Summary

It’s match point in the most important tennis match in my life, and nothing can distract me。 Nothing, that is, except the sight of Jude Wilder sitting in the stands with his little sister on his lap。 He’s never watched me play。 Never even noticed me before。 And yet his eyes are on me now。 I know what he must be thinking。 I’m not just an outcast, I’m a social pariah thanks to my family being the town’s most notorious con artists。 Jude is on the opposite side of the spectrum。 Not only is he accepted, he’s worshipped。 I’m nobody to him, and yet I’ve got this chance to impress him。

As it turns out, he isn’t at all impressed when I win the match, and I’m worse than a nobody to him。 Jude thinks I’m a threat to his family。 This should alarm me。 It should scare me。 Jude in protective mode is hot, all right, but I can’t afford to be on his radar。 I’ve got one year to secure a college scholarship。 It’s hard enough keeping a low profile with my tennis success, and the last thing I need is Jude Wilder of all people drawing more attention my way。

Especially if it’s hostile。

Even if I like it。

I absolutely adored this story!!! It was so awesome to come back and see/meet this second generation from the Pepper Jones series。 This is the first book in this spin off and so it can be read as a standalone but if you read that series you will get soooo much extra enjoyment out of it。 Once I picked up the book, I did not want to put it down。 Jude reminds me a lot of Jace, his dad, and I loved seeing his protective side and how family orientated he was。 Karis has been handled a bad hand dealt f I absolutely adored this story!!! This story is good。 Jude is a football standout in his own right。 He comes a family with a notable name in sports but they have worked hard to keep him balanced。 And then there is Karis。 She was not so fortunate in her family background and she is a rising tennis star。 Jude thinks that she is more like her mother than she is and it is only when they begin to spend time together that he gets that she is not like her money at all costs parent。 This story is just the beginning of their journey and This story is good。 Jude is a football standout in his own right。 He comes a family with a notable name in sports but they have worked hard to keep him balanced。 And then there is Karis。 She was not so fortunate in her family background and she is a rising tennis star。 Jude thinks that she is more like her mother than she is and it is only when they begin to spend time together that he gets that she is not like her money at all costs parent。 This story is just the beginning of their journey and I appreciated the pace and getting to know these two and I am looking forward to the next part of their story。 The wait begins。I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review。 。。。more

This was the continuation to the Pepper Jones series that I had hoped for! As usual, Ms。 Ali Dean has such a great flow to the story that you start getting into the book and then, BOOM, you are done。 (WARNING: This book ends with a cliffhanger! I am so excited to back into the world of the Wilder family, and a next-generation series from Dean。 The best thing about this is that you don’t have to read the Pepper Jones series to start this journey。Jude is an amazing character who is the best of both Pepper and Jace。 He is caring, loving, and loyal to a fault。 Karis is the opposite of her family’s reputation, and all she wants to do is play tennis。 Her independence is one of my favorite things about her along with her ability to know what I am so excited to back into the world of the Wilder family, and a next-generation series from Dean。 The best thing about this is that you don’t have to read the Pepper Jones series to start this journey。Jude is an amazing character who is the best of both Pepper and Jace。 He is caring, loving, and loyal to a fault。 Karis is the opposite of her family’s reputation, and all she wants to do is play tennis。 Her independence is one of my favorite things about her along with her ability to know what she wants。 This book tugs at the heartstrings, has a great plot, and flows wonderfully。 Dean aced this book in every way possible 。。。more

The spinoff of the Pepper Jones series is off to a fantastic start! Jude is the perfect combo of his parents, albeit a little swayed towards his dad, but who doesn't love a little more Jace in the world! Even with that fan club head start, Jude will get a run for his money as readers will immediately fall for Karis and her determination to make her own life, regardless of the obstacles she was born with。 Although it's a bit evil to end the book the way she did, Ali has made it impossible to wait The spinoff of the Pepper Jones series is off to a fantastic start! I was definitely very excited to read this new series starter, a "next generation" series with Pepper Jones and Jace Wilder's son Jude as the hero。 Pepper and Jace's series were the first books I read by this author and have always had a special place in my heart。 This new series definitely stands alone but I cannot deny the cameo appearances by Pepper, Jace, and dear Bunny give me a warm glow。 Tennis is one of my favorite sports and though there is nowhere near as much sports talk in this book I was definitely very excited to read this new series starter, a "next generation" series with Pepper Jones and Jace Wilder's son Jude as the hero。 Pepper and Jace's series were the first books I read by this author and have always had a special place in my heart。 This new series definitely stands alone but I cannot deny the cameo appearances by Pepper, Jace, and dear Bunny give me a warm glow。 Tennis is one of my favorite sports and though there is nowhere near as much sports talk in this book as the original series I still love that the heroine, Karis, is a strong tennis player and that that is a driving part of the plot。 The storyline with her family fills me with dread, it is along the lines of one of the types of things I dislike reading or watching about just because of the strong feelings those stories evoke in me。 I was a little bit concerned about the insta-attraction between them but by the end of the first book I was sold on their connection。 It's hard to classify this kind of book for me, as it is far and away tamer than what I usually read and gravitate towards, and is the kind of book that was called YA when I was young, and that I read in late elementary/early junior high, but does not fit into what is commonly considered YA currently。 No matter how others classify it, I found it a wonderful palate cleanser following my more typical dark reads, a pretty quick read that ends on a cliffhanger of sorts so definitely looking forward to more, and seeing their relationship develop。 Definitely hoping for more of Karis spending time with his family too。 。。。more

I really wanted to love this one, but ugh。 One character lets family mistakes dictate their whole life, and the other is so "family focused" their irritatingly judgmental。 Both of them change their minds on a dime, with very little reason, and sexual tension is frustrating, not satisfying。 They're teens, I get it。 They're kinda dumb and have tunnel vision, but I just found them both annoying in this book。 It's still well written, as is everything from Ali, which is the only reason I didn't rate I really wanted to love this one, but ugh。 One character lets family mistakes dictate their whole life, and the other is so "family focused" their irritatingly judgmental。 Both of them change their minds on a dime, with very little reason, and sexual tension is frustrating, not satisfying。 They're teens, I get it。 They're kinda dumb and have tunnel vision, but I just found them both annoying in this book。 It's still well written, as is everything from Ali, which is the only reason I didn't rate this one lower。 My hopes are that the next in the series will offer us more than this。 Preferably some depth and growth。 。。。more
