In this Dr。 Seuss book, a boy goes to the pet store to bring home ONE pet his father has allowed for their home。 In this book he comes up with crazy creature ideas for their pet but none of them seem to be able to actually fit in with their small home。 By the end he gives the four choices of a pet fish, cat, and two others that he has to decide on what to come out with or he can't have a pet at all。 The last page ends with him and his sister walking out of the pet store with a basket that has tw In this Dr。 Seuss book, a boy goes to the pet store to bring home ONE pet his father has allowed for their home。 In this book he comes up with crazy creature ideas for their pet but none of them seem to be able to actually fit in with their small home。 By the end he gives the four choices of a pet fish, cat, and two others that he has to decide on what to come out with or he can't have a pet at all。 The last page ends with him and his sister walking out of the pet store with a basket that has two eyes popping out in the dark- the end of this book allows the readers and listeners brainstorm and come up with their own ending to what he picked out from the pet store。 Although the end of the book allows for the imagination of the students and could be a great ending activity to have them create the animal they think he picked or what they might pick but, as it was my first time reading this specific Dr。 Seuss book it through me off-guard when the end of the book didn't reveal the animal。 This would also be a great story to read leading up to, or during Dr。 Seuss week。 。。。more

Hahaha。I didn't know what to say at first。My mother recommended I read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish next。 So really this came out of it。 This piece of literature is about making decisions。I made the decision to play one of the instruments that cavorted in the background of the audio clip of a reader of this piece of literature since I had a slightly easier time with bassoon than with oboe, although I fought with playing both in different ways。Though, truthfully, I listened to both Wha Hahaha。I didn't know what to say at first。My mother recommended I read One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish next。 So really this came out of it。 This piece of literature is about making decisions。I made the decision to play one of the instruments that cavorted in the background of the audio clip of a reader of this piece of literature since I had a slightly easier time with bassoon than with oboe, although I fought with playing both in different ways。Though, truthfully, I listened to both What Pet I Should Get & One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, I just don't want to mess up the ISBN stuff when I say that I actually listened to the audiobook version of this。 。。。more

Not my favorite Seuss。 The pacing of the rhymes is way off。 It stay unfanciful for most of the story until suddenly we get into Seussian pets for a couple of pages。 It should have been all one or the other。

Gorgeous illustrations (as usual) but the meter was off and the plot was boring。 Not his best。

This is a fun read for little ones。 A classic Dr。Suess book that doesn't get too serious。 The siblings are trying to decide what pet they should get and have to make a quick decision。 This book would be great for younger students! This recently published Dr。Suess book takes you right down memory lane。 Before you even turn the first page you recognize that rhythm and distinct writing method。 What Pet Should I Get? Is not exception to this。 。。。more

This was a cute book showing all the variety of pets a child can get。 There is not conclusion on what pet they chose so it left the reader with their imagination as to the ending of the story。

This book by Dr。 Seuss is just like his other book。 It contains rhymes that connects the words so children can read it。 This book is about two siblings that are trying to figure out which pet should they get。 They saw a lot of pets in the store and they are having a hard time picking one。 The words that Dr。 Seuss in this book is amazing because if you are going to read it in front of your class, they can easily follow along to what you are saying because most of the word rhymes。 I am now fan of This book by Dr。 Seuss is just like his other book。 It contains rhymes that connects the words so children can read it。 This book is about two siblings that are trying to figure out which pet should they get。 They saw a lot of pets in the store and they are having a hard time picking one。 The words that Dr。 Seuss in this book is amazing because if you are going to read it in front of your class, they can easily follow along to what you are saying because most of the word rhymes。 I am now fan of Dr。 Seuss and I am going to put a lot of his book into my classroom bookshelf for my students to read because it has fun adventures and words。 。。。more

I started reading this to my son and immediately got confused。 This joyless book of stilted rhymes is by Dr。 Seuss? Has my memory of his writing been skewed by nostalgia, and it was all this bad? Fictiongrades K-2nd This Dr。 Seuss book is not one that I never read before。 But It definitely taught me about making decisions。 It can be a difficult process especially when the things that you have to decide between are really great but you have to give up one。 Wow who would have thought that a book written for children would make someone think so deeply。 That's what good books do even when they are just deciding on what pet to get。 Fictiongrades K-2nd This Dr。 Seuss book is not one that I never read before。 But It definitely taught me about making decisions。 It can be a difficult process especially when the things that you have to decide between are really great but you have to give up one。 Wow who would have thought that a book written for children would make someone think so deeply。 That's what good books do even when they are just deciding on what pet to get。 。。。more

My 4 year old really enjoys this book。 It’s not too long, so she stays focused and it’s not full of made up words and rhymes, which is nice sometimes。 This would be in my top 10 or so favorite Dr。Seuss books。

What Pet Should I Get? by Dr。 Seuss is a book about a boy and girl how go to a pet store to adopt a pet。 They must only choose ONE pet, however there are so many choices! They both find pets that they want, then find more that they want even more。 They weigh their options and think of the pros and cons of each pet。 However, their parents expect them to come home at a specific time。 So at the end, they decide on the pet they should get, however we do not know what it is。This is a fun book to read What Pet Should I Get? by Dr。 Seuss is a book about a boy and girl how go to a pet store to adopt a pet。 They must only choose ONE pet, however there are so many choices! Considering Seuss’ usual obsession with weird and wonderful fantasy creatures, I fully expected this book to be filled with his strangest pet options, but instead he grounds us solidly in reality with only a small group of fantastic creatures featured。 We follow a pair of anonymous children to a pet store, where they have been tasked with choosing one (and one only) family pet to bring home。 But in typical Seuss fashion they children can’t pick just one, as they are drawn to all the available an Considering Seuss’ usual obsession with weird and wonderful fantasy creatures, I fully expected this book to be filled with his strangest pet options, but instead he grounds us solidly in reality with only a small group of fantastic creatures featured。 We follow a pair of anonymous children to a pet store, where they have been tasked with choosing one (and one only) family pet to bring home。 But in typical Seuss fashion they children can’t pick just one, as they are drawn to all the available animals from dogs to reptiles - even being tempted by a myriad of Seussical creatures that they quickly decide will not be approved of by their father。 Even though we don’t get the expected fantasy become reality in this story, I think that it’s still a very engaging story that will make children think about what kind of pet they want rather than just choosing based on cuteness or being the first animal they see。 Having a pet as a child is a great experience, so I’m really glad that Seuss chose to tackle this subject with his trademark humour and wisdom。 。。。more

Maybe the rating is influenced by my devotion for "adopt, don't shop" messages。 I think this had so much potential to be a great, educational book for children, where they face through rhymes the responsibility to choose a pet and how important this decision is。 I am sorry it was wasted with lame rhymes and a pet shop, something I do not fully support。 Maybe the rating is influenced by my devotion for "adopt, don't shop" messages。 I think this had so much potential to be a great, educational book for children, where they face through rhymes the responsibility to choose a pet and how important this decision is。 I am sorry it was wasted with lame rhymes and a pet shop, something I do not fully support。 。。。more
