Summary

The magical world teeters on the brink of collapse。 The Dragon King, Celebrant, has united the dragons into a vengeful army, and only a final artifact stands in the way of them unleashing their fury against humankind。 With established allegiances shifting under the strain, Seth and Kendra find themselves in desperate need of new allies。

Seth must face his most dangerous quest—the fulfillment of his pledge to the Singing Sisters。 With only Calvin the Tiny Hero at his side, Seth needs to collect the pieces of the Ethergem, including the stones from the crowns of the Dragon King, the Giant Queen, and the Demon King。

Halfway across the world, Kendra finds herself torn between her duty to Dragonwatch and her desire to rescue Bracken。 Can she challenge Ronodin’s control of the fairy realm without leaving the five legendary dragon slayers to be hunted by Celebrant and his sons?

Left behind at Titan Valley, Knox and Tess must survive the aftermath of the Giant Queen’s fall。 Will the secret crown in Knox’s possession prove too much for him to handle?

In this fifth and final volume of Dragonwatch, our heroes make their last stand at the hidden Kingdom of Selona。 For the defenders of light to stand a chance, the legendary dragon slayers must arise, lost secrets must be uncovered, and ancient powers must awaken。 Get ready for the gripping, revelatory, and unforeseen conclusion to the epic ten-volume New York Times best-selling Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series。

There’s hardly words for how much I loved the Dragonwatch series! Having grown up with Fablehaven it has been an utter joy to revisit this world with Kendra and Seth。 It has felt like coming home and seeing my old friends finish the journey we started together。 Also I can safely say that the Dragonwatch series really did add so many layered elements and plots and not in an overly-complicating way, but just if you’re an adult and hesitant about being entertained by kids fantasy and world building There’s hardly words for how much I loved the Dragonwatch series! This is classic action and adventure and heroes journeys abound。 Get your kids Fablehaven and then read through to the end of Dragonwatch! You will love this world and these characters and I for one know I’ll be re-reading them all again! ❤️🐉 。。。more

I really enjoyed this book。 A wonderful end to the series, and I loved reading it。 (My only wish is for the story to be continued in another series。)

I am really going to miss Kendra and Seth。 And don't even get me started on the ending。 It was just。。。superb and even that falls short。 There is no, absolutely no way, to describe in words just how wonderful this book was。 Watching both Kendra and Seth grow and change and learn to deal with their past。 The Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series was wonderful a wonderful book that I will never forget。 Plot: Seth has just regained his memories and the Singing Sisters just called in their favor: Collect I am really going to miss Kendra and Seth。 And don't even get me started on the ending。 It was just。。。superb and even that falls short。 There is no, absolutely no way, to describe in words just how wonderful this book was。 Watching both Kendra and Seth grow and change and learn to deal with their past。 The Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series was wonderful a wonderful book that I will never forget。 Plot: Seth has just regained his memories and the Singing Sisters just called in their favor: Collect all the pieces of the Ethergem and bring it to the Sisters。 On the other hand, Kendra is still looking for a way to end the Dragon War and it seems that to do this she has to call in some favors from the demons。 But when she approaches them, she finds that they not only expect her to stop the war, they expect her to kill Celebrant, the Dragon King。 Since she slayed the previous Demon King, its only logical for her the kill Celebrant too, is it not? Well, Kendra is doubtful, though she does get some important information: Find the Dragon Slayers。 Now, while Kendra is tracking down the Dragon Slayers and Seth is finding the pieces of the Ethergem, across the world Ronodin is watching the Dragon War play out。。。a war that HE caused!Well, that's all I have for the plot。 I tried to reveal some things without spoiling the book but I have no idea if I did a good job of that。。。its hard to stop after you have already started。PS: If Brandon Mull is reading this, (I doubt that he is, he is probably has better things to do that read people's reviews on his books。。。) than I want to point out that you said, "Will a write more books in this story world? Anything is possible。" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make good on that。 I don't want to say bye to Kendra and Seth but sadly if this book series ends。。。I have no idea what I will do。。。And sadly, I now have to say goodbye to you guys too。 So,Goodbye。。。for now,Sara 。。。more

Things are not going well in the magical world。 All of the seven Dragon Sanctuaries have fallen, and Celebrant has gathered a massive army of dragons for the sole purpose of bringing back the Age of Dragons。 Separated across the globe, Kendra and Seth go on two different quests in an effort to stop the evil Dragon King。 Tasked by the Singing Sisters to gather all the pieces of the Ethergem, Seth's journey will take him to face some of the most powerful and dangerous beings on the planet, but he Things are not going well in the magical world。 All of the seven Dragon Sanctuaries have fallen, and Celebrant has gathered a massive army of dragons for the sole purpose of bringing back the Age of Dragons。 Separated across the globe, Kendra and Seth go on two different quests in an effort to stop the evil Dragon King。 Tasked by the Singing Sisters to gather all the pieces of the Ethergem, Seth's journey will take him to face some of the most powerful and dangerous beings on the planet, but he is burdened by the burden of his recovered memories and the knowledge of what his choices have wrought。 Meanwhile, Kendra reluctantly seeks the help of the three demons she was told to seek out as she searches for the legendary Dragon Slayers, but no one has seen them for ages。 The family will be tested like never before, and even as the two learn more about what it means to be light and dark neither of them will be the same as before。 Will they succeed in their missions, or is the world doomed to fall to the dragons? This book was amazing。 Brandon Mull has once again proven himself a master of the fantasy genre, and it shows with the evolution of his characters。 Both make poor choices, and both have high and low points。 One of my favorite things about this book is we get to see a delve into more of the abilities and powers of being fairykind, and why it's a game changer。 I noticed Seth's journey seems to revolve around forgiveness as we read that he's beating himself up for his choices, and I found myself wanting someone to cheer him up。 While we don't see a lot of new magical creatures, I say that's a good thing。 Instead, some of the old ones we saw return in this book got a little more development as to how they influenced the world。 There were plenty of shocks, and people I wanted to live ended up dying simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time。 Mull also delves more into magic itself for his world, and how past events have influenced events that have played out through both the original and this series as a whole。 Mull also managed to successfully and effectively tie up all the loose ends that were opened up throughout the series and gave us a fantastic ending to this series。 I cannot wait to see what else he has to offer with his future writings。 Even if we never see the characters or locations of Fablehaven or Dragonwatch, I can move on knowing that I can always return to the books and reread them。 I would definitely recommend this series, saying it's a must-have for fans of fantasy。 There is a word of caution。 As this is essentially a war against dragons there is plenty of death on both sides, and it can get a little graphic including mutilation。 The battle scenes are intense, and add to the sense of drama。 Some characters are stabbed and desire death as a result。 Thankfully, like his other books, the author included a list of discussion questions at the back of the story that parents and teachers can use to start a conversation about this book。 I would also add this book can be used to help drive home the point that often the person we need to forgive the most is ourselves。 All of us are worthy of second chances, and being forgiven can be a wonderful experience。 。。。more

Right so as a general disclaimer, I should mention that I am not part of this book's target demographic, having read (and loved) the original Fablehaven series back when I was 11 but having perhaps 'aged out' of middle grade fantasy since then。 So, when I say that I thought Dragonwatch started out quite good but went downhill after about book 2, perhaps it is my own personal preferences that have changed, not the quality of the series (indeed, I say similar things about other middle grade series Right so as a general disclaimer, I should mention that I am not part of this book's target demographic, having read (and loved) the original Fablehaven series back when I was 11 but having perhaps 'aged out' of middle grade fantasy since then。 So, when I say that I thought Dragonwatch started out quite good but went downhill after about book 2, perhaps it is my own personal preferences that have changed, not the quality of the series (indeed, I say similar things about other middle grade series such as Wings of Fire and the Blackthorn Key, which I started at a young age and continued to keep up with)。 On the other hand, when I look back at, or even reread the Fablehaven series, it still seems to me a much more compelling and well-crafted story than Dragonwatch。As aforementioned, I thought that the first book of Dragonwatch was quite good。 Mull has endless creativity in constructing interesting obstacles and environments for his characters to interact with, and Wyrmroost was fun to (re)explore。 Perhaps what made the first book so good is that the objective of the book was nice and simple: there is something wrong with the defences keeping the Dragons in the preserve, and our heroes need to find out how to prevent the Wyrmroost from falling。 Book 2 was also generally entertaining, with a particularly great ending。 However, as the series progressed a few problems began to arise。 One is the dragons themselves。 In this last book, they are just not very threatening。 The sword, Vasilis, is simply too overpowered and renders the (view spoiler)["big final battle" with Celebrant (hide spoiler)] a bit of a joke。 To be fair, you could level a similar criticism against the last book in the first series, but in that last book one of the characters has to achieve several major miracles in order to get their hands on that sword -- it just didn't feel as earned here。 Another big problem is Ronodin。 He was built up as this malevolent trickster with a "big evil plan", but ended up as a bland, annoying, and extremely underwhelming secondary villain with a lacklustre conclusion。 A third problem is that the characters that we see from previous books seem to have lost their charm here -- I don't know why, but previous favourites like Vanessa, Tanu, and Warren were surprisingly bland in this series。 Perhaps this is because the cast of this second series is just so overcrowded, as Mull was plainly trying to satiate fans' desire to see their favourite characters again, while at the same time introducing a hundred new ones。 But the old hands just don't play off each other the same way they used to, and the new blood is generally ill-equipped to take their place。 Remember Thronis? The big threatening giant from Fablehaven book 4 with whom Seth had to bargain for his and his companions' lives? He's in this。。。 I don't think he and Seth ever even speak in this series (if they did, it was brief and forgettable), and without that, what really is the point of his character? Finally, there were elements of character arcs that felt unresolved by the end of this series。 For instance, ever since Fablehaven's ending there has been talk of (view spoiler)[Kendra becoming an Eternal, but unless I missed something this is never addressed in this last book (Indeed, it could be argued that Kendra really doesn't do very much in general in this last book, as both major villains are taken down ultimately by Seth)。 There is also the matter of the vow Kendra and Seth made to Dromadus, which is (again, unless I missed something) never fulfilled (hide spoiler)]。Overall, though not perfect, this series, and even this finale, are still good books。 The entirety of Dragonwatch is endlessly creative and still quite fun, if a little flat。 I would be interested to know how the 9-12 demographic received this series -- I expect that those who read it would enjoy it, but I wonder if Fablehaven has maintained enough popularity among that demographic for this series to be successful。 It is with this last read that I say farewell to Brandon Mull's books。 I've spent many happy hours reading Fablehaven and Five Kingdoms, and while I might return to those classics someday, whatever he writes next will be for other readers to enjoy。 I hope they find his work as imaginative and memorable as I did。 。。。more

I really did enjoy the way he ended this。 I cannot describe what both the Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series have meant to me。 There is some beautiful truths embedded in these books if you look for them。 I have grown to love so many characters, but ultimately my heart has opened to love Seth and Kendra as though they were real young people in my life, a niece and nephew or a student。 The journeys tthey have been on have ultimately reminded me of the journey we are all on。

I was genuinely dreading this book coming to a close。 The Fablehaven and Dragonwatch series have both been car audios for the kids。 We listen to them right when they are released。 But, this one I postponed, knowing it was finally the end。 It will be fun to revisit in a few years with my younger kids。 There are such wonderful themes about good, evil, and redemption。

This book was the thrilling conclusion to not only the Dragonwatch series but the adventures of Kendra and Seth。 Return of the Dragon Slayers was action packed and I could not put it down, each chapter ending on something even more momentous than the last。 Dragonwatch is a five book series (this being the last book), however, the story really started with Fablehaven (another 5 book series)。 It has been so much fun going on this ten book reading journey and though it may seem like a lot it is mos This book was the thrilling conclusion to not only the Dragonwatch series but the adventures of Kendra and Seth。 Return of the Dragon Slayers was action packed and I could not put it down, each chapter ending on something even more momentous than the last。 Dragonwatch is a five book series (this being the last book), however, the story really started with Fablehaven (another 5 book series)。 It has been so much fun going on this ten book reading journey and though it may seem like a lot it is most definitely worth it to see how not only the characters, but Brandon Mull's writing style evolves with each new tail。 。。。more

This was my favorite of the Dragonwatch series and a satisfying way to end the series (although the very last page felt an abrupt and I did not like)。 Sometimes with this series I would lose my patience a little with how the story u folded and I preferred listening over reading, but that was not the case with this book。

An epic conclusion to one of the best middle grade series I have ever read。 I found Seth's character arc to be especially impressive, with him maturing with every trial he overcame。 Without spoiling anything, let me just say that everything I wanted to happen happened, and every loose end was tied。 I will definitely keep my eyes open in case Brandon Mull decides to reopen this world! I couldn't ask for a better finish to this wonderful series。 Brandon Mull has become my favorite author over the course of the last few years。 If you haven't read any of his books, I would recommend them to anyone of any age。 I also appreciate the depth of this book。 Though it is written for kids, there were many parts that profoundly impacted me in a way that very few books manage。Thanks for the wonderful ride。 I couldn't ask for a better finish to this wonderful series。 Brandon Mull has become my favorite author over the course of the last few years。 If you haven't read any of his books, I would recommend them to anyone of any age。 I also appreciate the depth of this book。 Though it is written for kids, there were many parts that profoundly impacted me in a way that very few books manage。Thanks for the wonderful ride。 。。。more

AAAAAAAAA I’m so SAD。 I’ve been reading this saga since 2016 and I’ve patiently waited each year for the next book to be published, and it is now the end。 A part of me is with these books and when I turned the last page, I felt empty。 I wanted to throw the book across my room, but I didn’t because it was 1AM and I didn’t want to wake my parents。 Although I definitely would have thrown the book if it were during the day。This saga is my favorite ever。 This is what I mean when I say I like fantasy。 AAAAAAAAA I’m so SAD。 I’ve been reading this saga since 2016 and I’ve patiently waited each year for the next book to be published, and it is now the end。 A part of me is with these books and when I turned the last page, I felt empty。 I wanted to throw the book across my room, but I didn’t because it was 1AM and I didn’t want to wake my parents。 Although I definitely would have thrown the book if it were during the day。This saga is my favorite ever。 This is what I mean when I say I like fantasy。 Literally every page is interesting。 There are no "off" moments。 The action is found throughout the book。 Magic evolves in a logical way。 I love it。 I loooooooooove it。 This book made me feel emotions like I’ve never felt before while reading so now I’m really sad that this is the end of Kendra and Seth。 I would have gladly taken a sixth book。 。。。more

The alder fairy gave up the title to a very capable person。 Further more, as fairy kind, Kendra’s life should have been extended as she is tied to the fairy world now, she is already in every way brackens equal。 To heck with bracken being tainted by the human world。 What bunk。 Also… what’s up with the unlegendary dragon slayers… Kendra’s quest should never have happened。 Seth should have joined up with her… and together they shouldHave worked to restore the stone… and then used it to call forth the dragon slayers who would then subdue the dragons making them the legendary slayers they were supposed to be!!! Instead they were weak and gone in 3 min。 The book has the wrong title。 Then they should have returned the stone to the giants breaking the nipsie curse。 So many characters acting out of character。 Kendra and Seth can’t return to a normal life。 They have been changed and are now a part of the magical world。 They should be protectors of it forever more。 You can’t go through the things they did and not be changed! Although I was surprised (and eventually delighted) at how Seth-centric the finale was, Mull has completed the ten-book run of Fablehaven/Dragonwatch in a way that recalls many of the extraordinary features that forced me to fall in love with the first Fablehaven book in 2010, back when I was just a fantasy loving sixth-grader。 Twelve years later, I am stunned by the scope of this final installment and how bittersweet it makes the goodbye。

I read this as an E-Book。 The final conclusion of the Dragonwatch series。 I found this book better than the 3rd or 2nd books。 The plot did seem rushed in places and abrupt。 Like it was almost too easy for Kendra and Seth to complete their quests。
