Summary

“You were built for hard things。”

Two years after losing the love of his life to cancer, Connor Murphy is slowly emerging from the darkness of grief, but he wrestles with fears about how he and his twelve-year-old son Reid will manage to navigate Reid’s teenage years on their own。 Connor’s single-minded prayer has become, please, no more changes, but when single mom Jade Beck arrives to take on the job Sadie Murphy had done before her death, it becomes clear God has stamped his prayer request denied。

Jade Beck’s prayers were answered when she received the offer of a job as Lakeshore Lodge’s marketing and customer relations manager。 Or so she thought。 After a messy divorce, she and her two children need a safe place to land and find the peace their lives have lacked, but once she meets her abrupt, brooding supervisor, Mr。 Connor Murphy, her fresh start suddenly looks a bit…stale。 She’s already endured fifteen years living with a condescending man, and she won’t be a doormat anymore。

As the challenges of single parenting continually push them together, Jade and Connor’s relationship gradually transforms from cold and awkward to respectful and mutually supportive…and eventually to something deeper and more tender。 But navigating these changes forces them to deal with the hurts and disappointments of their pasts and confront the fears that hold them captive。

Surrendering their hopes and fears to God has never felt so daunting。 Can they learn to see the goodness of God, even in their broken paths, and trust that morning by morning, God’s tender mercies are ever new?

Morning by Morning, book 8 in the Murphy Brothers Stories, is a complex, emotional story of hope after heartache, of deeply moving, tender romance after devastating loss, and God’s faithful love, even in life’s hardest place。

Another beautiful storyThis was beautiful and sometimes hard。 Watching Conner and Jade struggle, although necessary to the story, tugged at my heart。 And isn't that what we want from a sweet love story with strong characters? I really enjoyed this Conner story maybe even more than his first one。 Not every series can handle one hero with two separate love stories。 Another beautiful storyThis was beautiful and sometimes hard。 Watching Conner and Jade struggle, although necessary to the story, tugged at my heart。 And isn't that what we want from a sweet love story with strong characters? Connor thought he couldn't possibly find love again after Sadie went home to Jesus。 Jade had so much unforgiveness because of the jerk she was married to before。 Add up the grief and other hard feelings of all the kids and you come up with a mess。 Is this mess too big for God to fix? Read this and see。 I was very glad for this next addition to the Murphy Brothers series。 Very well done! I never was expecting Conner to get another book。 Shoot。 But it was great and I really loved the children angle。 I loved all of their adventures。 I’m so sad this series is coming to an end but I can’t wait to see what Rodewald will come up with next!I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review。

Morning By Morning by Jennifer Rodewald is a charming contemporary Christian novel。 It is the eighth book in the Murphy Brothers series but can be read as a stand-alone。The book deals with the themes of loss, adjustment and new beginnings。 We see two broken families, grieving what has gone before – one family lost a mother to cancer, the other had a philandering husband。 Children and spouses are hurting。 They need to press into God and trust His faithfulness to see them through。 In the darkness Morning By Morning by Jennifer Rodewald is a charming contemporary Christian novel。 It is the eighth book in the Murphy Brothers series but can be read as a stand-alone。The book deals with the themes of loss, adjustment and new beginnings。 We see two broken families, grieving what has gone before – one family lost a mother to cancer, the other had a philandering husband。 Children and spouses are hurting。 They need to press into God and trust His faithfulness to see them through。 In the darkness of life, it is easy to think that God has abandoned us。 “God is still with my family, isn’t He?” God walks with us in the dark。 “Don’t lose eyes that look for God’s grace in the darkness。”。 His grace is sufficient for my weakness。 Great is His faithfulness。God wants us to be truthful with Him。 We do not need to pretend we are ok when we are not。 He wants our honesty and our hearts。 “I think God would rather hear my questions… than have me retreat into an angry silence。” We need to keep communication open。Life throws us challenges and hard times。 We cannot change that but “You can choose how to respond in life。” We can respond in bitterness or love。 Jesus asks us to live a life of love。There is the theme of forgiveness。 We must forgive or risk living life in a prison of bitterness。We witness the love of Jesus working through lives as they learn to trust Him and to press into Him。Knowing our Bible is important。 In the hard times we can reach for and hold on to the promises of God。I love all the Murphy Brothers books。 They always lodge in my heart。I will leave you with my favourite, very powerful quote:“[He] had acted ungodly。 But that didn’t change who God was。 God was faithful。 He was kind and good。”I received a free copy from the author。 A favourable review was not required。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

If you have read the Murphy Brothers series, then you will know that Morning by Morning is Connor Murphy’s second book。 He had previously found his happily ever after in Everything Behind Us, book three of the series and a gripping story that was based on the truth that the heroine of the story was battling cancer。 So, to find out that years later, Connor was broken over the loss of his wife and that this would be that story, I wasn’t sure I could handle it。 Yet, I also knew it was going to be a If you have read the Murphy Brothers series, then you will know that Morning by Morning is Connor Murphy’s second book。 He had previously found his happily ever after in Everything Behind Us, book three of the series and a gripping story that was based on the truth that the heroine of the story was battling cancer。 So, to find out that years later, Connor was broken over the loss of his wife and that this would be that story, I wasn’t sure I could handle it。 Yet, I also knew it was going to be a deeply moving and God honoring tale that, even through the difficult parts, would be uplifting。The author captured Connor and Reid’s grief and the life they were living day by day perfectly。 She also captured the feeling of failure and helplessness that Jade Beck was weighed down with after her divorce。 Jade’s kids were also a great example of the way different people handle anger and hurt。Another detail that was captured was Connor’s wonderful role of father to Reid。 And even the way he stepped in and worked to be a good role model to Jade’s kids。 He doubted himself often, yet was always diligent in trying to be there for those who needed him。I loved the work that God did on both Connor’s and Jade’s hearts as they began to fall in love。 However, it wasn’t just a simple fall, there were kids to consider and worries and uncertainty that both Connor and Jade carried regarding the future。 Could they risk their hearts again?I loved this story and wished there had been an epilogue to show us a peek at their future as a family together。 I was thrilled to see that there will be one more book in the series titled A Murphy Gathering, so I don’t have to leave these characters quite yet!(4。5 stars)I received a complimentary copy of this book。 All opinions are my own。You can read this review on my blog:https://brittreadsfiction。wordpress。c。。。 。。。more

What an emotional read! This has been such a fantastic, faith-stirring series。 I've really fallen in love with the Murphy family。 I've enjoyed getting to know them, following alongside them, and rooting for them as they've faced some tough real-life struggles。 This is Connor's second book。 I didn't know how I'd feel about that。 His and Sadie's story was a favorite。 An emotional ride, for sure, but oh so good。 This one was an emotional read too, for different reasons。 My heart broke for Connor an What an emotional read! Connor has been struggling in the two years since his beloved wife's death, and now it feels like his son Reid is pulling away from him。 He prays desperately for some time without change - only to find that his boss has hired someone new to take his wife's old role at the lodge: a woman of about his age, with two kids respectively older and younger than Reid。 Worse, he's attracted to her。 Jade's marriage was pretty terrible, but she held it together as long as she could。 When her husband left he Connor has been struggling in the two years since his beloved wife's death, and now it feels like his son Reid is pulling away from him。 He prays desperately for some time without change - only to find that his boss has hired someone new to take his wife's old role at the lodge: a woman of about his age, with two kids respectively older and younger than Reid。 Worse, he's attracted to her。 Jade's marriage was pretty terrible, but she held it together as long as she could。 When her husband left her for another woman and then asked her to move away, she found a job near her parents - only to meet a co-worker who evidently disapproves of her at first sight, but later turns out to have some qualities she had begun to doubt a man could ever have。 Can two wounded people find healing together, or is there too much between them?I enjoyed Connor's first story and was saddened by the mention of Sadie's cancer coming back in a subsequent book, but it was great to be able to watch him find love a second time - and to have another excuse to visit the Murphy family again! Both Connor and Jade have a lot to work through before they can really be together - and so do their kids。 But I really enjoyed the (often emotional) journey。 I particularly appreciated the way Connor developed, and the role siblings can play in helping each other。 All in all, a touching, inspiring, thought-provoking, satisfying story。 Highly recommended。Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author。 I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book。 。。。more

This was a deeply emotional read, dealing with loss and death as well as finding the courage to continue living。 It challenged me to be more, love deeper, and walk closer with Jesus。 There were funny moments, especially Jade’s inner monologues and Lily’s perspective on many things。 Ms。 Rodewald always delivers worthwhile fiction that meets difficult subjects head on without leaving her reader bleeding with no hope。 Rather, she excises the bad and fills you with so much hope and strength that you This was a deeply emotional read, dealing with loss and death as well as finding the courage to continue living。 It challenged me to be more, love deeper, and walk closer with Jesus。 There were funny moments, especially Jade’s inner monologues and Lily’s perspective on many things。 Ms。 Rodewald always delivers worthwhile fiction that meets difficult subjects head on without leaving her reader bleeding with no hope。 Rather, she excises the bad and fills you with so much hope and strength that you come away renewed。 I highly recommend this book。 。。。more

This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author。 Awesome story! It was a little harder on the heart to read because it not only featured the hurting adults, but also their hurting children。 There were a lot of Bible references and verses quoted, but action is what won out over fear。 I don't think my life was ever really a "wreck," but I can't help but agree with the line “I never imagined God would take the wreck of my life and rewrite it into this thing of wonder and beauty。” I' This is my voluntary review of a copy I received from the author。 Awesome story! It was a little harder on the heart to read because it not only featured the hurting adults, but also their hurting children。 There were a lot of Bible references and verses quoted, but action is what won out over fear。 I don't think my life was ever really a "wreck," but I can't help but agree with the line “I never imagined God would take the wreck of my life and rewrite it into this thing of wonder and beauty。” I'm glad I understand from where good things come, and who to call out to when it feels like the bad things are overwhelming me。 。。。more

'How much more, exactly, did God think he could take?'This is a stunning series。 I have loved each book as it released, and eagerly awaited the next in the series。 I was not disappointed ever in any of them。 These Murphy brothers are an amazing bunch, raised by godly parents and taught honesty, integrity, and a powerful godliness。 Jennifer Rodewald excels here, in each one。 Connor Murphy gets a second story here。 We first met him in a previous book when he felt led by God to marry a woman with c 'How much more, exactly, did God think he could take?'This is a stunning series。 I have loved each book as it released, and eagerly awaited the next in the series。 I was not disappointed ever in any of them。 These Murphy brothers are an amazing bunch, raised by godly parents and taught honesty, integrity, and a powerful godliness。 Jennifer Rodewald excels here, in each one。 Connor Murphy gets a second story here。 We first met him in a previous book when he felt led by God to marry a woman with cancer and a little boy。 What started out as a marriage of convenience quickly turned into a deep and abiding love。 When his beloved wife dies, Connor is devastated and can't seem to escape the pain, even two years later。 But it seems God has another plan in mind for him。 Jade Beck arrives to work at the same lodge Connor does with her two children in tow。 Jade carries enough hurt in her heart for more than one person。'God, is it ever going to get better?'Connor is an admirable, Jesus-filled man who always thinks long and hard and prays about every move he makes。 He is not ready for what looks like a new direction God has sent his way, but he is willing to be obedient。 Both Connor and Jade have been in hard places and known deep, heart-rending pain。 Neither can see that God can do anything that will take away the pain of their hearts。 But we serve a God that can make all things new, can make a road way in the wilderness and streams in the desert。 Jennifer Rodewald has a unique ability to plumb the absolute depths of human emotion in her characters。 So many times I have been moved to tears reading her stories。 This one ministered to a situation that I was going through in my own life while I was reading the book。 Isn't that just like God? I truly could feel these characters' pain。 Come along on this journey as we discover God always had something for His children even when they think the pain is all consuming and the light will never shine again。 Bravo! Oh! There is one more in the series。My thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book。 I was not expected to leave a positive review and the opinion here is entirely my own。 。。。more
