Summary

In this riveting novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Danielle Steel, a gifted young woman must grapple with the legacy of a troubled childhood in order to pursue her dreams。

Antonia Adams is the product of a loveless marriage between a beautiful young model and an aristocrat。 As a child, she is abandoned in the abyss that yawns between them, blamed by her mother, ignored by her father, and neglected by both。 Unprotected and unloved, she learns that the only way to feel safe is to hide from the dangers around her, drawing as little attention as possible to herself, to be "invisible。"

In her isolation, books are her refuge and movies her escape。 A day spent being carried away by an unforgettable film in a dark theater is her greatest thrill。 Her love of the movies turns into a dream to become a screenwriter, and a summer job at a Hollywood studio。 There, a famous British filmmaker notices her, and suddenly she can remain invisible no longer。 He wants to put her in a movie and make her a star。 It is a dazzling opportunity but a terrifying one, as it strips her of the camouflage that made her feel safe。 She is suddenly thrust into the public eye--and even more so when they fall in love。

She will never let go of her true dream of becoming a filmmaker, though, and if she wants to make that leap, she will have to expose herself in ways she never has before。 When tragedy strikes, she must decide whether she will remain center stage or become invisible again, where she feels safest。 Will she face her demons, or run and hide?

In this extraordinary novel, Danielle Steel tells the story of a woman who must decide how high a price she is willing to pay to pursue her passion--and whether it is possible to stay true to herself while she does。

I enjoyed Antonia's character, for the most part。 There were a few nuances that were annoying, but overall, she was a decent, sympathetic character。 I liked her relationship with Hamish - given her upbringing, it made a lot of sense, and I thought Hamish was a good influence on her。 I really enjoyed Lara's character as well and her relationship with Antonia。 Finally, I enjoyed seeing the progression of Antonia's life, and how she overcame so many personal issues to find success and happiness。Ant I enjoyed Antonia's character, for the most part。 There were a few nuances that were annoying, but overall, she was a decent, sympathetic character。 I liked her relationship with Hamish - given her upbringing, it made a lot of sense, and I thought Hamish was a good influence on her。 I really enjoyed Lara's character as well and her relationship with Antonia。 Finally, I enjoyed seeing the progression of Antonia's life, and how she overcame so many personal issues to find success and happiness。Antonia's brief reconnection with her mother was obvious and contrived。 It felt forced and fell completely flat, adding next to nothing to the overall storyline。 Antonia's relationship with her daughter as she was growing up also felt forced and obvious。 I ended up hating Antonia's father, which was probably to be expected, but I found myself wishing his relationship with Antonia had taken a different path as she got older。 As a final thought, I felt that while Antonia's character stayed true to her desire to be invisible as she was growing up, she evolved into a strong, self-sufficient and incredibly successful adult, which didn't entirely jive with the book title and overall premise of the storyline。Despite some of my somewhat trivial issues with the book, I enjoyed this one and would recommend it to Danielle Steel fans。 。。。more

I always wonder how Danielle Steel keeps coming up with such great books, and I have yet to figure it out。 I am always looking for a good read and Danielle Steel always delivers。 When we meet Antonia Adams, she is a baby that is unwanted from the very moment of conception by her mom, a young model looking to make it big。 Her mom does not want to be tied down with a baby nor be bothered by being a mom to Antonia。 Antonia's mom ends up leaving and her dad is left to raise her。 Antonia's dad is not I always wonder how Danielle Steel keeps coming up with such great books, and I have yet to figure it out。 I am always looking for a good read and Danielle Steel always delivers。 When we meet Antonia Adams, she is a baby that is unwanted from the very moment of conception by her mom, a young model looking to make it big。 Her mom does not want to be tied down with a baby nor be bothered by being a mom to Antonia。 Antonia's mom ends up leaving and her dad is left to raise her。 Antonia's dad is not fond of raising a child on his own so Antonia is left to be raised by sitters that she doesn't even really know。 This causes Antonia to do what she has to in school and just become invisible so that she doesn't cause any problems for her father。 Antonia keeps herself busy on Saturdays by going to the movies in hopes of seeing her mom on the big screen since that was the whole reason she left in the first place, to be a model and movie star! Antonia never sees her mom in any of the movies she watches but she learns tons about screenwriting from the movies。 Antonia's father has harsh feelings against modeling and acting since that is what took his first wife away from him so when Antonia grows up and says that she wants to do play writing, This sets her father off and says that he will only pay for Antonia's college if she promises that she will not become and actor。 Antonia has no interest in becoming an actor, she just wants to write and produce movies。 When Antonia takes a summer job and meets a well known British film maker, things take a turn for her。 You will not regret picking this book up and reading it。 I have not read a Danielle Steel book that I have not enjoyed, and I have read tons of her books。 Reading Antonia's story had it's ups and downs and left me longing for more of her life in this book。 I voluntarily read and reviewed this book and all opinions are my own。 Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and of course Danielle Steel for an advanced copy of this book! 。。。more

Invisible by Danielle Steel was a book that I read and was left wanting so much more。This is a story of Antonia Adam’s life。 She had a very unhappy and rough childhood with no real love from either her mother or father。 The family she was born into was not ever a true family。 I found this book for me to be flat and not have the emotion I usually get from a Danielle Steel book。 I wanted to feel like I was connected to a character in the story, but I never got that this time。 Thank you NetGalley a Invisible by Danielle Steel was a book that I read and was left wanting so much more。This is a story of Antonia Adam’s life。 She had a very unhappy and rough childhood with no real love from either her mother or father。 The family she was born into was not ever a true family。 I found this book for me to be flat and not have the emotion I usually get from a Danielle Steel book。 I wanted to feel like I was connected to a character in the story, but I never got that this time。 Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC。 This is my personal review。 。。。more

I rediscovered Danielle Steel about 2 years ago。 Her books rarely disappoint me when I am looking for a light and easy book to read。 Invisible tells the story of Antonia who rises above abusive parents and finds love and a career and makes a wonderful life for herself! Although parts of the plot were predictable, the story flowed easily and kept my attention。 A wonderful escape! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

true Danielle Steel style, this book takes you through all the emotions and feels of family dynamics。 Invisible deals with the repercussions of trauma as a child。 Antonia grew up in a dysfunctional family-her mother wanted nothing more than to be an actress and not a mother and her father resented her for not being a mother to their child。 Once her mother leaves to pursue her career, Antonia is left with her father to raise her, and he has no idea what to do and is resentful of it so he builds a true Danielle Steel style, this book takes you through all the emotions and feels of family dynamics。 Invisible deals with the repercussions of trauma as a child。 Antonia grew up in a dysfunctional family-her mother wanted nothing more than to be an actress and not a mother and her father resented her for not being a mother to their child。 Once her mother leaves to pursue her career, Antonia is left with her father to raise her, and he has no idea what to do and is resentful of it so he builds a wall up and pushes Antonia out。 Antonia deals with this as she always does, and puts her nose to the grindstone at home and at school and makes herself invisible by doing everything that is expected of her and not drawing attention to herself。 She dreams of becoming a screenwriter so she goes to university to study it and it changes her life。 When she meets her future husband, a famous director, he puts her in front of the screen so she won’t be invisible anymore。 She also meets her best friend, falls in love and it changes her future and how she looks at her past。 Thanks to Random House and Netgalley for this Arc in exchange for my review。 Publication date: February 1, 2022 。。。more

What a sad, depressing read。 Steel has created some reprehensible characters in her long career of writing, but Brandon and Fabienne are worse than that。 I spent the first half of the book wishing I could deck both of them。 The main character is compliant and submissive for most of the book。 This wasn’t one of Steel’s better reads。 @randomhouse @netgalley #ds #daniellesteel #sad #neglect #invisible thanks to random house and NetGalley for the early copy。

Antonia Adams is the daughter of a rich American businessman and his wanna-be actress wife。 Her mother never wanted her and her dad is too busy for her。 She grows up feeling that she’s been the cause of their unpleasant split。 Steel does a nice job of developing her character as Antonia moves on to college and adulthood but her awful childhood may trigger some people。 I enjoyed this book and thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC。
