Highly recommended。Explains the concept of life in a nutshell。

I appreciate the concepts and the ideas behind the book。 However, at times, the writing veers completely into peachy, "just trust me on this"without evidence territory。Still good concepts and valuable things you can learn and apply to your daily life。 If you try to stick with the book till the end I appreciate the concepts and the ideas behind the book。 However, at times, the writing veers completely into peachy, "just trust me on this"without evidence territory。Still good concepts and valuable things you can learn and apply to your daily life。 If you try to stick with the book till the end 。。。more

The book has a lot of great advice, however, I felt that the material was very much about ME, ME, ME。 I can understand that we need to be a little selfish and work on ourselves to be fulfilled in life。 However, I also think we need to be willing to look beyond ourselves, and this book does very little to encourage me to serve and be mindful of others。

Really good book on how simple life can be made with these simple agreements。

I loved this read and am trying to incorporate these into my life。 As Mr。 Ruiz says it is a process and not an overnight thing。 So I am new to this and just trying my hardest to live a life by these four agreements。 For those who are not familiar, the four agreements are: Be Impeccable With Your Word, Don't Take Anything Personally, Don't Make Assumptions, Always Do Your Best。 WOW, so you want me to not take things personally? SO HARD TO DO! You are expecting me to not make assumptions? UGH! SO HARD TO DO! You are expecting me to not make assumptions? UGH! I try to do my best always, so that is probably the easier for me to wrap my head around。 Be impeccable with my words? Well first I needed to know the real meaning of impeccable。 Per merriam-webster。com "free from fault or blame; not capable of sinning or liable to sin。" Guess I have been using the word impeccable incorrectly my entire life。 in fairness to me, it is not a word I have used that often in my life。 So, based on that definition I am trying to be more impeccable with my words, but that too is not easy。 I am as fond of gossip as the next person and I do not always say the nicest things。 As with all the agreements, this is something I need to work on。 I bough the kindle version of this book, but when I went to the book store to check out the companion book, I was made aware there is now a 5th agreement。 So I purchased that book and the companion。 My plan was to finish the kindle version, which I have done and now I will move on to the 5 Agreements and read that book utilizing the companion book while doing that reading。 Hopefully with two readings and the companion I will be more successful with adapting the agreements into my life。 Wish me luck as i wish to you if you are trying to adapt these agreements into your life! 。。。more

A psychologist suggested I read this in middle school I think。 It was unintelligible。 I could not understand anything in it。 I wouldn't mind going back to see what I think of it now, but from the reviews and the little I remember of it, it is not high on my list。 A psychologist suggested I read this in middle school I think。 It was unintelligible。 I could not understand anything in it。 I wouldn't mind going back to see what I think of it now, but from the reviews and the little I remember of it, it is not high on my list。 。。。more

This book will change the way you speak you hear something about yourself and how you start making assumptions about any one。

While sometimes the agreements are oversimplified, this is still a great little book with some heavy ideas。 Focusing on any one of these agreements can greatly improve your life and decrease stress; focusing on all four can really be life-changing for many people。 If followed generally and not fanatically, these suggestions can help you reduce a great amount of stress by helping you avoid thought and behavior patterns that create frustration, blame, hurt feelings, and other negative emotions。- h While sometimes the agreements are oversimplified, this is still a great little book with some heavy ideas。 Focusing on any one of these agreements can greatly improve your life and decrease stress; focusing on all four can really be life-changing for many people。 If followed generally and not fanatically, these suggestions can help you reduce a great amount of stress by helping you avoid thought and behavior patterns that create frustration, blame, hurt feelings, and other negative emotions。- https://www。verywellmind。com/the-four。。。 。。。more

Empezó siendo un libro muy básico, pero a medida que lo iba leyendo realmente tocó fibras muy íntimas。 Creo que es un libro muy bello con una enseñanza que a veces damos por sentada pero que nos falta analizar。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Awful。 Insulting。 Written as tho it was meant for children or adults who are not thinking and want to be treated as a child。 The 4 “agreements“ are reasonable, but comments like “95% of the beliefs we have stored in our minds are nothing but lies and we suffer because we believe these lies。” So insulting and not helping the reader to reflect and grow。 Frightening how many people felt it moved them。。。

Loved it。 A truly practical guide for remembering truth and purpose。 I felt like I was listening to a friend give wholehearted genuine advice。 I will read it again。

Straightforward read that can be done in a day。 The author provides 4 main agreements that are easy to follow。 The book does feel preachy at times but the points were still easily followed。

Loved this book。 A definite re-read and small enough to carry around to do just that。

This book is so great and eye-opening。 I wish everyone read this book。 If we all lived by these agreements I think we would be happier and less focused on others’ lives。 It’s a quick, easy read, but does require some focus to let the lessons sink in。 It only took me a while because I took a break from reading。

(c/p from my review on TheStoryGraph) Not everything in this book is something I agree with 100% but the bones of it are extremely helpful。 The general idea of how letting go of things that don't serve you, of ideas about yourself and others that don't serve you, being things you can shed is, I think, mostly true。 Obviously this is harder for neuroatypical people but not, I think, impossible, I think it is a great starter with good solid foundations for people looking for some self improvement。 (c/p from my review on TheStoryGraph) Not everything in this book is something I agree with 100% but the bones of it are extremely helpful。 The general idea of how letting go of things that don't serve you, of ideas about yourself and others that don't serve you, being things you can shed is, I think, mostly true。 Obviously this is harder for neuroatypical people but not, I think, impossible, I think it is a great starter with good solid foundations for people looking for some self improvement。 。。。more

This has been on my shelf for several years, and it's one of those "must-reads," according to most people。 I hesitate to say this, but。。。it was ok。 I mean, just ok。 The actual four agreements Ruiz discusses are intriguing, and I see his point totally。 But I feel like he was just a little vague about how to actually incorporate them into your life。 I'm a person who needs instructions on this sort of thing。 Examples。 LOTS of examples。 He gives some, but not enough, in my opinion。 I also found myse This has been on my shelf for several years, and it's one of those "must-reads," according to most people。 I hesitate to say this, but。。。it was ok。 I mean, just ok。 The actual four agreements Ruiz discusses are intriguing, and I see his point totally。 But I feel like he was just a little vague about how to actually incorporate them into your life。 I'm a person who needs instructions on this sort of thing。 Examples。 LOTS of examples。 He gives some, but not enough, in my opinion。 I also found myself saying, "it's not that simple," or "easier said than done" a lot (to no one, of course, since I was alone reading, but still。。。doesn't everyone talk to the author/characters of the books they're reading?)。 I guess it's clear that I need SOME kind of self-help/personal-growth sort of book。。。just not this one。 。。。more

I took me so long to go though it, only till I realised the best way to read this book is to skim it。 It can be repetitive in a single paragraph, hence the skimming part。 But overall it does offer a tangible advice and I can see me implementing it in my life。

The Four Agreements, by: Don Miguel RuizReview by: Andrea RecinosHow can I start describing this book?。。。 While I was reading and when I finished it, there were so many thoughts I had from it so I’ll sum them up into this review。 The Four Agreements is a book that talks about a certain balance and how having the 4 agreements of being impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best can lead and make your life easier and better for you to The Four Agreements, by: Don Miguel RuizReview by: Andrea RecinosHow can I start describing this book?。。。 While I was reading and when I finished it, there were so many thoughts I had from it so I’ll sum them up into this review。 The Four Agreements is a book that talks about a certain balance and how having the 4 agreements of being impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best can lead and make your life easier and better for you to handle。 A balance that leads to personal freedom。 I understood this book is based on Toltec wisdom and for me, that was no problem at all… it just intrigued me more。The very first chapter mentions how we do not choose but instead, we agree, and honestly, at some point, I do understand where this is coming from and as you continue reading through, examples and thoughts are just thrown at you but for some reason that does not sit well with me。 It’s quite hard for me to not enjoy a book but saying that we train our children as any form of a cat or domestic animal it just does not make sense at all, we never choose but instead, we agree, mentioning how on some religions if you are not to follow something you go to hell buthe says “sorry to break it to you but we are already living in hell, no one can condemn us to a place we are already in” and so on (just to clarify this is only the start of it)。 Having such rough and one-sided comments written without any backing evidence besides an opinion is wrong。 I’m aware that this book is following Toltec ways and beliefs, as a Christian my ways of thinking are quite different, and as I mentioned I was truly aware of this from the start as my intentions were to read from another perspective。 It got quite confusing to read some parts as the author makes sure to mention God and verses from the bible, this just made the direction and understanding of the book way harder。I could keep on mentioning other things that made me just want to stop reading but I wanted to take on this challenge and finish it, so I had to change my perspective of things when reading it and this helped me get through it and actually find positive parts。 I’m going to mention some of the parts I did enjoy because in everything there is always something good we can take and for me it was these advises:I enjoyed how the author refers to the mind as fertile soil as we are the ones that plant a seed in it and it can either be to prosper or destroy。In order for us to be truly free, we need to get rid of the parasite that lives in our heads that feeds off our negative emotions。When doing your best you should never expect a reward to go with it because if you do you are just working for the reward and that just makes the journey tiring and harder。I totally agree with this statement “when someone comments on your life, mostly in a negative way, it’s not that what they said is hurting but instead it’s a wound that was touched whenever that phrase was said” So, I can say that I will not read this book again as it is definitely not my cup of tea, but I can say that even though I did not fully enjoy it, I was able to get some very important life lessons out of it。 Definitely, my favorite quote was “God is life。 God is life in action。 The best way to say I love you to God is by doing your best。 The best way to say thank you to God is by letting go of the past and living in the present, in the now。 Just your existence proves the existence of God”。 。。。more

The idea and premise were interesting for someone coming from a very conservative family, but I found it really interesting and mind-opening。
