Summary

He was the most beautiful man alive。
And if I wasn't careful, he was going to be my death。

*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Psyche and Eros that's as sinful as it is sweet。*

In the ultra-modern city of Olympus, there's always a price to pay。 Psyche knew she'd have to face Aphrodite's ire eventually, but she never expected her literal heart to be at stake。。。or for Aphrodite's gorgeous son to be the one ordered to strike the killing blow。

Eros has no problem shedding blood。 But when it comes time to take out his latest target, he can't do it。 Confused by his reaction to Psyche, he does the only thing he can think of to keep her safe: he marries her。 Psyche vows to make Eros's life a living hell until they find a way out of this mess。 But as lines blur and loyalties shift, she realizes he might take her heart after all。。。and she's not sure she can survive the loss。

Honestly this only the second book I've read by Kate Robert but it makes me want to go back and read her whole back catalog which would be a lot of books that I'm sure I'd love。 I'm really enjoying the Dark Olympus series and to get Eors and Psyche was so fun-also plus-size Pysche so cool?! Love me a good fake dating to trope and add in the high stakes and this made for a fantastic story。 Can't wait to read the next one!Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for a Honestly this only the second book I've read by Kate Robert but it makes me want to go back and read her whole back catalog which would be a lot of books that I'm sure I'd love。 I'm really enjoying the Dark Olympus series and to get Eors and Psyche was so fun-also plus-size Pysche so cool?! Another fantastically steamy myth retelling from Katee Robert's。 This time it was the story of Eros (aka Cupid) and Psyche。 I have to say I enjoyed the storyline of Neon Gods more as well as felt more invested in the characters。 But this was still highly entertaining。 I especially loved the conversations regarding Psyches body positivity and non-tradional beauty standards without the focus being all about that or making that her dominant personality trait。 Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape M Another fantastically steamy myth retelling from Katee Robert's。 This time it was the story of Eros (aka Cupid) and Psyche。 I have to say I enjoyed the storyline of Neon Gods more as well as felt more invested in the characters。 But this was still highly entertaining。 I especially loved the conversations regarding Psyches body positivity and non-tradional beauty standards without the focus being all about that or making that her dominant personality trait。 Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audiobook for review。 。。。more

Quite a light, fun retelling of the Eros and Psyche Greek legend set in modern times。

4。5 stars!! Neon Gods is still my favorite (because Hades is such a cinnamon roll and I love him), but this was a great second book in the series! I listened to this audiobook and I don’t know what I pictured the narrators would sound like but it was not British。 It took me a couple chapters to get used to it。 That said this was a friends to lovers story with excellent plus size representation。 I loved that Psyche owned her looks and had a healthy amount of self esteem。 Her size was part of the story, but it didn’t define her character。 The steam takes a while to kick in especially for a Katee Robert book, but it was perfectly paced。 I lov I listened to this audiobook and I don’t know what I pictured the narrators would sound like but it was not British。 It took me a couple chapters to get used to it。 That said this was a friends to lovers story with excellent plus size representation。 I loved that Psyche owned her looks and had a healthy amount of self esteem。 Her size was part of the story, but it didn’t define her character。 The steam takes a while to kick in especially for a Katee Robert book, but it was perfectly paced。 I loved the political maneuvering in this book。 Both psyche and Eros know how to play the game in their own right and when they come together they are a force。 Psyche and Eros’s relationship is incredibly sweet。 When they start their marriage of convenience they both have their guards up, but it doesn’t take long before they start to open up to each other。 The only complaint I have about this book is that it felt like the first 80% of the book was set up and justifying why they needed this marriage for Psyche’s protection and the last 20% was the action that Pysche needed protection against。 I could have used a little more。 Overall this was a solid follow up to Neon Gods and I enjoyed it so much! 。。。more

Counted the days for the release of that one (talking about the book not my orgasms) 😂I read it in a day, the plot is so good and the characters are hummmIt's at first an enemies to lover plot, but not for long once that the characters get vulnerable with each other。The best part of the book is it shows the fear of trusting and intimacy, in a society so close to ours that some could feel it's close from home (I did)Worth every penny! I have a lot of mixed thoughts。 There was little to no plot in this story, and while sometimes that’s fine because it makes space for a deeper character-driven story this also didn’t have that either。 It was insta-love with no push and pull that didn’t last longer than a couple of sentences。 Also, Netgalley audiobooks are horrible quality on their app and it does ruin the experience。 This book was a chore to finish and I'm saddened that it was。 I have a lot of mixed thoughts。 There was little to no plot in this story, and while sometimes that’s fine because it makes space for a deeper character-driven story this also didn’t have that either。 It was insta-love with no push and pull that didn’t last longer than a couple of sentences。 Also, Netgalley audiobooks are horrible quality on their app and it does ruin the experience。 This book was a chore to finish and I'm saddened that it was。 。。。more

Fist off both narrators where a great match to their characters。 I really enjoyed listening to this book because they were able to bring the characters to life for me。The write was great fast paced and fun。 I enjoyed the forced marriage trope。 The thirsty scene where not as intense as the first novel nor did there seem to be as many。 This had more plot in my opinion。 Which I liked but I know some want it the other way around。

Electric Idol is the second novel in the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert and it doesn’t disappoint! absolutely brilliant SUCH。 A。 GOOD。 SERIES。 I honestly can’t praise this series high enough, I’m a massive Greek mythology fan and this series makes my childhood love of Percy Jackson look weak! Eros is a dream and Psyche is an actual goddess! The “we have to marry so you’re safe” mixed with the “how could you ever love me” just hits right in the heart!!

It was okay, it didn’t blow me away, but an entertaining read nonetheless。I wasn’t familiar with Eros or Psyche prior to reading this book but I did like the characters Katee created and it’s made me want to look more in to their story。 It’s a shame we didn’t see Hermes more though, I really liked her in the first book。 I will continue with the series, I’m hoping the next one is about Callisto, I’d definitely like to see more from her, she would be an interesting main character。I do have a coupl It was okay, it didn’t blow me away, but an entertaining read nonetheless。I wasn’t familiar with Eros or Psyche prior to reading this book but I did like the characters Katee created and it’s made me want to look more in to their story。 It’s a shame we didn’t see Hermes more though, I really liked her in the first book。 I will continue with the series, I’m hoping the next one is about Callisto, I’d definitely like to see more from her, she would be an interesting main character。I do have a couple of issues with the writing in Electric Idols:-The pacing was a bit off, the first 50% was quite slow paced (predominately set over a 24hr time period) but everything seemed a bit rushed in the second half, the ending especially。 -Race。 I know there is a big focus right now on more diversity and representation in books (as there should be) but this almost felt like boxes being ticked。 I know there were 4 black women in the book because Katee Robert told me there were 4 black women in the book but that’s where it ends。 Is including diversity in book’s simply naming the characters race and that’s it? I’m definitely not articulating it very well but as I said it felt more like box ticking。 Hermes featured quite heavily in Neon Gods and I could be wrong (someone please correct me if I am) but I don’t recall her race being mentioned at all, however in this book she was referred to once as “a black woman with natural hair”。 Although I should mention It wasn’t just the race of black characters mentioned, some white characters were also introduced as a white man or woman。Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

After I read and loved NEON GODS last year, the sequel ELECTRIC IDOL immediately shot to the top of my tbr。 Admittedly, my hopes for this book were unreasonably high because 1) Neon Gods was phenomenal, and 2) that little glimpse we got of both Psyche and Eros in book 1 promised that both characters would be a lovely cross between delightful and a handful, which they both turned out to be。 I’m happy to say that this book lived up to my ridiculous expectations, but now the bar is set even higher After I read and loved NEON GODS last year, the sequel ELECTRIC IDOL immediately shot to the top of my tbr。 Admittedly, my hopes for this book were unreasonably high because 1) Neon Gods was phenomenal, and 2) that little glimpse we got of both Psyche and Eros in book 1 promised that both characters would be a lovely cross between delightful and a handful, which they both turned out to be。 I’m happy to say that this book lived up to my ridiculous expectations, but now the bar is set even higher for the next book in the series。 ⁣⁣I adored Psyche’s and Eros’ relationship for the minute they spent time together, even though the circumstances were anything but romantic。 Their chance meeting and their subsequent marriage of convenience made for such a fun story, and I absolutely loved how each one had their reservations about entering in to such an odd contract。 But, as most fake dating and fake marriage tropes are wont to do, they eventually have their aha! moment and realize that they’re truly, madly, deeply in love。 These two were just so swoony and cute, and this is just a book that made me smile。 ⁣⁣But it’s not all rainbows and sunshine。 There’s plenty of danger involved, thanks to the backstabbing Thirteen and Eros’ vindictive mother, and the politics and the never-ending threat of violence and upheaval really adds the perfect amount of intrigue and tension to this series。 ⁣⁣Bottom line — a fantastic second installment in this mythological retelling series。 5 swoony stars。 Many thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the digital arc。 。。。more

I love this book! What a great sequel to Neon Gods。 I am very excited for the series to continue! Eros, Aphrodite's "fixer" has been tasked with killing Psyche, daughter of Demeter。 But after she shows him kindness at a party, he doesn't want to go through with it。 Instead, he hatches a plan。 A fake marriage to keep Psyche safe。 What unfolds is a whirlwind fake romance that feels all too real。 So what happens when Eros wants to keep Psyche?I LOVED the marriage of convenience in this book。 One of I love this book! This was another covid binge, and I definitely enjoyed it more then the first。 I felt like the first was plot loosely put in place to showcase smut。 This one here actually had some semblance of a storyline。 Not rock solid, and was dragged out a bit, but better then the first。However I read the synopsis of the next and I’m not sure if I’m interested in how far the Helen storyline seems removed from the original for the sake of smut。 At least make it sound somewhat original to the plot in terms of This was another covid binge, and I definitely enjoyed it more then the first。 I felt like the first was plot loosely put in place to showcase smut。 This one here actually had some semblance of a storyline。 Not rock solid, and was dragged out a bit, but better then the first。However I read the synopsis of the next and I’m not sure if I’m interested in how far the Helen storyline seems removed from the original for the sake of smut。 At least make it sound somewhat original to the plot in terms of love interest。 This sounds like the problem I had with original of smut for the sake of being smutty。 I’d much rather get Callisto’s storyline。 That’s what sounds interesting 。。。more

I have a feeling that Eros and Psyche might be my new favorite Katee Robert couple。 Eros is so fucking cute with Psyche。 I just wanted them to say I love you to each other the whole time! Psyche is the plus sized queen that I needed! I didn’t realize how mediocre plus-size rep I’ve been reading until this book。 This was the perfect way to do it in my opinion。 And I loved how much Eros loved her and her body。 Where can I find an Eros for myself?

This is a bit of a departure from my usual historical romance, or occasional paranormal romance reading, (it's basically just current romance in a slightly altered world), but I was interested in the first book because I love the characters of Hades and Persephone so much, and I decided to stick with it and read the second in the series as well。 (I received an advance copy of Electric Idol for reviewing purposes, but this entire review is my genuine take on it)。The previous book, Neon Gods, ende This is a bit of a departure from my usual historical romance, or occasional paranormal romance reading, (it's basically just current romance in a slightly altered world), but I was interested in the first book because I love the characters of Hades and Persephone so much, and I decided to stick with it and read the second in the series as well。 (I received an advance copy of Electric Idol for reviewing purposes, but this entire review is my genuine take on it)。The previous book, Neon Gods, ended up being a bit of a mixed bag for me。 There were some inconsistencies in the world building and characters, but overall I was still entertained, and liked those versions of H&P decently, so I ended up giving it 3 stars。 The story of Eros and Psyche, on the other hand, has never grabbed me the way H&P's does, the whole secret identity thing, the heroine squirreled away, the characters hardly spending time getting to know each other, jealous backstabbing sisters, Eros running away all hurt, and Psyche being gorgeous but, honestly, quite simple。 But thankfully, this version tossed aside all those drawbacks。 No secret identity or abduction, time spent, close sisters, Eros doesn't play drama queen, and Psyche is more human than simply being stunning, and she's savvy to boot。 I actually like this version more than the original。 Both main characters have been used as pawns by their parents, but they carve out some agency for themselves and give support to each other, and it made me care more about them。 This version is much more interesting than the original in my opinion。Romeo and Juliet, Marriage of Convenience, Modern Retelling。 Dual narrators, M&F, on the audiobook。 。。。more
