The new National Geographic book， 100 Great American Parks by Stephanie Pearson， has everything you’ve come to expect in a National Geographic book。 It has awe inspiring beautiful pictures of the parks。 There are 100 parks in this book including all 63 national parks。 The foreword is by Garth Brooks discussing his travels as a touring musician and is very inspiring。 The introduction is full of interesting facts including that Boston Common was the first park in the United States in 1634 put in p The new National Geographic book， 100 Great American Parks by Stephanie Pearson， has everything you’ve come to expect in a National Geographic book。 It has awe inspiring beautiful pictures of the parks。 There are 100 parks in this book including all 63 national parks。 The foreword is by Garth Brooks discussing his travels as a touring musician and is very inspiring。 The introduction is full of interesting facts including that Boston Common was the first park in the United States in 1634 put in place as a space to graze cows。 Until 1817， a tree was used in the center for public hanging。 It has seen a lot of change over time。 Yellowstone National Park was the first national park in the world。 The U。S。 Park Service was established in 1916 to manage 420 units across 85 million acres。The book is split into five parts。 It starts with “The West and the Pacific” and has a wonderful section about the Grand Canyon National Park describing it with both words and fantastic pictures。 The White Sands National Park pictures brought back some happy memories of a trip there in college。 Part two is “Off the Mainland。” The stunning pictures really made me want to visit Alaska and Hawaii even more。 Part three is “the East and mid-Atlantic。” It gave me a new idea to try to look for the “Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historic Park” while we are in Maryland next month。 It made me excited about some places already on our list for our trip such as George Washington’s Mount Vernon。 Part four is “the south。 I found out that Arkansas had the first National River， the Buffalo National River。 It looks beautiful。 Part five is “the Midwest & Plains。” My only complaint is this section is very scant。 As a lifetime Midwesterner， there are a lot more beautiful parks here than represented。 The only park from Michigan was Isle Royale National Park and the only park from Wisconsin was the Apostle Island National Lakeshore。 Meanwhile western states like California had ten parks included。 The last section of the book is a great list on how to protect our parks。 Favorite Quote:“We all need a space to feel free。”Overall， 100 Great American Parks is a beautiful coffee table book to remember great places you’ve explored， plan ahead for new places to visit， or to “travel” from your own home through the wonderful pictures。Book Source: A Review Copy from Hachette Book Group as part of the TLC Book Tour。 Thank-you！ I received a complimentary copy of this book。 Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own。This review was first posted on my blog at: https://lauragerold。blogspot。com/2022。。。 。。。more

This beautiful book is filled with exactly the sort of gorgeous photographs one might expect from National Geographic。 This 400-page book provides an overview of 100 parks throughout all fifty states， including all 63 National Parks， as well as 37 state， recreational， and city parks and green spaces。 The text is organized into five geographic regions。 Each park’s entry includes the state where it's located， its size， the best time of year to visit， when it was established， and any accommodations This beautiful book is filled with exactly the sort of gorgeous photographs one might expect from National Geographic。 This 400-page book provides an overview of 100 parks throughout all fifty states， including all 63 National Parks， as well as 37 state， recreational， and city parks and green spaces。 The text is organized into five geographic regions。 Each park’s entry includes the state where it's located， its size， the best time of year to visit， when it was established， and any accommodations， as well as a brief narrative of the park’s history and significance， and of course， photographs。 Based on the brief sample I was provided， I don’t think the text is detailed enough to function as a travel guide， but this is a nice survey of the nation’s parks。At roughly 9 by 9 inches， this hardcover book is smaller than most coffee table books。 However， I’ve found that I like this size; it's easier to hold than a larger book。Thanks to National Geographic for providing me with an unproofed ARC sample through NetGalley。 。。。more

HOLD THE PHONE- This was just a sample but WHOA！ （Kinda mad that I got invested in some of the descriptions and they're cut off- give me more please！ ）The photography is STUNNING and breathtaking。 The book layout is grouped by geographical location， which I found to actually be brilliant- instead of being clumped alphabetically by state or name。 If you live （or are planning to visit） a specific area， finding a park would be a breeze。 Each park lists the state you'll find it in and a rich descrip HOLD THE PHONE- This was just a sample but WHOA！ （Kinda mad that I got invested in some of the descriptions and they're cut off- give me more please！ ）The photography is STUNNING and breathtaking。 The book layout is grouped by geographical location， which I found to actually be brilliant- instead of being clumped alphabetically by state or name。 If you live （or are planning to visit） a specific area， finding a park would be a breeze。 Each park lists the state you'll find it in and a rich description of its history and how it was founded/named/formed。 What I also found extremely cool was that there is a snippet of park information that helps maximize your visit- such as: size， best time to go， year established， and the in-park accommodations （if there is lodging， camping， etc）。 Another feature I thought was a great addition was info on if the park is known for a landmark， or unique wildlife sightings。 I'd love to visit a park that offers its own unique flora and fauna and actually KNOW what to look for。 Initially I thought this was a coffee-table type book where it gave some brief details on the parks while showcasing these gorgeous landscape photos but it was SO much more。 Very educational and informative- and the layout screams 'VISIT ME， BECAUSE' to its readers by making everything accessible and easy-to-use。 I've already added this to my wishlist and I DESPERATELY hope my family orders me a copy！ I will definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in traveling and exploring our beautiful country！ 。。。more

100 Great American Parks by Stephanie Pearson is a very interesting book。 My ARC was just a few pages instead of the whole thing， but it showed pictures and told history about the parks。 It also gave tips such as when is best to visit。 Looks like a very nice book。
