We read one of these books to our kids and they loved it。 So now we have to read more。This one is Valentine's Day themed。 The old lady with pica swallows items like glitter and candy hearts。 The internal logic of how the different items relate to each other is pretty flimsy。 But it keeps the kids entertained。 We read one of these books to our kids and they loved it。 So now we have to read more。This one is Valentine's Day themed。 The old lady with pica swallows items like glitter and candy hearts。 The internal logic of how the different items relate to each other is pretty flimsy。 But it keeps the kids entertained。 。。。more

They could not stop laughing as I read There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Rose! More importantly, with this book, they were able to have fun using visual clues to predict what would happen next。 Are there other books that are able to do the same thing? Of course! Yet, the book was an ideal way to have fun during a Literacy lesson right before Valentine's Day。 I think you will enjoy it as well。 。。。more

This series surprised me in a weird way。 I found it odd and quite nonsensical, a little bit funny thanks to the cute illustrations。 My nephew enjoyed it。 So I guess that’s just the mysterious difference between big people and kids。

I would recommend not reading too many of these Old Lady books on the same day。 They lose their charm, plus this one wasn't educational。 I would recommend not reading too many of these Old Lady books on the same day。 They lose their charm, plus this one wasn't educational。 。。。more

Listened to this while cleaning, it was read by Pink, for Save With Stories。 Interesting and random, but not my favorite at all。 I'm sure some kids will enjoy this retelling (Fly instead of Rose), but I wasn't that impressed。 Listened to this while cleaning, it was read by Pink, for Save With Stories。 Interesting and random, but not my favorite at all。 I'm sure some kids will enjoy this retelling (Fly instead of Rose), but I wasn't that impressed。 。。。more

The books in this series aren't my particular favorites。 They have the right rhythm to be sung to the usual "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" tune, but I always struggle with the cadence of the last line。 I keep reading them in holiday storytimes, though, because the kids listen to and seem to enjoy them so well。 The books in this series aren't my particular favorites。 They have the right rhythm to be sung to the usual "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" tune, but I always struggle with the cadence of the last line。 I keep reading them in holiday storytimes, though, because the kids listen to and seem to enjoy them so well。 。。。more

There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Rose was a very fun and interesting children’s book。 This book was a short story about an old lady who swallows a rose, some lace, some glitter, candy, a jewel, some hearts, and a card in order to blow a big kiss at the end to creat a Valentines gift。 This would be a great book to use when teaching sequence of events。 This would require students to recall the order in which she swallowed the items。 This was a great book!

This old lady can surely eat!She swallows a rose, some lace, some glitter, candy, a jewel, some hearts, and a card!Normally, these books are very enjoyable; the girls generally really like them!Lexi thought the old lady doesn't understand Valentine's Day。 She is very much into making her own Valentine cards; but not the way, the old lady made hers! And little Victoria said, she wouldn't want to get that Valentine, from the old lady!It still gets a three star rating from the girls。 But normally, This old lady can surely eat!She swallows a rose, some lace, some glitter, candy, a jewel, some hearts, and a card!Normally, these books are very enjoyable; the girls generally really like them!Lexi thought the old lady doesn't understand Valentine's Day。 She is very much into making her own Valentine cards; but not the way, the old lady made hers! I would probably only give this 3 stars, but the kids loved helping me read it so much that I bumped it up to 4。

I'm not sure what the purpose of the old lady swallowing things was, like I thought maybe it was to make something but it really didn't connect any dots at the end。 I will say the little girl I read it to enjoyed it but it really didn't make any sense to me。 I'm not sure what the purpose of the old lady swallowing things was, like I thought maybe it was to make something but it really didn't connect any dots at the end。 I will say the little girl I read it to enjoyed it but it really didn't make any sense to me。 。。。more

The Old Lady is out for love in this Valentine Day themed outing。 This is one of my personal faves from the Colandro set, as the animation and colour really pops in this story。 The items swallowed are great as a well。 This one is a real gem

This was given as a gift to the boys。 I was curious about this series and was glad we didn’t spend money on it。 It is an interesting idea, I believe, based off the Old Lady who Swallowed A Fly。 However, as someone who helped treat those with swallowing addictions, this book bothered me and I found it odd。 The ending fixed that but as a mom that is constantly worried about kids swallowing random things, it was stressful。 I realize this might be overreacting but it was just an odd book。
