Summary

Emma was quite certain she'd never fall in love again。 But then she met an obituary writer, Leo, and within months, they were engaged。 Seven years later came Ruby, their daughter, and then John Keats, their rescue dog。 Now Emma, a marine biologist, has her perfect little ecosystem。 They are happy, crammed into the tiny house her grandmother left her。
Leo was adopted as a baby, and this noisy, joyous little family is the first place he has ever felt he belongs。 In fact, everything would be just perfect if Emma was who she said she was。 If Emma was even her real name 。 。 。
Because of Emma's preeminence in her field, Leo is asked to write his own wife's obituary while she is still alive。 That's when he finds that the woman he thinks he knows doesn't really exist。 As Leo starts to unravel the truth about the stranger in his bed, Emma's old life breaks out of the carefully cultivated shell she created, threatening to wash away everything she has worked so hard to build。
When the very darkest moments of Emma's past finally emerge, she must somehow prove to Leo that she really is the woman he always thought she was。
But first, she must tell him about the love of her other life。

I really wanted to love this book。 The storyline, was unraveled, is great。 But I didn’t love the storytelling。 I won’t say more so I don’t spoil anything。

Overall I enjoyed Rosie Walsh's "The Love of My Life" with a few caveats。 I enjoyed her previous novel "Ghosted;" this was equally well written and well developed。 The characters were generally likable and fleshed out。 I did feel the plot was drawn out excessively, though, with needless segues and serpentine turns that did little for the development of the plot。As a disclaimer - two of the main characters have had issues with adoption。 In both regards, the adoptions were cast in a negative light Overall I enjoyed Rosie Walsh's "The Love of My Life" with a few caveats。 I enjoyed her previous novel "Ghosted;" this was equally well written and well developed。 The characters were generally likable and fleshed out。 I did feel the plot was drawn out excessively, though, with needless segues and serpentine turns that did little for the development of the plot。As a disclaimer - two of the main characters have had issues with adoption。 In both regards, the adoptions were cast in a negative light, be it divulging the adoption to an adult child, having a child given up under false pretenses, or portraying the adoptive parent as unstable。 As an adoptive parent, it saddened me to see that nowhere was adoption portrayed with a positive outcome。 Generally I will stop reading books when I see this is the path they are taking, but I kept hoping Walsh would find some redemption in these plots and sub plots。 But she did not。 This was disappointing to me。 Overall, "The Love of My Life" is a good, if not over-written, read。 But if you are an adoptive parent, I would suggest perhaps you find another book in this genre。 。。。more

What if one mistake and a lie changed your life? Could you recover? Is it okay to re-invent yourself at the potential cost of others。 Gripping anf heartbreaking story of love, loss, and redemption。 Felt it bogged down a bit in the middle but didnt not see the ending。

Didn’t live up to the hype for me。 An ok read。

This book delivered! Great character development, excellent plot, secrets and more secrets with plenty of suspense。 A page turner, it kept me guessing with details unfolding slowly。A good read!!!!

Fans of Sally Hepworth will love this。 The suspense/thriller aspect kept it moving, and each time I thought I had it figured out it took a turn that made it that much more fun。 The audio narration definitely added to the experience。 Thanks to Penguin Random House for the early review copy。

Trying to decide between 4-4。5 stars。 Definitely a poignant, heart wrenching story! The ending felt slightly abrupt- like they found out all this stuff and didn’t fully resolve it。 I wish that part had been a little more complete。

I have SO much to say about Rosie Walsh’s new book, The Love of My Life, but unfortunately, I cannot tell you。 If I do, I feel like I’d give so many details away, and that’s the last thing I want for your reading experience。 As it states in the synopsis, Emma is keeping a major secret from her husband, Leo。 Something BIG happened in her past, and she does NOT want him to know about it。 I will tell you that it’s a mysterious, heartbreaking, and intriguing page-turner that kept me up way past my b I have SO much to say about Rosie Walsh’s new book, The Love of My Life, but unfortunately, I cannot tell you。 If I do, I feel like I’d give so many details away, and that’s the last thing I want for your reading experience。 As it states in the synopsis, Emma is keeping a major secret from her husband, Leo。 Something BIG happened in her past, and she does NOT want him to know about it。 I will tell you that it’s a mysterious, heartbreaking, and intriguing page-turner that kept me up way past my bedtime。 The beginning of this novel really lagged, in my opinion。 The author took a long time to set up the characters and the plot, but once things got rolling - BAM! I was hooked, and honestly couldn’t put it down。 I kept thinking, “OMG, what the heck did this woman do?” I just had to know how things would unfold。 Walsh keeps the reader on their toes with a few shocking twists, (one left my jaw on the floor) and even a little suspense from time to time。 A few reviewers have compared this book to Laura Dave’s bestseller, The Last Thing He Told Me。 I agree with this comparison for the most part。 In Dave’s novel, the wife is trying to uncover her husband’s past。 In Walsh’s, it’s the opposite as the husband is doing the digging。 So yes, a similar vibe, that’s for sure。 Overall, I thought this was a touching story about motherhood, marriage, and family。 I highly recommend it。 。。。more

3。5 rounded up。 The writing was good。 The characters were developed well and I was intrigued to keep reading, what I thought at the beginning was different at the end。 But, again, I just found the ending to be fine, nothing spectacular and it didn't blow me away。 3。5 rounded up。 The writing was good。 The characters were developed well and I was intrigued to keep reading, what I thought at the beginning was different at the end。 But, again, I just found the ending to be fine, nothing spectacular and it didn't blow me away。 。。。more

This book was THIS close to being 5 stars for me, but the end dragged (and was kind of cheesy)。 Emma and Leo have been married for some time and have a young daughter, Ruby。 Leo is an obituary writer, and as part of his job he writes advance obits for well-known people, so he'll be prepared in the case of their death。 Emma - a famous marine biologist - is recovering from a cancer diagnosis, and in looking into her past, Leo discovers she's not been completely truthful。 The more he starts to inve This book was THIS close to being 5 stars for me, but the end dragged (and was kind of cheesy)。 Emma and Leo have been married for some time and have a young daughter, Ruby。 Leo is an obituary writer, and as part of his job he writes advance obits for well-known people, so he'll be prepared in the case of their death。 Emma - a famous marine biologist - is recovering from a cancer diagnosis, and in looking into her past, Leo discovers she's not been completely truthful。 The more he starts to investigate, the more suspicious he gets。 I thought this was a clever premise for a novel, and I enjoyed the way the author kept details shrouded during the first part of the book。 Once we flash back to Emma's earlier life, we understand some of the decisions she made。 Although the end was sort of a letdown, it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the book in general。 。。。more

The Love of My LifeRosie Walsh5 ⭐️ I’ve seen mixed reviews, which I can understand- the beginning might feel slow and confusing, as details trickle in but stick with it。 Just like her Ghosted, this one sucked me all the way to the end。

I liked this book for most of it。 The ending fell flat for me。 Too many loose ends for my taste。

I keep seeing this book being marketed as a thriller, but it's much more along the lines of domestic suspense。 It was a slow build and some of the events felt like a bit of a stretch, but this was a decent read。 And you gotta love that cover。 I keep seeing this book being marketed as a thriller, but it's much more along the lines of domestic suspense。 It was a slow build and some of the events felt like a bit of a stretch, but this was a decent read。 And you gotta love that cover。 。。。more

Not as good as I was hoping and expecting, but it was still an intriguing story。 It started out a little slow for me but then it picked up and finished off pretty strong。 Another review I read compared it to Laura Daves book, The Last Thing He Told Me, and I 100% agree。 Definitely felt those vibes all through the book, but this one had a lot better ending, in my opinion。 There were a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming and I felt some suspense too while reading this。 The characters in Not as good as I was hoping and expecting, but it was still an intriguing story。 It started out a little slow for me but then it picked up and finished off pretty strong。 Another review I read compared it to Laura Daves book, The Last Thing He Told Me, and I 100% agree。 Definitely felt those vibes all through the book, but this one had a lot better ending, in my opinion。 There were a few twists and turns that I didn't see coming and I felt some suspense too while reading this。 The characters in this book are well developed and it is well written。 Overall, a book I would reccomend。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 If you can get past the far fetched premise, this could be a rather compelling story。 Starts slowly and is a little too long。 Marine bio Emma and obit writer Leo have a storybook romance, together for 10 years with a daughter Ruby。 But then Leo finds out while at uni, Emma had a one night stand with a charismatic married scoundrel and got pregnant。 The scoundrel’s cousin Jeremy is supportive and says, no pressure, he and wife Janice are happy to adopt a child as they have been trying for a while If you can get past the far fetched premise, this could be a rather compelling story。 Starts slowly and is a little too long。 Marine bio Emma and obit writer Leo have a storybook romance, together for 10 years with a daughter Ruby。 But then Leo finds out while at uni, Emma had a one night stand with a charismatic married scoundrel and got pregnant。 The scoundrel’s cousin Jeremy is supportive and says, no pressure, he and wife Janice are happy to adopt a child as they have been trying for a while。 Emma initially agrees, but then has a health scare and realizes how much she loves the baby and reneges。 After the birth she suffers from postpartum depression and post partum psychosis and tries to smother the baby。 Terrified, she agrees to the adoption。 Of course, she has regrets and regularly spies on her son (Charlie)。 A restraining order is put on her and she gets sacked for having a criminal record。 She changes her name, finishes uni and gets on with her life。 She then meets Leo and realizes it is the opportunity for a second chance。Here’s where the story lost me: Leo finds out he is adopted and takes it hard and so cancer survivor Emma never tells him her truth。 Really? Jeremy is convinced that the whole stalking episodes irrevocably changed Janice who became more anxious etc。 She goes missing, and so Jeremy and Charlie look to Emma for clues。 Because as it turns out Janice made up the story, that Emma was actually just playing peek a boo, in order to get Charlie。 Charlie finds out via his mom’s diary and confronts her。 And that’s why Janice disappeared。 Emma helps find Janice (for Charlie’s sake) and she begins to build relationship with him。 Leo and Emma reconcile。 IMHO, ending was also a bit contrived and predictable。 BFF Jill was thrown in there as a red herring。 She has known Emma since the beginning and protects her and ultimately arranges the meeting with Charlie。 -Last month, Leo found some paprika 17 YEARS out of date in my spice rack 。。。more

Just finished reading this very interesting and good book about a marriage that can start off good, but with secrets eveything can fall apart quickly。 This is the love story of Leo and Emma, how the secrets Emma holds from her past can damage her life and marrige now in the present。 I enjoyed the story and the characters seemed to come to life in the story so well。
