Certainly learned or re-learned a lot from this book。 Full of facts， figures， dates。 I did enjoy reading it and will reread parts。 Rated it two stars because I felt it did not live up to its title。 Also seemed like a re-telling of first year history/geography class。 I didn’t think it covered enough new ground。 Sorry。

Fascinating read。 I think this is a "read now" book as it takes you through the history of countries to the very present day， explaining why countries are making decisions and performing certain actions now and where they may be heading。 I found it truly enlightening and as I read it the daily newspaper had leading articles that were so more understandable and I had much more context。 The world is very complicated and Tim Marshall shines a light of explanation helping you simplify if a little。 Fascinating read。 I think this is a "read now" book as it takes you through the history of countries to the very present day， explaining why countries are making decisions and performing certain actions now and where they may be heading。 I found it truly enlightening and as I read it the daily newspaper had leading articles that were so more understandable and I had much more context。 The world is very complicated and Tim Marshall shines a light of explanation helping you simplify if a little。 。。。more

Great read about the current state - and predicted future - of ten of the most influential global regions。 The final chapter is the most compelling。 I wish Marshall had actually spent MORE time prognosticating on the future…but still a great read。

Essentially a condensed history of a few countries that only occasionally goes beyond the trivia and really into the power of geography。 Because of this， the final chapter on space — not history then but speculation on what it may come to be — is the most interesting in the book
