way。 It was also a beautiful and sincere testament to the Black community, to Black love。 。。。more

If you’re like me, then you’ve seen this book everywhere on bookstagram。 Going into this book I was definitely worried I was going to be in the minority that didn’t enjoy it, I’m glad to say I wasn’t in that minority。The book centres around the romance of 2 black characters (Shane & Eva), which I think is relevant to mention because of how refreshing a read it was, given most romance books centre around white couples。 Shane & Eva dated years ago, and now years later Shane appears again in Eva’s If you’re like me, then you’ve seen this book everywhere on bookstagram。 Going into this book I was definitely worried I was going to be in the minority that didn’t enjoy it, I’m glad to say I wasn’t in that minority。The book centres around the romance of 2 black characters (Shane & Eva), which I think is relevant to mention because of how refreshing a read it was, given most romance books centre around white couples。 Shane & Eva dated years ago, and now years later Shane appears again in Eva’s life。 However, this book isn’t just about romance。 It addresses topics such as chronic illnesses, grief, abuse, depression, alcoholism & so much more。 I also love the way in which the book switches POV’s。 In reality this book makes you follow two characters that are trying to heal and better themselves。 What makes you love the characters is that both Eva and Shane are flawed and have so much depth to them。It wasn’t a 5 for me because it was a pretty predictable story, and I would have loved to read some more from them when they were teenagers。 But, that doesn’t mean that this book isn’t worth hype, it definitely is, and should be on your list if you haven’t read it yet。 。。。more

Simi Spoilers but not really 🥰Holy crap, this book ripped my heart out and put it back together again over and over again and I absolutely loved it。 This is only my second chance at romance and I absolutely adore it, the writing is amazing I love how it jumps back-and-forth between their original meeting and their current meeting。 I also absolutely adore the way that it didn’t sugarcoat mental illness, a lot of the books that I’ve read have and this was really cool to see addiction, self harm, a Simi Spoilers but not really 🥰Holy crap, this book ripped my heart out and put it back together again over and over again and I absolutely loved it。 This is only my second chance at romance and I absolutely adore it, the writing is amazing I love how it jumps back-and-forth between their original meeting and their current meeting。 I also absolutely adore the way that it didn’t sugarcoat mental illness, a lot of the books that I’ve read have and this was really cool to see addiction, self harm, and recovery in a way that wasn’t toned down or romanticized。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 rounding up to 4 stars。This was a good read! the characters are really interesting and well-drawn。 I liked the journeys they had to each other and towards their healing, I loved Eva’s relationship with her wise-beyond-her-years daughter。 I just wish the ending was less abrupt? The epilogue just felt rushed and I wish maybe it was a bit longer。 I didn’t necessarily think they should wait longer to be together (as the book says, they could grow and learn and lean on each other while they were lea rounding up to 4 stars。This was a good read! the characters are really interesting and well-drawn。 I liked the journeys they had to each other and towards their healing, I loved Eva’s relationship with her wise-beyond-her-years daughter。 I just wish the ending was less abrupt?
