Summary

She vowed she’d never return to Faerie…
But vows were made to be broken。

As a human girl, Chloe is perfectly happy being back in the mortal realm where she belongs。 She's even become the town apothecary。 When a fae from her past shows up begging her to return to Faerie, she utterly refuses。

But then she finds out an angry group of mortals are using iron to hold an entire castle full of fae hostage。 And of course, the hostages include Chloe's older sister and her sister's beloved。

Reluctantly, Chloe packs a bag for what is supposed to be a short trip to Faerie。

But the mortals are more powerful than she expected。 To fuel them, they have weapons, flames, and revenge。 They won't stop until they control every court in Faerie。

With the help of a new and mysterious magic and a too-handsome-for-his-own-good fae companion, Chloe has to save Faerie before her sister and the other fae are killed。

The Fae and I have a love-hate relationship。 It's hard to explain why。 In a way they are intriguing, interesting, the kind of anti-heroes I like。 They're charming, but selfish。 They're intelligent, but always have a trick ready。 They're the heroes in their own stories, and the villains in so many others。 But, I never really had the kinda connection with them I have with for example vampires。 However, this story sounded nice and when I saw it available on BookSirens I decided to give it a go!And The Fae and I have a love-hate relationship。 It's hard to explain why。 In a way they are intriguing, interesting, the kind of anti-heroes I like。 They're charming, but selfish。 They're intelligent, but always have a trick ready。 They're the heroes in their own stories, and the villains in so many others。 But, I never really had the kinda connection with them I have with for example vampires。 However, this story sounded nice and when I saw it available on BookSirens I decided to give it a go!And let me start this review with stating that I love the heroine in this series! Don't get me wrong, I know that we need ladies capable of fighting with swords and pistols and fists, but not all strong heroines need to be fighters。 This heroine clearly wasn't one。 However, she was brave, she was willing to do what's best for others and she had a good head on her shoulders which she used to compensate for her lack of fighting skills。I also really loved our heroine's personal journey from the person she used to be to the person she could be。 In a way she reminds me a lot of myself。 I always feel guilty I didn't do enough, am not a good friend, are not as selfless as I should be。 I'm slowly trying to learn the lesson our heroine does learn during this story, but I still have a long way to go。 And so has our heroine。 I therefore can't wait to meet the person she'll become in the next books in the series。I have to admit that the plot was a little less my thing。 Mostly because I felt like something was missing and it's hard to put into words what。 Although I was never bored and never doubting continuing this book, I also think that apart from the personal journey of our heroine nothing much has happened。 And normally I don't mind that, but in this case I would have loved the main plot to be a little more present and a little more complicated。However, I will for sure also pick up the next book! (And maybe even the previous series set in this world!) 。。。more

I thought this book was a great read。 The characters capture your heart and you can’t put the book down until you know what happens next。 It had humor, hardship and an under lying desire。 How long can you fool yourself into thinking you hate him? Can they rescue the captives? Is there a cure? I received an advanced copy of this book for free and I’m leaving this review voluntarily。

I liked it! I really did! Do they succeed? What about the feelings for one another they tiptoe around? Exciting and relatable。 This high tale of a human apothecary girl and male fae friend is a highly excitable read。 From the moment I started it to the very end I could not put it down。 I went from a reading slump to a reading frenzy。 I am highly able to relate to Chloe and her inability to fight。 This is a sequel to Moody's Court of Bitter Thorn series, but it is not needed to understand this book and series。 I have only read the first series of the prequel and with that information it helped me Exciting and relatable。 This high tale of a human apothecary girl and male fae friend is a highly excitable read。 From the moment I started it to the very end I could not put it down。 I went from a reading slump to a reading frenzy。 I am highly able to relate to Chloe and her inability to fight。 This is a sequel to Moody's Court of Bitter Thorn series, but it is not needed to understand this book and series。 I have only read the first series of the prequel and with that information it helped me know a bit more of the world, but again, is not necessary to understand the book。 This was a wonderful read and I cannot wait for the next book! 。。。more

As always this series is perfect! I’ve loved the book。 At the beginning I felt some reticence to reed it because in the previous book Chloe seemed to end up hating everything to do with the fae, but the plot keeps you going no matter what。 It is a really amazing book and it doesn’t disappoint!!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review。 I also read the series Fae of Bitter Thorn this is the spin off of it。 And already I instantly neeeeeed more! Very fast paced, the mental written imagery is perfection, and full of action。 This story of Chloe and Quintus take us on another journey and leave us with an incredible cliffhanger。 Seems something is always going on in faerie and these sisters somehow end up involved。 Can Chloe and Quintus save Faerie? A great YA fantasy read with adventure and trials while trying to save a dying fairy realm。 This is the first book in a new spin off series from the author’s other series, Court of Bitter Thorn。 While I had not yet read the other series I didn’t find it difficult to follow along as the author did a good job of summarizing the relevant points to make us understand why it was mentioned in this novel。 I will be picking up those books later on though to fully understand Chloe and Quintus’ back story A great YA fantasy read with adventure and trials while trying to save a dying fairy realm。 This is the first book in a new spin off series from the author’s other series, Court of Bitter Thorn。 While I had not yet read the other series I didn’t find it difficult to follow along as the author did a good job of summarizing the relevant points to make us understand why it was mentioned in this novel。 I will be picking up those books later on though to fully understand Chloe and Quintus’ back story。 I would classify this novel as upper young adult to new adult。 The FMC is a little bit older than your average young adult heroine but unlike most New Adult I’ve read there isn’t a lot of sexual tension or sexual activity in this one。 Heads up that this novel does seem to be set more within a regency time period, so women end up in arranged marriages。 I enjoyed Chloe’s character and her desire to be independent and providing for herself (at least until she can find an appropriate husband)。 I enjoyed hearing more about her being the town’s apothecarian despite the taboo of a female working alone, especially in that field。 I wish we got to read about some of the events from Quintus’ view as we only get to see him through Chloe’s POV and I would have loved to know what he was thinking and feeling。 I enjoyed the storyline overall and can’t wait to see what comes next。 I will say some of the twists and turns at the end of the novel I absolutely was not expecting。 Highly recommend for the mystical and magical qualities, and for a young woman looking to figure out her place in society (or realm)。 。。。more

I love all books about fae and magic, intrigue and mystery。 You know it’s a good book when you start pulling on a thread and it unravels into something you didn’t expect or a place you didn’t think you’d wind up。 This book has all the components that make a page turner of a book。 From an unexpected heroine, a handsome fae, mortals rebelling against magic, to the breadth of new magic。I absolutely love Chloe as the main heroine of the story。 A mere mortal with a half brother that is a fae who has I love all books about fae and magic, intrigue and mystery。 You know it’s a good book when you start pulling on a thread and it unravels into something you didn’t expect or a place you didn’t think you’d wind up。 This book has all the components that make a page turner of a book。 From an unexpected heroine, a handsome fae, mortals rebelling against magic, to the breadth of new magic。I absolutely love Chloe as the main heroine of the story。 A mere mortal with a half brother that is a fae who has chosen to live in the mortal realm where she feels she belongs。 In fact she has finally found her place as an apothecary in her mortal town, healing the residents with poultices mixed together from fae recipes。 Her picture perfect life is unexpectedly interrupted by the one fae Chloe never wanted to see again Quintus。 It hurts for a fae to need to come beg for help from a mortal especially with one that has so much history with him。 But with the mortals having developed iron weapons and holding an entire fae castle hostage which also happens to be where Chloe’s sister is with her husband。 Quintus has no choice but to go to Chloe after all it’ll take a mortal with extreme love on the line to combat the revengeful crowd that has descended onto the fairy castle。 Can Chloe, a mere mortal not only save her sister and the fae but can she do it while guarding her heart against the one person that has the power to decimate it?If you like fantasy novels mixed with action and romance in the form of enemies to lovers then this book is perfect for you。 Or if you are looking for an engaging new read this is an excellent choice that may get you hooked on a new genre。 。。。more

This book was so very good!! I am excited to read the 2nd book in the series to see where it goes。 Chloe is a mortal who is happy to stay where she is in the mortal world but finds herself back in Faerie。 Chloe is an apothecary who helps others without thinking about herself。 While in Faerie, she grows and learns things about herself that she never noticed before。 She finds herself trying to help both mortals and faeries。

Kay L Moody has a great writing style and this book is no different。 This series continues the last Bitter Thorn series that depicted the life of Elora and Prince Brannick, which is one of the best series that I have ever read。 This book is the start of a new series focusing on Elora's second sister Chloe。 While the writing style and plot are great (KL Moody books always are!), I was never quite as engaged with the characters of Chloe and her old fae flame as I was with Elora and Brannick。 Never Kay L Moody has a great writing style and this book is no different。 This series continues the last Bitter Thorn series that depicted the life of Elora and Prince Brannick, which is one of the best series that I have ever read。 This book is the start of a new series focusing on Elora's second sister Chloe。 While the writing style and plot are great (KL Moody books always are!), I was never quite as engaged with the characters of Chloe and her old fae flame as I was with Elora and Brannick。 Nevertheless, Chloe has matured in this tale and tried to build a life for herself as an apothecary outside of the world of fae。 However, her old flame Quintus is back requesting her help to save the fae from the mortals who are wielding iron。 While initially reluctant to help, she eventually does as the iron poisoning effects are also seen in the human world。 While not the 'can't put the book down' story that the original Bitter Thorn series was, the tale holds much promise and is still a great read。 4/5 stars 。。。more
