Summary

She does everything right。 So what could go wrong?

Mackenzie "Mac" Cabot is a people pleaser。 Her demanding parents。 Her prep school friends。 Her long-time boyfriend。 It's exhausting, really, always following the rules。 Unlike most twenty-year-olds, all she really wants to do is focus on growing her internet business, but first she must get a college degree at her parents' insistence。 That means moving to the beachside town of Avalon Bay, a community made up of locals and the wealthy students of Garnet College。

Mac's had plenty of practice suppressing her wilder impulses, but when she meets local bad boy Cooper Hartley, that ability is suddenly tested。 Cooper is rough around the edges。 Raw。 Candid。 A threat to her ordered existence。 Their friendship soon becomes the realest thing in her life。

Despite his disdain for the trust-fund kids he sees coming and going from his town, Cooper soon realizes Mac isn't just another rich clone and falls for her。 Hard。 But as Mac finally starts feeling accepted by Cooper and his friends, the secret he's been keeping from her threatens the only place she's ever felt at home。

This was my first Elle Kennedy book, and now I am hooked! Good Girl Complex was very fun and very hot。 I usually hate the "you made a bet?!" trope, but this was done very well and didn't drag on。 I did actually hate coopers friends, though - luckily, they were not often in the book! The narrators were absolutely fantastic and brought the story to life。 I love a dual POV audiobook, especially a romance。 Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read this early! I can see why people feel this is similar to After but I honestly loved it so much more so I’m not even mad about it! Mac and Cooper are amazing together。 I also loved every single side character and cannot wait for books about each of them!

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Was going to give this a 3 but argh that freaking ending that literally just dropped us, caused a star dropCute, fluffy romance storyline

Kat

A very average romance。 Tried to fit every trope and cliche in to the point that it felt too much。 Definitely pacing problems。

I listened to this one on audio。 I enjoyed the narration from both narrators, Cooper's narrator a little more。 I think I said "Damn!" out loud a few times。 Definitely held my attention。 I really enjoyed Mackenzie's character。 She was a strong female lead who really knew what she wanted。 While the book started off a little juvenile in the nature of why Cooper started to pursue Mac, I really enjoyed it。 really thought I was going to quit after the first chapter or two though, because I felt like t I listened to this one on audio。 I enjoyed the narration from both narrators, Cooper's narrator a little more。 I think I said "Damn!" out loud a few times。 Definitely held my attention。 I really enjoyed Mackenzie's character。 She was a strong female lead who really knew what she wanted。 While the book started off a little juvenile in the nature of why Cooper started to pursue Mac, I really enjoyed it。 really thought I was going to quit after the first chapter or two though, because I felt like this book wasn't for me。 I tend to give audiobooks a little more give than an ebook physical book though, so I stuck with it since I was multitasking。 I am glad I did。 I also liked most of the side characters and all the banter。 I kept in mind that these were young adults in their 20s, so not all their decisions are the best。 I think we were all a mess and doing stupid things in our early 20s, weren't we? Bottom Line: I enjoyed this one, but there were a few things in the plot I didn't love。 If you don't want any spoilers, don't read any more of this。 I don't usually like books that have cheating。 Especially in this situation where two characters were cheating, and then one ends up with their side piece the day they broke up with their significant other。 Its tacky and messy。 But since there was deception and other things going on all around in this book, it works。 One other thing I didn't like was that Cooper has all his friends playing along and lying to Mac。 No one deserves that, no matter how they feel about the "clones。"**I received a copy of Good Girl Complex from NETGALLEY in exchange for my honest review。 All opinions are of my own。** 。。。more

Loved the, admittedly very cliche story, and the writing。 The very abrupt ending caught me off guard though。 Boom。 Done。

4* for Cooper and and Mac。 🌟This was more of a young adult book that featured cheating- if this is a no go for you then I suggest moving on。 Cooper is a townie, and what do townies hate more than anything? stuck up rich people。 I gotta admit I got major After vibes form this- although I preferred Elles method of writing it compared to Anna's。 Cooper loses his job sticking up for his friend who's is being harassed by a 'clone' the poor townie up against a stuck up rich prick who has never had to 4* for Cooper and and Mac。 🌟This was more of a young adult book that featured cheating- if this is a no go for you then I suggest moving on。 Cooper is a townie, and what do townies hate more than anything? stuck up rich people。 I gotta admit I got major After vibes form this- although I preferred Elles method of writing it compared to Anna's。 Cooper loses his job sticking up for his friend who's is being harassed by a 'clone' the poor townie up against a stuck up rich prick who has never had to do anything himself in his whole 22 years of existence? well we know who wins that round and news flash it isn't Cooper。 So what does any sane normal person do? move on right? Nope not coops。 He lets his friends convince him to retaliate and what better way to do that ? oh right sink your mits into his girl。。。。 the same girl who has no idea that her BF of 4 years has been going behind her back whilst he's been at college。 insert Mac。 Mac has had most of her life controlled- from what to wear, who to date and how to behave。 At 18 she started her own company that blew up- she has things going for her。 She for one isn't like the other clones。 She's refreshing, smart and entrepreneur and Cooper 100% falls for her。 Forget the dare, the dare which was to fuck the clones GF and rub it in his face- that went out the window the minute he got to know Mac-This was an easy read- I absolutely loved the cover that Elle created for it as it was different to her usual covers。 This story is a common trope but I still enjoyed it- If you're looking for a story that would get you out of a slump then I would recommend this book。I am super excited for us to sink our teeth into Evan! 。。。more

2。5 stars。 Meh。 I've really read better than this and everything felt more frustrating than enjoyable。 The female character was clueless, gullible, and truly lacked any kind of self awareness and found her backbone along the way only to lose it again, I guess。 The male character was fine but a bit lackluster and was more of a walking bad boy stereotype than actually doing something about it。 And I should know, as I'm the Bad Boy Connoisseur。 The conflict was stupid, the ending was way too rushed 2。5 stars。 Meh。 I've really read better than this and everything felt more frustrating than enjoyable。 The female character was clueless, gullible, and truly lacked any kind of self awareness and found her backbone along the way only to lose it again, I guess。 The male character was fine but a bit lackluster and was more of a walking bad boy stereotype than actually doing something about it。 And I should know, as I'm the Bad Boy Connoisseur。 The conflict was stupid, the ending was way too rushed and there's absolutely no closure。 There were bits and pieces of the book I liked but at the same time it felt far too over the top and I found it difficult to latch onto any kind of believability。 I think the big thing that bugged me was how the main plot to get Mackenzie together with Cooper was the fact that her boyfriend was constantly cheating on her because "that's the lifestyle" for rich people I guess, and Cooper wanted to make the boyfriend pay for getting him fired so he pursues Mackenzie。 That's such a tired and gross plotline and I can't believe we're still doing that shit。 However, what really bugged me was how there was guilt and shame on Mac's part for pseudo-cheating with Cooper but also her kind of justifying the cheating because her boyfriend is also。。。cheating。。。like neither of these scenarios are ok。 He cheats on her and that's bad, but she kind of cheats on him, as he cheats on her, but she shouldn't feel bad about it? See what I mean about being frustrating? Book plots that revolve around cheating make me want to burn the book entirely and this was no different。Anyways read this if you feel so inclined but it's not overly good and if it didn't have Elle Kennedy's name slapped on it, it would be a sub-par under the radar book。 There's really no depth or development anywhere to be found and the book is mostly exaggerated cliches and stereotypes masked as a story。 But "book influencers" are stupid and think any book that has smut is 5 stars。 So。 Do with that what you will。 。。。more

I enjoyed this book, the plot was fun and the characters were likeable。 There were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way but I could get passed it。 I ended up finishing it on audio and the narration was great。 The plot was predictable but overall it was still a good read。 Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a free advanced copy of this ebook and audiobook in exchange for an honest review。

Predictable。 “The thought of anyone but me putting their hands on you makes me homicidal”

This was really good! I liked the pace, the initial meeting, and how the whole relationship developed slowly。Lots of great side characters, and the narration is superb。Plus there is a puppy in the book!Much love to NetGalley & Macmillan Audio for my DRC。

e。

*review copy via NetGalleyThank you so much to the publisher to giving me the opportunity to review Elle Kennedys newest book! I loved it dearly。 I mean, it it EK and I expected nothing but a great book。 But this one surprised me nonetheless。 I thoroughly enjoyed every minute reading and I wished I'd be Mac (at least when being with Coop)。It's a typical NA setting with one main character being so rich they don't know what to do with all the money and one character barely making meets-end。 But Ma *review copy via NetGalleyThank you so much to the publisher to giving me the opportunity to review Elle Kennedys newest book! I mean, he is a brooding bad boy with loads of tattoos。 What's more to say?!I liked Macs and Coops dynamic。 I basically felt what they felt which made it hard to put this book down (I had to because responsibilities)。Something I didn't like was the revenge aspect。 I didn't like that from the beginning and I knew that that would be the conflict。 I mean, predictable but didn't disrupt my enjoyment the slightest。Is the storyline new? No。 But did I enjoy it nonetheless? Hell yes。 It was exactly what I expected from EK and I can only recommend this book if you liked her other books or are prone to NA books。 。。。more

3。5⭐️’s。 Honestly I really liked the characters in this book, and overall it was pretty good but I found myself kind of bored in the middle。 The last 20% of the book got more entertaining, but the ending felt very rushed。 I wish there was an epilogue, but I’m sure we will see Mac and Cooper in the next book。
