Summary

This rambunctious and big-hearted story of kindness--reminiscent of the Crayons and Cindy Lou Who--is written by the bestselling author of Ordinary People Change the World and illustrated by the Caldecott Medal-winning creator of Beekle

Sunday quit, just like that。 She said she was tired of being a day。 And so the other days of the week had no choice but to advertise: "WANTED: A NEW DAY。 Must be relaxing, tranquil, and replenishing。 Serious inquires only。" Soon lots of hopefuls arrived with their suggestions, such as Funday, Bunday, Acrobaturday, SuperheroDay, and even MonstersWhoResembleJellyfishDay! Things quickly got out of hand 。 。 。 until one more candidate showed up: a little girl with a thank-you gift for Sunday。 The girl suggested simply a nice day--a day to be kind。 And her gratitude made a calendar's worth of difference to Sunday, who decided she didn't need to quit after all。

When we appreciate each other a little bit more, all the days of the week can be brand-new days where everything is possible。

I love Dan Santat!

Brad Meltzer

My favorite author and a spectacular artist in Dan Santat。 I love and will never tire of writing biased reviews。

Tessa

Love this picture book, though it is probably a bit long for the target age。 Cute, funny, and has a great ending。

Alicia

I love the idea。。。。but felt like it went on for a bit too long before resolving the problem。 The art is so fantastically beautiful, which is exactly what I would expect from Dan Santat。

Sunday feels underappreciated and quits。。。so the rest of the days accept proposals for a new day。 The proposals quickly get out of hand, and in the end, everyone realizes that what Sunday needed was some gratitude and for every day to be an opportunity for kindness and to try something new。Unfortunately, I don't think that picture books with text and speech bubbles flow very well。。。and this had a lot of both。 Cute concept, but not my style。 Sunday feels underappreciated and quits。。。so the rest of the days accept proposals for a new day。 The proposals quickly get out of hand, and in the end, everyone realizes that what Sunday needed was some gratitude and for every day to be an opportunity for kindness and to try something new。Unfortunately, I don't think that picture books with text and speech bubbles flow very well。。。and this had a lot of both。 Cute concept, but not my style。 。。。more

Listening to illustrator Dan Santat (of A New Day) read aloud Melzer's newest was a highlight of my Saturday! All the days of the week have varying personalities and physical attributes。 But Sunday feels unnoticed and unappreciated, so he decides to quit。 What now? Pick a new day to replace Sunday。 Will it be Caturday? The cats sure hope so! A perfect comparison with The Day The Crayons Quit this story can evoke readers to create their own day - Superheroday for example。 I would highly recommend Listening to illustrator Dan Santat (of A New Day) read aloud Melzer's newest was a highlight of my Saturday! This is a bright and funny book about the days of the week。 When Sunday has had enough of being taken for granted and quits, the other days come together to hear pitches for replacement days。 Some are more general (like Funday), while others are quite specific (like FirepoleSlidingIntoPoolsofCottonCandyDay) but none of them seem quite right。 This funny take on the days of the week will please fans of The Day the Crayons Quit, Runaway Signs, and E-Mergency。

This is a really fun picture book based on the idea that Sunday just quit。。。 yes, she quit her day and they had to look for a new day of the week。 There are so many fun and silly suggestions that kids will love and then it's gets even more creative with combinations of ideas for different days。 And the pictures by Dan Santat are fabulously amazing as always! I know this will be a HUGE hit in our library and need to be preordered ASAP!Thanks to Edleweiss for the digital ARC。 This is a really fun picture book based on the idea that Sunday just quit。。。 yes, she quit her day and they had to look for a new day of the week。 There are so many fun and silly suggestions that kids will love and then it's gets even more creative with combinations of ideas for different days。 And the pictures by Dan Santat are fabulously amazing as always! Great book to have read on Sunday! What if one of the days of the week was feeling unappreciated and quit。 Would another day be found to fill the void? Or will a new solution be found。 A good story filled with humour and great art。
