Summary

This gripping novel from USA TODAY bestselling romantic suspense author Colleen Coble will leave you on the edge of your seat until the very last page。

A wealthy hotel heiress。

Even though Torie Bergstrom hasn’t been back to Georgia since she was ten, she’s happy to arrange a job for her best friend at one of the family properties on Jekyll Island。

A suspicious death。

But when Torie learns that her best friend has drowned, she knows it is more than a tragic accident: Lisbeth was terrified of water and wouldn’t have gone swimming by choice。

A fight for the truth。

Torie goes to the hotel under an alias, desperate to find answers。 When she meets Joe Abbott and his daughter rescuing baby turtles, she finds a tentative ally。

The more Torie and Joe dig, the more elusive the truth seems。 One thing is clear: someone will risk anything—even more murder—to keep their secrets buried。

A Stranger’s Game is the latest novel, a stand alone, by author Colleen Coble。 Torie Berg (Victoria Bergstrom, heiress to the Bergstrom resort empire) has returned undercover to the Jekyll Island, Georgia, resort where she spent her early childhood in search of what happened to her best friend Lisbeth Nelson。 Lisbeth had come to the island seeking information about what actually happened to Torie’s mom 18 years ago。 Whatever Lisbeth had discovered had cost her life。On Torie’s first night on the A Stranger’s Game is the latest novel, a stand alone, by author Colleen Coble。 Torie Berg (Victoria Bergstrom, heiress to the Bergstrom resort empire) has returned undercover to the Jekyll Island, Georgia, resort where she spent her early childhood in search of what happened to her best friend Lisbeth Nelson。 Lisbeth had come to the island seeking information about what actually happened to Torie’s mom 18 years ago。 Whatever Lisbeth had discovered had cost her life。On Torie’s first night on the island she meets Joe Abbott and his young daughter Hailey。 Joe, who trains sea mammals for the Navy and does part time security work for the resort, shares an instant connection with Torie, as does Hailey。 On that first night Torie finds haunting occurrences and scary music in her cabin。 She immediately turns to Joe for help and they become a team to thwart whatever this enemy is。But who is the enemy? Terroristic things had happened to Joe on the job。 Torie uncovers that there was some “plan” that Lisbeth may have stumbled upon。 And, simultaneously, the Navy is holding off shore war games while the resort is preparing to host a Federal Reserve meeting on site。 Who is the threat? In this well plotted thriller, Ms。 Coble brings a wonderful story with likable, damaged characters and ominous enemies to her readers。 In a beautiful setting these characters work to solve both current national threats as they also lead to closure for long term trauma。In the following days things are learned that put both Torie and Hailey in danger。 As the clues mount and the danger tightens around them it takes luck and love to overcome。This is a wonderful story and I do recommend it to the lovely readers of this genre。 I did enjoy this book and I do recommend it 。。。more

This was one of Colleen Coble better books。 I am a fan of hers and have read most of her books。 I like the setting in Jekyell Island which is familiar to me。 I like reading books with an area I know。 There was a lot of suspense working around solving several murders。 It kept you guessing until near the end who the murder was。 I enjoyed seeing Joe and Haily and Torie relationship grow throughout the story。 I would recommend this book for young adult and older。

MY THOUGHTS -Fantastic story。 The writing style of this book is so inviting right from chapter one。 I felt like I belonged。 I was taken to Jekyll Island, the beach, the ocean, the cabins and the hotel。 I lived in Savannah GA for a couple years but have never been to Jekyll Island。 I did however have friends that vacationed there every year and they just loved it。 The descriptions in this book made it so easily to visualize everything and I felt like I knew Tori right away。 I loved her character MY THOUGHTS -Fantastic story。 The writing style of this book is so inviting right from chapter one。 I felt like I belonged。 I was taken to Jekyll Island, the beach, the ocean, the cabins and the hotel。 I lived in Savannah GA for a couple years but have never been to Jekyll Island。 I did however have friends that vacationed there every year and they just loved it。 The descriptions in this book made it so easily to visualize everything and I felt like I knew Tori right away。 I loved her character and her personality。 And Joe! What was there not to love about him。 I was rooting for him the whole time。 Hailey's young character was done perfectly。There were a lot of very interesting parts, lots to learn about。 Joe worked security at the Jekyll Island Club Resort and trained sea lions to be used by the Navy。It all got very exciting at the end! Lots of twists, lots of people to suspect, never a dull moment。Oh my gosh, I think this might be one of my favorite Colleen Coble books yet。 There was drama, suspense, and heart beating excitement, and the start of a little romance。。。 and it all happens on the beach! People with trust issues lie。The big reveal of who killed Victoria's mother was anticlimactic, at best, as was the final resolution of it that came at the end of the book。 Like, no emotion attached to it at all, which is odd, considering we're talking about the death of the MC's mother。 The solution to the question of who killed Victoria's friend Lisbeth was melodramatic and even somewhat laughable。 Can anyone say, "Completely inept kidnapper?"Neither solution was a surprise, but given this is suspense, not mystery, you don't expect it to be。 Still, the story wasn't compelling。 The characters were annoying。 And I'm still really mad at myself for not giving up on this book after the first line。 I'm sure I'm in the minority here。 Perhaps I'll like another Colleen Coble book better。 Maybe this one wasn't her best。 It'll be a while before I pick another one up, though。 。。。more

The romance between Joe and Torie was well-paced and realistic, with Joe’s concern for his daughter Hailey overriding any romantic feelings he might have for Torie。 With three-dimensional characterization and a storyline that was original and absorbing, this book held me enthralled and even giving advice to the characters。 The ending seemed rushed to me, but I think that was because I did not want the story to end。 I could continue reading about Torie’s adventures and her quest for truth and justice for a long time to come。 The story was just that good and the characters were just that likable。 Of course, there were villains who were despicable, portrayed just as they should have been。 All in all, this is a winning book in the romantic suspense genre and fans of good, clean Christian fiction will cheer at the ending and applaud a well-written book。DisclaimerDisclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley。 I was not required to write a positive review。 The opinions expressed are my own。 I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255, “Guides Concerning the Use of Testimonials and Endorsements in Advertising。” 。。。more
