Summary

Here's a totally twisted take on the alphabet that invites readers to look at it in a whole new way: An A is an H that just won't stand up right, a B is a D with its belt on too tight, and a Z is an L in a tug-of-war fight! Twenty-six letters, unique from each other -- and yet, every letter looks just like one another! Kind of like。。。one big family。

This is a fun book and nice play on similarities。I enjoyed the 'twist" on letter identities with spins and splits and too tight belts。 This is a fun book and nice play on similarities。I enjoyed the 'twist" on letter identities with spins and splits and too tight belts。 。。。more

Interesting concept。 My son was a bit bored by it though。 He may need to be a little older to thoroughly enjoy。The message to decode at the end was a highlight in my day。 I doubt any child would actually do it though。

I can't decide if this would help or confuse a kiddo learning to read that has dyslexia lol。 As an adult with dyslexia, I think it's very cute and clever and fun。 It could also be a great book for siblings who always get called by the other's name! A fun activity could be for kids to take the letters of their name (like paper letters or even using playdough, clay, shaving cream etc) and make them look like the other letters。 See if they can come up with a new name for themselves if they like! A story that is definitely told through pictures, it just wouldn't work otherwise。 A story that is definitely told through pictures, it just wouldn't work otherwise。 。。。more

I love all these creative alphabet books。 I think this may be for kids who know their ABCs。 Colorful illustrations add to the fun of the story。 The illustrations really help show the words in the story。 I recommend this one。

Deciding to clear my Kindle and books I had been sent, I was in the mood for something quick to read and lately, I have been busy clearing the picture books that I have been sent to read and review。 This cute one is set at Alphabet school where each of the letters attends and shows that even though we are all unique and different in the ways that we can also connect - for example - a T is an I with a hat on it, etc。 I thought this was an awesome way to not only teach your children the alphabet b Deciding to clear my Kindle and books I had been sent, I was in the mood for something quick to read and lately, I have been busy clearing the picture books that I have been sent to read and review。 This cute one is set at Alphabet school where each of the letters attends and shows that even though we are all unique and different in the ways that we can also connect - for example - a T is an I with a hat on it, etc。 I thought this was an awesome way to not only teach your children the alphabet but also an easy way to teach them how to form their letters as quite a few children struggle when forming their letters, even more so now that we live in a digital world。 The illustrations were also very bright and colorful and fun at the same time。 This book is perfect for children aged 4 - 8 years old。 。。。more

This is such a neat book。 I like the completely different way the author looks at letters and how they could be related (based on actions they're doing to change their shapes)。 This is such a neat book。 I like the completely different way the author looks at letters and how they could be related (based on actions they're doing to change their shapes)。 。。。more

Super cute ! I’ve always loved kids books that have alphabet letters that either talk or represent something 。 We really enjoyed this book。

An interesting analysis of the alphabet, though probably not recommended for those just learning it :)。 My favorite: "An H is a U with a pair of stilts on。" P。S。 Santat's illustrations are always welcome in my book! Loved this super creative rendition of the alphabet。 Harris and Santat's collaboration is amazing here。 Readers get to see the abc's in a whole new light, where though uniquely different from one another, each alphabet bears some resemblance to another。 Word plays coupled with the illustrations that bring the words to life make this such a fun book! I didn't know the ABC's could be so creatively presented! Such a clever book with which shows how things can be similar but different at the same time。 I really enjoy Dan Santat as an illustrator。

Think alphabet book really thinks outside the box。 Focused less on sounds and more on shape, the narrator tells us a story that shows how one letter might be disguised as another。 Santat's style of illustrations shows each instance really well and sneaks in some jokes in the pictures。 Some of these are so outrageous and creative! Have you ever noticed the similarities between certain letters? Harris and Santat challenge you to look at the alphabet letters in a whole new way。A humorous look at the alphabet that plays with imagination and perception。 This borders on optical illusions, and in a round about (and I'm not sure if it was intentional or not) way also illustrates why some people may have trouble distinguishing one letter from another。 The message of the book encourages kids to look for similarities between humans Have you ever noticed the similarities between certain letters? I gave this one four stars, because while I think it's a FANTASTIC book as an adult, it definitely goes way over Dallin's head on almost every page。 I think this is a fun concept and the illustrations are beautiful, but Dallin has trouble understanding the meaning of the letter's looking like each other。 I gave this one four stars, because while I think it's a FANTASTIC book as an adult, it definitely goes way over Dallin's head on almost every page。 I think this is a fun concept and the illustrations are beautiful, but Dallin has trouble understanding the meaning of the letter's looking like each other。 。。。more

4。25 stars, I loved it, what a fun take on the 'classic' alphabet book! There's a a lot of humor and laughs in this one。 I cannot wait to see if kids love it as much as me。Fans of Dan Santat and picture books with humor will want to check this one out。 4。25 stars, I loved it, what a fun take on the 'classic' alphabet book! Supremely clever concept and perfectly executed by Dan Santant's illustrations。 I do think the older the audience, the better it will be enjoyed。 A really strong background of letter knowledge is essential。 Supremely clever concept and perfectly executed by Dan Santant's illustrations。 I do think the older the audience, the better it will be enjoyed。 A really strong background of letter knowledge is essential。 。。。more

Cute and witty way to look at the similarities and differences between uppercase alphabet letters。 Some of the examples are more of a stretch than others。 May go over the heads of itty bitties just learning letter recognition, but olders will enjoy deciding whether or not they agree with each page, as well as perhaps coming up with their own stories about the letters' appearances。 Cute and witty way to look at the similarities and differences between uppercase alphabet letters。 Some of the examples are more of a stretch than others。 May go over the heads of itty bitties just learning letter recognition, but olders will enjoy deciding whether or not they agree with each page, as well as perhaps coming up with their own stories about the letters' appearances。 。。。more

My kids would give this book 4。5 stars。 Great illustrations and a clever story that rhymes and makes you think about the shapes of letters。 We were very fond of the decoding challenge on the end page。

A look at how all the letters of the alphabet are actually other letters in different forms。 (ex: a B is a D with a belt on too tight。) A clever take on how we're all connected and, of course, Dan Santat's illustrations add to the fun and humor。 A look at how all the letters of the alphabet are actually other letters in different forms。 (ex: a B is a D with a belt on too tight。) A clever take on how we're all connected and, of course, Dan Santat's illustrations add to the fun and humor。 。。。more

What's not to love about individual letters of the alphabet in school? Teacher wants to help each individual realize that even though they're unique they have similarities as well - for example F is really just an E on a ski。 Connectivity to each other and creativity abound in this wonderful picture book!
