Endearing！I enjoyed reading this book！These emotional characters were filled with a great amount of depth， their background gave so much more to the development of the storyline which is solid and a consistent page turner。 The story flowed easily throughout the pages。 A must read！

I knew Jax story would be a great one and did it ever deliver。 I love how resourceful and independent she is。 How strong she is even in the face of her parents seemingly reluctance to have her there。 But once she finds out the family secrets she finds a relationship with her mother， and an unexpected distraction in Andrew。Never wanting to settle for the kind of man her parents want for her， Jax has always went the complete opposite。 But when her brother calls her back to England for a family eme I knew Jax story would be a great one and did it ever deliver。 I love how resourceful and independent she is。 How strong she is even in the face of her parents seemingly reluctance to have her there。 But once she finds out the family secrets she finds a relationship with her mother， and an unexpected distraction in Andrew。Never wanting to settle for the kind of man her parents want for her， Jax has always went the complete opposite。 But when her brother calls her back to England for a family emergency she doesn’t know what to expect。 And she finds things aren’t always what they seem。Andrew is not at all what she thought。 He may be in an office but he isn’t t the stodgy man one would think。 He’s sexy， and strong and up for just about anything Jax throws at him。Even in the face of her family secrets and the dangers of her job he stands firm thru it all。 Their chemistry is off the charts and catching her off guard is wonderful。When things go bad and Jax faces her biggest threat， Andrews unwavering strength and love help her to face it all。 I loved this book and the whole series and can’t wait for more！ 。。。more

With the perfect mix of action/suspense and romance， Catherine Bybee delivers another story that had me captured from the first page and reading far into the night！I loved all the twists and turns in this book and how so many things that seemed to be unrelated came together at the end。 I also loved how Jax and Andrew’s relationship was interwoven into this story and the part that Andrew plays in everything。 I wouldn’t have blamed him for running， but I loved that he stayed and stepped up， managi With the perfect mix of action/suspense and romance， Catherine Bybee delivers another story that had me captured from the first page and reading far into the night！I loved all the twists and turns in this book and how so many things that seemed to be unrelated came together at the end。 I also loved how Jax and Andrew’s relationship was interwoven into this story and the part that Andrew plays in everything。 I wouldn’t have blamed him for running， but I loved that he stayed and stepped up， managing to be everything that Jax needed， even when things got dangerous。With an easy-to-read writing style and characters that are engaging and feel real， plus a story line that has family secrets， suspense， action， mystery， and romance， Bybee has added another book to her collection of work that should appeal to anyone。 I love the family of characters she has created at McBain Security and how they all come together to protect and support each other。This book is part of a series but can easily be read as a standalone， but， in my opinion， the best experience would be to start the series from the beginning since so many characters from other books play a part - and honestly， they are all great reads！Catherine Bybee has delivered another great story that I would highly recommend to anyone。 。。。more

For those who follow my reviews， you know that I never miss a Catherine Bybee release。 There is just something in her stories that keeps me coming back for more every single time。 It could be the incredible characters， the amazing storyline filled with suspense， romance， laughter and even a little bit of heartbreak， or it could be that she always manages to surprise me， no matter how many books of hers I've read。 But most likely， it's a combination of all。 And in true Bybee fashion， that's exact For those who follow my reviews， you know that I never miss a Catherine Bybee release。 There is just something in her stories that keeps me coming back for more every single time。 It could be the incredible characters， the amazing storyline filled with suspense， romance， laughter and even a little bit of heartbreak， or it could be that she always manages to surprise me， no matter how many books of hers I've read。 But most likely， it's a combination of all。 And in true Bybee fashion， that's exactly the case with An Unexpected Distraction。To be honest， I've been intrigued by Jax from the very first book in The Richter Series and I always knew it will be a special one。 And this latest instalment in the series definitely didn't disappoint。 With every single page I was getting more and more engrossed into the story- from Jax unearthing very well kept secrets leading her on a dangerous path， through rebuilding her relationship with her mother， to finding the man who can be her equal and would be her perfect other half。 And all that makes the perfect cocktail to snuggle up with on a cold winter night。I am not going to go into details because I don't want to spoil the story for anyone。 The one thing I would say is that this is a must read in my opinion。 I so can't wait to find out what happens next in this amazing world because that ending just left too many open doors ;） Btw， the book doesn't end up in a cliffie。 Just thought I will clarify :DI received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange of an honest review 。。。more

I very much enjoyed this book。 It is by far my favorite of the series。 I loved Jax and Andrew's story starting with their humorous first meeting and the slow build of their romance all the way through。 You can just feel the chemistry between these two characters。 The story that goes along with the romance is suspenseful with lots of twists。 Put this must read high on the list。 I definitely recommend it。 I very much enjoyed this book。 It is by far my favorite of the series。 I loved Jax and Andrew's story starting with their humorous first meeting and the slow build of their romance all the way through。 You can just feel the chemistry between these two characters。 The story that goes along with the romance is suspenseful with lots of twists。 Put this must read high on the list。 I definitely recommend it。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this story overall with it's twisting plot， ongoing mystery， great characters and fun dialogue。 Andrew is sent to pick up Jax at the airport when she returns home at her brother's request and she mistakes him for a hired driver。 They hit it off and he ends up joining her in her investigation into Richter， her old alma mater （he's in finance so definitely not in his comfort zone）。 Things get crazy and they realize there's more to their relationship， even though they haven't known I really enjoyed this story overall with it's twisting plot， ongoing mystery， great characters and fun dialogue。 Andrew is sent to pick up Jax at the airport when she returns home at her brother's request and she mistakes him for a hired driver。 They hit it off and he ends up joining her in her investigation into Richter， her old alma mater （he's in finance so definitely not in his comfort zone）。 Things get crazy and they realize there's more to their relationship， even though they haven't known each other long。 The mystery at Richter still isn't solved so it looks like there may be another episode to this series （I hope so！）The only downside is the lack of editing to correct the many typos， punctuation errors， incorrect word usages and lack of using connecting words （and， but， etc。） in place of commas in sentences to make them read correctly and more easily。 This appears very unusual for Ms。 Bybee so this may be an unedited version released as an ARC through NetGalley。 This is the only reason for not giving this book five stars。。#netgalley 。。。more

Ms Bybee creates such mesmerising books that pull a reader （especially this reader） in from the beginning and just make me want to read her stories in one sitting and that's exactly what I did with this third book of this author's Richter series。 Jax was such a strong heroine with a great personality。 Her approach to every part of the investigation into Richter and every suspenseful situation was interesting because she knew she'd face some tough challenges， not only with the investigation but a Ms Bybee creates such mesmerising books that pull a reader （especially this reader） in from the beginning and just make me want to read her stories in one sitting and that's exactly what I did with this third book of this author's Richter series。 Jax was such a strong heroine with a great personality。 Her approach to every part of the investigation into Richter and every suspenseful situation was interesting because she knew she'd face some tough challenges， not only with the investigation but also with her growing attraction to Andrew。 While Andrew， he was fan-your-face hot and such a wonderful hero。 I couldn't get enough of him and even though this pair are complete opposites， they definitely have great chemistry that made me think Jax was a lucky woman to have found such a man。 Overall， Ms Bybee has penned an incredible， engaging， fast-paced， suspense-filled read in this book with excellent support characters and characters that everyone should want to get to know and I can't wait for future books of this series。 。。。more

After the previous books in the Richter series， I was so excited to read Jax's story。 I knew her experience at Richter was different than those that attended as orphans， trained and recruited for top level spy work that was not always on the up and up。 But Jax was sent to the school by her family， so she was in no real danger of being pulled into the darker side of Richter uncovered in Sasha's （First Wives） book。After a frantic call from her brother， Jax rushes home to England to discover the fa After the previous books in the Richter series， I was so excited to read Jax's story。 I knew her experience at Richter was different than those that attended as orphans， trained and recruited for top level spy work that was not always on the up and up。 But Jax was sent to the school by her family， so she was in no real danger of being pulled into the darker side of Richter uncovered in Sasha's （First Wives） book。After a frantic call from her brother， Jax rushes home to England to discover the family emergency is a pending divorce between her parents。 And while her relationship with both of them is strained， she's determined to get to the bottom of the issue that's come between the two。 The last thing she anticipates is the ties back to Richter that brought about the current family drama。As Jax and the team work to uncover what mysteries may be held within the walls of Richter， she finds herself growing ever closer to Andrew， a college friend of her brother。 The development of their relationship is absolute perfection。 Andrew proves to be so much stronger and supportive than any man from Jax's past。 Their relationship is natural， and they fall into an easy rhythm。One of my favorite things about An Unexpected Distraction is the development of the relationship between Jax and her mother， bridging the gap that was built on year apart while Jax was in school。 The closer they become， the more her mom opens up。 Discovering their new normal is one of my favorite journeys in the book。While the stories of the women we met as students in Sasha's book have been told， Bybee has left room to explore more in the Richter world。 I truly hope we are treated to more stories surrounding the school。An Unexpected Distraction is a must read - you do not want to miss out on all of the character development throughout this book。 。。。more

I've been so intrigued by all of the books in the Richter series thus far and An Unexpected Distraction was no different。 Catherine Bybee has a way of creating a story where you're pulled in from the very beginning and you're kept on the edge of your seat as you progress through the book。Jacqueline "Jax" Simons， who attended Richter Boarding School during high school， now works for McBain Security where she uses the skills she mastered during her years at Richter to work as a private investigato I've been so intrigued by all of the books in the Richter series thus far and An Unexpected Distraction was no different。 Catherine Bybee has a way of creating a story where you're pulled in from the very beginning and you're kept on the edge of your seat as you progress through the book。Jacqueline "Jax" Simons， who attended Richter Boarding School during high school， now works for McBain Security where she uses the skills she mastered during her years at Richter to work as a private investigator。 While she grew up in Europe， she's lived in California for the past six years and she's love every minute of it。 When she gets a call from her brother that she needs to come home， she knows something big must be up， as she hasn't been close to her family for a very long time。 With it being a family issue， she does what she knows she should and boards a flight。Andrew Craig is the friend of Jax's brother， Harry， and he does his buddy a favor by picking up his sister at the airport when she arrives。 He's not forthcoming with exactly who he is， so Jax thinks he's just a driver who was hired to pick her up。 He would like nothing more than the opportunity to see Jax again， so he heads to her hotel， where that happens。 The two find that there is a definite attraction between them， but can anything come of it？Jax ends up getting an assignment that will keep her in Europe for a while longer。 Not only that， but the family matters are keeping her there longer as well。 Andrew ends up playing a role in the assignment she's given since the two are dating。 It gives her a good cover， but it also gives Andrew a true look into how dangerous the work that Jax does can be。 Will he be able to handle it？ Will Jax be able to get herself out of a difficult spot that she finds herself in？As I mentioned at the outset， this series has been so good and this one was no exception。 We were certainly set up for a forthcoming book， which makes me excited。 I'm always up for any book that Bybee pens for us！**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review** 。。。more
