As a testament to how differently we treat adaptations depending on which version we saw first， to me the Grinch is the Jim Carrey movie。 Finally reading the original story that birthed this angry fella with a heart too small， I felt something was missing from it。 Certainly a part of me simply wishes that it would be overall longer and for a more mature audience， but even for children， I felt like the movie had brought something important to it by fleshing out the story。 Here the story simply be As a testament to how differently we treat adaptations depending on which version we saw first， to me the Grinch is the Jim Carrey movie。 Finally reading the original story that birthed this angry fella with a heart too small， I felt something was missing from it。 Certainly a part of me simply wishes that it would be overall longer and for a more mature audience， but even for children， I felt like the movie had brought something important to it by fleshing out the story。 Here the story simply begins after 53 years， Grinch finally decides that he's had enough and steals Christmas。 He promptly does this and then learns that no， it wasn't that。The heart of the story seemed， to me， missing。 The lovable grumpiness of Grinch who does not want to go out because people are dumb （more and more relateable as the years go by）， who the Who-villians even are， or what kind of odd relationship Grinch and his dog Max have， seem all somewhat gone in this original story。The greatest offering of the story was its rhyming storytelling which seems like brilliant and obvious element to a story meant to be read out loud。 However， the entire story did not flow as merrily as I'd had hoped。（Also， as mentioned by my captivated audience， my spouse， the red color was a tad bit too intense） 。。。more
