Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn comes the story of Benedict Bridgerton, in the third of her beloved Regency-set novels featuring her charming, powerful Bridgerton family, now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix。

BENEDICT’S STORY

Sophie Beckett never dreamed she’d be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton’s famed masquerade ball—or that “Prince Charming” would be waiting there for her! Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother。 But now, spinning in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty。 Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight。

Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other—except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid’s garb whom he feels compelled to rescue from a most disagreeable situation。 He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her。 Yet, if he offers her his heart, will Benedict sacrifice his only chance for a fairy-tale love?

Things I enjoyed:Sophie was grand。 I appreciated that she really did stand up for herself and her morals and I sympathized with her struggles。 She and Benedict’s little witty back and forth was fun。 Violet Bridgerton is lovely and I always enjoy seeing the siblings interact。 Overall, the book was just pure vibes。 I read it in a day basically。 I do think it would’ve been more interesting to have Sophie and Benedict marry despite the class difference。 As in - it would’ve been wild to see him propo Things I enjoyed:Sophie was grand。 I appreciated that she really did stand up for herself and her morals and I sympathized with her struggles。 She and Benedict’s little witty back and forth was fun。 Violet Bridgerton is lovely and I always enjoy seeing the siblings interact。 Overall, the book was just pure vibes。 I read it in a day basically。 I do think it would’ve been more interesting to have Sophie and Benedict marry despite the class difference。 As in - it would’ve been wild to see him propose while she was a lady’s maid since all the books so far have generally had acceptable marriages。 As per usual, I read this book after watching season 2 of the Netflix show。 Honestly, Benedict is one of my favorites and I really wish they could explore a storyline where he’s queer, but that’s not really related to this book。 Just something I wanted to share LOL。 。。。more

This was a different kinda story than the previous 2。 There were not as many balls and courtly intrigue, there was more time in the country, more time of B and S getting to know each other as she cared for him while he was sick。 There is also more time that elapses between their first meeting and them starting some sort of relationship。 This starts in 1815 and then skips ahead to 1817I did actually like the very start and the Cinderella type story line。 I did enjoy Sophie, her spirit and being a This was a different kinda story than the previous 2。 There were not as many balls and courtly intrigue, there was more time in the country, more time of B and S getting to know each other as she cared for him while he was sick。 There is also more time that elapses between their first meeting and them starting some sort of relationship。 This starts in 1815 and then skips ahead to 1817I did actually like the very start and the Cinderella type story line。 I did enjoy Sophie, her spirit and being able to pick her self up after tragedy。I had issues with Benedict。 like most other reviewers had。 He was narrow minded in what he could have and do in regards to S。 He comes around and realized that his offering and then forcing her to the ultimatum was wrong。 Though I don't think it was entirely class based as to why he could only offer a mistress position at first, since in his head he was still holding out for his mystery dancer。 He is a hero at times but like all people he is flawed and can't always see past his trappings。This ends (view spoiler)[ jumping forward to 1824 and unlike the first two books sets up the next story in 1824, jumping quite a bit of time, rather than setting the next book to start in 1819 (hide spoiler)]I am curious how this story will be translated into the show, how far they will depart from the source material thought the class divide in this is already set up for lots of drama。 。。。more

this was kind of a let down because of the expectations i had。 the last book was flawless and i loved it to pieces, but this one didn’t give me the same feeling。 i was so excited for this at the start, a cinderella retelling and especially, because of the show, benedict automatically became one of my favorites。 even more now with the new season。 but the benedict in this book just…。 pissed me off at times。first of all, when he kept on insisting for sophie to be his mistress。 that was the first mo this was kind of a let down because of the expectations i had。 the last book was flawless and i loved it to pieces, but this one didn’t give me the same feeling。 i was so excited for this at the start, a cinderella retelling and especially, because of the show, benedict automatically became one of my favorites。 even more now with the new season。 but the benedict in this book just…。 pissed me off at times。first of all, when he kept on insisting for sophie to be his mistress。 that was the first moment where i became doubtful, then he wouldn’t stop。 and then, when learning that sophie was the woman in silver, he gets mad again?? idk i wanted to slap some sense into him。 he (kinda) redeemed himself in the end tho i’ll give him that。 but i still don’t know。yeah other than that i thought it was cute, sophie was really great and lovely and the ending was satisfying in a sense so it’s ok。 。。。more

I thought it was going to be my favorite book because I loved Benedict on the tv show。 Sadly, the story lacked a plot。 It was confusing how they managed to fall in love because I didn't feel the chemestry and they didn't seem to have a strong intellectual connection like the other couples。 I thought it was going to be my favorite book because I loved Benedict on the tv show。 Sadly, the story lacked a plot。 It was confusing how they managed to fall in love because I didn't feel the chemestry and they didn't seem to have a strong intellectual connection like the other couples。 。。。more

It was interesting book, but I DID NOT LIKE BENEDICT。 The netflix Benedict seems so much more appealing。 I wanted to give this book a chance because how much I liked the character in season 1 and season 2。 But i want to say I was disappointed。 I enjoyed some parts of the book but the way Benedict acts just doesn't sit well with me。 Hope series can change some of the plot for next season。 Overall not a bad book when you want to pass time and have nothing productive to do。 It was interesting book, but I DID NOT LIKE BENEDICT。 The netflix Benedict seems so much more appealing。 I wanted to give this book a chance because how much I liked the character in season 1 and season 2。 But i want to say I was disappointed。 I enjoyed some parts of the book but the way Benedict acts just doesn't sit well with me。 Hope series can change some of the plot for next season。 Overall not a bad book when you want to pass time and have nothing productive to do。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Another good book about The Bridgertons。 This book was a Cinderella retelling with the 2nd oldest Bridgerton brother, Benedict, and Sophie Beckett, who was a maid to her evil stepmother。 Benedict, in typical Cinderella fashion, sees her at a masked ball, but this time the girl gets away for 2 years。。。only for Benedict to meet her at another party as the maid there。He quickly falls in love with Sophie, but there is a special place in his heart for the "woman in silver" whom he met at the ball 2 y Another good book about The Bridgertons。 This book was a Cinderella retelling with the 2nd oldest Bridgerton brother, Benedict, and Sophie Beckett, who was a maid to her evil stepmother。 Benedict, in typical Cinderella fashion, sees her at a masked ball, but this time the girl gets away for 2 years。。。only for Benedict to meet her at another party as the maid there。He quickly falls in love with Sophie, but there is a special place in his heart for the "woman in silver" whom he met at the ball 2 years ago。。。not realizing they are one in the same! What will happen once Benedict realizes Sophie hid the truth from him? And what will happen once her evil stepmother finds her? Read the book and see!I really enjoyed this story。 Benedict and Sophie were engaging characters and the plot was very interesting。 My only reason for not giving this story 5 stars is that it was not nearly as steamy as the first 2 books。 There was only 1 smex scene between Benedict and Sophie (and a second one mostly off page at the end)。 Other than that, it was very good and I do recommend it。 I just would have preferred most smexxy times between the main characters。 。。。more

I love Benedict! He's brooding, funny, witty, charismatic, and charming。 I enjoyed Sophie and how she was determined to be herself and not let anyone force her to be something else。 I love Benedict! The best plot so far with high stakes。 Sadly Benedict ruined that to a degree。

Honestly。。。 after reading The Viscount Who Loved Me, I had really really high hope for Benedict's story。 I think this was supposed to be an attempt at a Cinderella retelling but it completely flopped for me。 So much miscommunication/withholding the truth which is just annoying to me。 I also hated that Benedict asked Sophie to be his mistress and he was like that's good enough for me。 I feel like it cheapened his character。 And the way the story resolved just kind of gave me the ick tbh。 I was cr Honestly。。。 after reading The Viscount Who Loved Me, I had really really high hope for Benedict's story。 I think this was supposed to be an attempt at a Cinderella retelling but it completely flopped for me。 So much miscommunication/withholding the truth which is just annoying to me。 I also hated that Benedict asked Sophie to be his mistress and he was like that's good enough for me。 I feel like it cheapened his character。 And the way the story resolved just kind of gave me the ick tbh。 I was cringing so hard。 。。。more

He disfrutado de la historia pero probablemente sea la pareja que menos me ha gustado del universo Bridgerton。 Es algo más lento y con bastantes clichés, aunque sumamente adictivo。 3,5/5

Liked Sophie, LOVED violet bridgerton, hated Benedict for the first two thirds but he redeemed himself by the end。 Would be nice to read a Bridgerton brother book where the brother isn’t sexist at all though, but overall it was pretty cute
