Summary

Bestselling author of the Wheat Belly franchise brings his next big, game changing idea – the human microbiome and the silent epidemic of SIBO – to the mainstream。

Dr。 Davis has connected the dots between “gut health” and many common, modern ailments and complaints。 1 in 3 people have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), which causes a long list of health issues and illnesses; it is a silent and profound epidemic created by the absence of microbial species that our ancestors had even 50-100 years ago, which have been erased by the industrialization of food and medicine。 Dr。 Davis also discusses how patients with dementia commonly have fungi on their brain–SIFO (small intestinal fungal overgrowth)–that has traveled upwards from the intestinal tract。

Super Gut shares a four-week plan to reprogram your microbiome based on research and techniques that not only gets to the root of many diseases but improves levels of oxytocin (the bonding/happy hormone), brain health, and promotes anti-aging and weight loss。 Dr。 Davis provides not just the science and case studies but also more than forty recipes and solutions。 In Super Gut, he ensures readers understand the science, diagnose their gut issues, eradicate them, and maintain their long-term health。

This book has really interesting and important information in it regarding g stomach health, weight and overall health。 However, I found it very hard to follow。 There’s a lot of scientific language that is not broken down。 Or if it is, it is explained once and then the reader is expected to know it。 I found myself using Google a lot to understand! Or I would just get frustrated and skim! I told my husband to read it and tell me about it! He’s into nutrition and will hopefully understand better t This book has really interesting and important information in it regarding g stomach health, weight and overall health。 However, I found it very hard to follow。 There’s a lot of scientific language that is not broken down。 Or if it is, it is explained once and then the reader is expected to know it。 I found myself using Google a lot to understand! This is a comprehensive overview of how bacteria and fungi can impact the gut, causing conditions like small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)。 It includes options you can try yourself if you don't want to use antibiotics (or if you want to try other avenues first) and advice on how to keep the gut healthy AFTER the bad bacteria has been eradicated—an important step doctors often seem to ignore。 There are also a bunch of recipes at the end, which I assume you are supposed to use after you a This is a comprehensive overview of how bacteria and fungi can impact the gut, causing conditions like small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)。 It includes options you can try yourself if you don't want to use antibiotics (or if you want to try other avenues first) and advice on how to keep the gut healthy AFTER the bad bacteria has been eradicated—an important step doctors often seem to ignore。 There are also a bunch of recipes at the end, which I assume you are supposed to use after you are starting to feel better, because they include things like onions that are a huge no-no for me while I have IBS/SIBO symptoms。 。。。more

Gut health is a topic that is not talked about a lot and it really should be。 While I wasn't super interested in all of the scientific talk in the book, I was interested in ways that we can take that knowledge and use it in our lives to be healthier people。 I appreciated how the book was put together and how he gave us a look at how to incorporate better habits and good food into our lives。 I agree that we are too medicated as a society and take antibiotics way too much, and I like how he shows Gut health is a topic that is not talked about a lot and it really should be。 While I wasn't super interested in all of the scientific talk in the book, I was interested in ways that we can take that knowledge and use it in our lives to be healthier people。 I appreciated how the book was put together and how he gave us a look at how to incorporate better habits and good food into our lives。 I agree that we are too medicated as a society and take antibiotics way too much, and I like how he shows how that affects us down the road。 I definitely will take many of his suggestions and incorporate them into my life and can't wait to see the benefits down the road! Thanks to NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion。 。。。more

Another ding! ding! ding! book from William Davis, MD。 Yes… let’s get back to the root of our problems and quit treating medical issues with a blanket of antibiotics! This book was quite the eye opener for me and had me asking myself lots of questions。 Why aren’t we treating certain medical issues differently? Why isn’t gut health discussed more in general? Excellent book! Very easy to understand for someone without a medical background。

I am a nutritionist and also personally have had many digestive issues, including SIBO, so when I learned about this new book from Dr。 Davis, I was interested。 It was an informative book about the microbiome and many of the issues that can be caused when it is out of balance。 Many of the nutrient and diet suggestions Dr。 Davis has are useful。 I was particularly interested in the information about various probiotics and their uses。 The only negative I have, is that I do not agree that SIBO should I am a nutritionist and also personally have had many digestive issues, including SIBO, so when I learned about this new book from Dr。 Davis, I was interested。 It was an informative book about the microbiome and many of the issues that can be caused when it is out of balance。 Many of the nutrient and diet suggestions Dr。 Davis has are useful。 I was particularly interested in the information about various probiotics and their uses。 The only negative I have, is that I do not agree that SIBO should be self-diagnosed using the device he recommends。 If a reader is having gut problems and suspects SIBO, they should se a qualified practitioner to be tested。 Otherwise I do recommend this book to learn more about the digestive tract (gut) and solutions to its problems。 。。。more

Fantastic! William Davis takes so many of the missing puzzle pieces relating to a healthy gut microbiome and fits them neatly into a plan of action that seems relatively simple to implement。 Everything he brought out makes so much sense, and I look forward to trying numerous things from this book。 Highly recommended for anyone with autoimmunity, inflammation, ‘mystery’ chronic illness, as well as common diseases and disorders。 A huge thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to Fantastic! I have dealt with digestive issues for over a decade。 They have gotten significantly worse in the last 2 years after I contracted covid。 Reading this book helped me better understand what is going on, come up with language to discuss with my doctors, and have easy practices I can follow at home。 While I don't agree with everything he wrote, I do think there is a lot of value in understanding and properly feeding the microbiome。 I have dealt with digestive issues for over a decade。 They have gotten significantly worse in the last 2 years after I contracted covid。 Reading this book helped me better understand what is going on, come up with language to discuss with my doctors, and have easy practices I can follow at home。 While I don't agree with everything he wrote, I do think there is a lot of value in understanding and properly feeding the microbiome。 。。。more
