I have been a fan of Lisa’s work for years now although much to my shame, I haven’t read her last three releases。 When I was invited to take part in the blog tour for ‘One Step Too Far’, I thought that it would be the ideal opportunity to read her latest release and to reacquaint myself with her work。 I read the synopsis for ‘One Step Too Far’ and it certainly sounded intriguing。 I couldn’t wait to start reading so without further ado I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my copy of the book and settl I have been a fan of Lisa’s work for years now although much to my shame, I haven’t read her last three releases。 When I was invited to take part in the blog tour for ‘One Step Too Far’, I thought that it would be the ideal opportunity to read her latest release and to reacquaint myself with her work。 I read the synopsis for ‘One Step Too Far’ and it certainly sounded intriguing。 I couldn’t wait to start reading so without further ado I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my copy of the book and settled down for what I hoped would be an interesting afternoon of reading。 I wasn’t to be disappointed either as I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘One Step Too Far’ but more about that in a bit。‘One Step Too Far’ is the second book in the series featuring Frankie Elkin。 Frankie is a lady who deals with tracking down missing people。 She doesn’t do it for the money but she wants to help reunite families with their missing loved ones。 She has been very successful although not all the reunions have been happy ones as most of the people she tracks haven’t been found alive。 I liked Frankie。 She is a plucky young woman, who doesn’t scare easily and she is certainly determined to do everything within her power to achieve her aim of reuniting families。 I liked Frankie and I began to think of her as being a friend。I have to be honest and say that it took me a little while to get into ‘One Step Too Far’ as I got a bit lost with who was who。 However the story soon settled down and I began to feel that I had got to know the characters a bit better。 Once I got into the story then that was it and I was away。 I was intrigued by the disappearance of the man, who was due to get married。 I also found those who made up the search party to be rather interesting and I felt as though they weren’t all being honest。 I had my own suspicions as to what was going to happen so I had to keep reading to see if I had stumbled anywhere near the truth or if I had waddled off in the opposite direction entirely。 I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book。 I found ‘One Step Too Far’ to be a gripping, tense and dramatic story which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat throughout。‘One Step Too Far’ is superbly written。 Lisa has one of those writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with。 Lisa certainly knows how to draw the reader into what proves to be a compelling read and then take them on one hell of a journey。 For me the story hit the ground running and maintained a fairly fast pace throughout。 Reading ‘One Step Too Far’ felt like being on one hell of a scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way。 I love the way in which Lisa makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action。 Through Lisa’s very vivid and realistic descriptions, I felt as though I was right there in the middle of the woods with the search party and I kept jumping every time I heard a noise。In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘One Step Too Far’ and I would recommend it to other readers。 I will certainly be reading more of Lisa’s work in the future。 The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*。 。。。more

Magnificent read! Frankie, a recovering alcoholic, is a drifter specializing in finding lost people。 In this novel she sets out to find Tim, a lost hiker。 Little does she know what she is in for。 Action packed, sympathetic characters。

3。5/5 Suspense was on point, with most of the story taking place in the wilderness; I wasn’t as impressed with the mystery…。 It’s not a huge secret that Hillary Huber is my least favorite narrator so that also factors into my enjoyment。 I still plan to continue on with the series, I do really like Frankie ♥️

Frankie is amazing。 Alcoholic。 Troubled (understatement) finder of the missing。 We are out in the woods this time。 Lisa G keeps the story moving as the backstory for all of the other characters emerges。 Started this book last night。 Finished in 24 hours。 Pretty much the definition of a page turner。

I love Frankie so much。 She’s real and raw and damaged, and yet she’s also so strong。 These books read so differently than her other detective novels…I get a big Jodi Picoult vibe from the Frankie stories。 I definitely recommend the audible version - the narrator gives Frankie the perfect voice!!!

Too good to stop reading! This is one of those books you just can't put down。 Frankie has a free spirit and a purpose that life chose for her。 Struggles, hardships, outside of her comfort zone。 She persevere s and struggles, she keeps on going when she should give in。 Well written with great characters, surprise at almost every page turn。 I was sad when I finished and simply cannot wait to read the next book in this series。 Too good to stop reading! This is one of those books you just can't put down。 Frankie has a free spirit and a purpose that life chose for her。 Struggles, hardships, outside of her comfort zone。 She persevere s and struggles, she keeps on going when she should give in。 Well written with great characters, surprise at almost every page turn。 I was sad when I finished and simply cannot wait to read the next book in this series。 。。。more

I have mixed feelings about this book。 The main character, Frankie, is definitely believable and well rounded and I really feel like I know her。 The story has a good plot, and it’s all explained in the end。 There just seemed to be an awful lot of back story and information that didn’t really move the story along。 Overall I did enjoy it and it was well written, I just found myself struggling a bit to get through it。 Thank you #netgalley

Another fantastic read from Lisa Gardner。 I love that she returns to her characters and I have read most of her series。 Again, everyone in the story is well developed。 There's enough suspense, intrigue and drama。 There was a major twist at the end of this one that I didn't see coming at all。 I also like when I learn something new (in this case a bit about SAR dogs)。 I look forward to the next Frankie Elkin installment! This story starts out as you'd expect。 Frankie joins the search for a man who'd gone missing in the wilderness 5 years ago。 The group set off and camp miles from civilisation。 Then things go wrong and it's now a matter of their survival。I found this book to be claustrophobic even though it's set in the wild outdoors。 Nowhere seemed safe and the tension ramped up and up。 I was quite gripped and thoroughly enjoyed this story。 This story starts out as you'd expect。 Frankie joins the search for a man who'd gone missing in the wilderness 5 years ago。 The group set off and camp miles from civilisation。 Then things go wrong and it's now a matter of their survival。I found this book to be claustrophobic even though it's set in the wild outdoors。 Nowhere seemed safe and the tension ramped up and up。 I was quite gripped and thoroughly enjoyed this story。 。。。more

What started out as normal, a long shot trying to find a guy that was lost 5 years ago, turned crazy quickly! It seemed like the search party was doomed from the start and it's only when you get to the end that you realize how true that is。 In the meantime the whole crew ends up by themselves, terrorized and literally running for their lives at times。 Through this, Frankie, the outsider, has some interesting thoughts。 At times those help the group out, at times, she's viewed as the weak link。 In What started out as normal, a long shot trying to find a guy that was lost 5 years ago, turned crazy quickly! I liked it one star better than I did the debut book in the series。 I found all of it to be just a step too far believability。 I don't think I'll bother with the next one in this series。 I liked it one star better than I did the debut book in the series。 I found all of it to be just a step too far believability。 I don't think I'll bother with the next one in this series。 。。。more

Not exactly sure why I liked this book so much, but I devoured it。 Admittedly, I usually like Gardner's books, but this one just swept me up。 It was the wilderness, the hike, the unknown elements, the personalities。, the uncertainty, the fear。。。it just had me。 The ending wasn't totally satisfying but still strong and spoiler。。 the dog didn't die。 Not exactly sure why I liked this book so much, but I devoured it。 Admittedly, I usually like Gardner's books, but this one just swept me up。 It was the wilderness, the hike, the unknown elements, the personalities。, the uncertainty, the fear。。。it just had me。 The ending wasn't totally satisfying but still strong and spoiler。。 the dog didn't die。 。。。more

Lisa Gardner writes great thrillers and this one, set in the Wyoming wilderness with a killer on the hunt, is maybe my favorite one yet。

One Step Too Far is the second book in Lisa Gardner’s Frankie Elkin series。 You don’t have to read the first novel (Before She Disappeared) to follow this one, but it does contain spoilers for the previous book。As wild bachelor parties go, it wasn’t much of one。 Just some guys, some brews, some tents and a whole lot of the Wyoming wilderness。 But sometime in the night, one of the groomsmen wanders off and groom-to-be Tim O’Day, the only experienced woodsman in the group, sets off to find him – a One Step Too Far is the second book in Lisa Gardner’s Frankie Elkin series。 You don’t have to read the first novel (Before She Disappeared) to follow this one, but it does contain spoilers for the previous book。As wild bachelor parties go, it wasn’t much of one。 Just some guys, some brews, some tents and a whole lot of the Wyoming wilderness。 But sometime in the night, one of the groomsmen wanders off and groom-to-be Tim O’Day, the only experienced woodsman in the group, sets off to find him – and disappears himself。 Search parties go out, the original missing man is found – but five years later Tim is still missing without a trace。Frankie Elkin looks for missing people。 When the search parties have stopped, when the police budget doesn’t allow for more man hours – that’s when Frankie steps in。 She reads in the paper that Tim’s mother is dying, that her only wish is to be buried near her son, that his father Martin is launching one final search to bring his boy back, and Frankie makes a snap decision to join the recovery party to find Tim’s remains。 She jumps on the next bus headed toward Ramsey, Wyoming。 She doesn’t have much wilderness experience but she’s darn good at locating misplaced humans。Frankie’s journey begins on an ominous note。 Hitching a ride from the bus station to the diner where the search is being launched, she learns from the local giving her a lift that a lot of people go missing in those particular woods。 Be careful, she is advised。 Be wary。 There is an unnamed danger stalking the area。It isn’t long before Frankie can give first hand testimony to that fact。 Once they head out, their party faces obstacle after obstacle until it is all too clear that theirs is an ill fated expedition。 The question now isn’t whether or not they will find Tim’s remains。 It is whether or not they themselves will become the subjects of a missing person search – and if so, will it be down to bad luck or is someone deliberately sabotaging the team? What Did I Miss!!??? What did I miss? This was a never ending book! The exhausting amount of useless information and details made it nearly impossible to get through。 The book would never end! Actually, it never began!! It had such a wonderful premise, five friends in the woods, one goes missing, secrets are unveiled! But it fell so short。 What a let down and waste of time。

I know I'm in a minority but I wasn't a big fan of this book: it's well written and the descriptions of the setting are great。 Unfortunately I didn't care about the characters and the story fell flat。Not my cup of tea。Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine I know I'm in a minority but I wasn't a big fan of this book: it's well written and the descriptions of the setting are great。 Unfortunately I didn't care about the characters and the story fell flat。Not my cup of tea。Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine 。。。more

One Step Too Far is the new thriller from Lisa Gardner, the bestselling writer of many suspense novels。 5 years ago Timothy went in the wilderness with his 4 best friends to celebrate his upcoming marriage, he is never seen again。 Every year his father and friends hike out to try and find his remains, this year they are accompanied by Frankie Elkin, who specialises in finding missing people。 This is an highly accomplished thriller。 The character of Frankie, who has featured in a previous novel, One Step Too Far is the new thriller from Lisa Gardner, the bestselling writer of many suspense novels。 5 years ago Timothy went in the wilderness with his 4 best friends to celebrate his upcoming marriage, he is never seen again。 Every year his father and friends hike out to try and find his remains, this year they are accompanied by Frankie Elkin, who specialises in finding missing people。 This is an highly accomplished thriller。 The character of Frankie, who has featured in a previous novel, is a really interesting creation with a fascinating back story。 The tension ratchets up over the novel until it is almost unbearable and the final twist is really clever。 It’s a joy to be in the hands of such an experienced storyteller。 I’ve never read anything by amLisa Gardner before but I will certainly seek out her novels again。 Thank you to #netgalley and #randomhouse for allowing me to review this ARC 。。。more
