Summary

As a daughter of the Dragon Court, Wren knows three truths: never show weakness, pay the tithe, and never trust the elves。

When the enemy strikes on the eve of her wedding, Wren has no choice but to fight。 Captured, she's dragged before the elvish king and given two choices。

Death or marriage。

She submits, biding her time as she plots and spies, determined to strike at the heart of the elvish royalty and take back her family's throne once more。 But the more time she spends with her dangerous and achingly handsome husband, she finds herself wavering。

Only the strong survive the hash moors of the Dragon Isles, and she can't afford to question her loyalties, leaving only one final choice。

Strike hard and fast。 Never waver。 It's his heart or hers。

A Court of Dragons is the first book in a new fantasy romance series, inspired by the tales of Beauty and the Beast with Reylo viking vibes。 It's perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash, A Deal with The Elf King, and The Bridge Kingdom。 If you're looking for enemies to lovers with a delicious slow burn romance, scroll up and read now!

While I do love me some dark, spicy books I also cannot get enough of Frost Kay’s books and her new Dragons Isles series will surely not disappoint。 If you loved Aermian Fueds (which is one of my faves) you will love this book and have high hopes for the series。 Obviously our main female character Wren is a bad ass, but what I loved most about her was her resilience and her sacrifice。 Early on she puts herself last for her kingdom and her seven year old sister。 And Arrik is no slouch- from the g While I do love me some dark, spicy books I also cannot get enough of Frost Kay’s books and her new Dragons Isles series will surely not disappoint。 If you loved Aermian Fueds (which is one of my faves) you will love this book and have high hopes for the series。 Obviously our main female character Wren is a bad ass, but what I loved most about her was her resilience and her sacrifice。 Early on she puts herself last for her kingdom and her seven year old sister。 And Arrik is no slouch- from the get go he hates his position as the bastard born but favorite son and works to prove himself worthy。 This book sets up nicely for the rest of the series- I eagerly await book 2!! 。。。more

The writing was very amateurish and the romance actually felt Instalove (from Arrik's side) Either I expected more from the book based on the synopsis or I have been lucky this year to read some solid fantasy romances, but this book just didn't meet the mark for me and I sadly DNF it。 The writing was very amateurish and the romance actually felt Instalove (from Arrik's side) Either I expected more from the book based on the synopsis or I have been lucky this year to read some solid fantasy romances, but this book just didn't meet the mark for me and I sadly DNF it。 。。。more

I absolutely loved reading this and already can’t wait for the release of the second book in the series, especially after that ending! A fantasy romance with themes of enemies to lovers, bitter hatreds and forced marriages, to name but a few。 While the characters need some time to flesh out, this action packed story is off to a good start for a new series。 Political intrigues, rules to live by and truths not necessary true not only give the twist that is needed to set up the next one in the series, but start the question of why。

What a ride! Frost Kay, as per usual, does an amazing job of roping you into her new fantasy world full of dragons, grey characters, a strong heroine, emotional roller coasters and unexpected twists。 Arrik is no knight in shining armor but by the end he'll make you swoon a little。 Wren is strong, stubborn and smart and she's met her match in Arrik。 Now the chase is on and I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what new surprise will get me next。 What a ride! Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC of this book via Book Of Matches Media in exchange for an honest review。- this review contains spoilers -I'm a sucker for books with pretty covers - especially when the plot is interesting - and this book was a great example of that。 This is the main reason why I was left unsatisfied at the end。I think this book had far more potential in it that Frost didn’t utilize。 I really wanted to know more about the world, the elves, the Dragon Isles & Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC of this book via Book Of Matches Media in exchange for an honest review。- this review contains spoilers -I'm a sucker for books with pretty covers - especially when the plot is interesting - and this book was a great example of that。 This is the main reason why I was left unsatisfied at the end。I think this book had far more potential in it that Frost didn’t utilize。 I really wanted to know more about the world, the elves, the Dragon Isles & overall about everything。 The most important things were only mentioned, I didn’t even know where I was at times。 Everything happened either too fast without explanation, or too slow, to the point I was bored。I was expecting a dragon army, a badass main character and an enemies to lovers storyline。 I got none of that。 Dragons were only mentioned, or got killed in the first 50 pages。 And then all of the sudden, a random dragon appears in Wren’s cell from an underwater tunnel - I couldn’t even imagine how that looked like and what the cell’s layout was btw – but like, EXCUSE ME??? I would like to know more about that! And the guy in the other cell? He was USELESS。 He was there for one, and only one reason: to make me mad。 And oh, don't even get me started on the prince。 He had the most personality out of all the characters, yet he was still boring。 His intentions weren’t detailed at all, it felt like he was a different person in every page。Over all this wasn’t a bad book, but I wanted to love it, and wanted more。 。。。more

Court of Dragons was an enchanting read!Wren is a strong, fierce and feisty FMC。 She has been through so much and lost so much and when faced with a choice of marriage to her enemy or death, she chooses marriage。 This is an incredible story with a few twists and turns and I devoured the book in one day。 This is great for people who like fantasy romance with enemies to lovers, dragons and elves。 I look forward to reading the next book!

Also dragons! Cant wait to have more dragons! Also those twists, Frost is so good at giving us those twists that we don't expect and I love it。 I mean of course I want to know what happens next and cannot wait for the rest of the series but it takes。 a lot to surprise me and she always seems to do it so well!Happy reading! 。。。more

I don't normally like fantasy that has much in the way of politics as a plot driver, but I swear Frost Kay somehow always makes it so juicy in a truly enjoyable way。 This story was fast paced, lots of action, a swoon worthy love interest and had a strong female lead。 I also appreciated the neurodivergent representation in this。 I seriously can't wait for book 2! Court of Dragons has everything I love in a fantasy romance book, enemies to lovers, forced marriage, and elves。 Frost Kay is not joking around when it comes to how action-packed and fast-paced this book is。 Court of Dragons feels a bit more like a dark fantasy book as it deals with some darker themes, betrayals, political intrigue, and of course a dash of romance。 I do wish there had been a bit more character and world development in the book。 I think that the book is so action-packed and fille Court of Dragons has everything I love in a fantasy romance book, enemies to lovers, forced marriage, and elves。 Frost Kay is not joking around when it comes to how action-packed and fast-paced this book is。 Court of Dragons feels a bit more like a dark fantasy book as it deals with some darker themes, betrayals, political intrigue, and of course a dash of romance。 I do wish there had been a bit more character and world development in the book。 I think that the book is so action-packed and filled with political intrigue that the characters and world did not have a chance to truly develop。 Arrik is definitely a bit more developed than Wren as readers seem to get more insight into his character。 Lovers of ruthless, morally grey, Kylo Ren-type characters will quickly fall in love with him。 Wren is fierce, loyal, and not afraid to fight anyone who threatens her world。 Their relationship is off to a bit of a rocky start and I am excited for their story to progress as there is definite chemistry。 If you have read any book by Frost Kay, then you know she loves to leave readers with a cliffhanger ending that always throws a wild twist at you that leaves your mind reeling。 I cannot wait for the next book in this series。 Overall, Court of Dragons is a great start to a series that has the potential to be epic。 。。。more

Frost Kay has taken us to her new fantastical world in Court of Dragons, it's filled with dragons and adventures with deadly enemies that are just around the corner。 This story has a strong female lead, a morally gray potential love interest, and an entertaining plot that I highly enjoyed。Wren is a princess from the Dragon Isles, Lorne, a place where women are equal to men, have fierce warriors, and ride dragons。 They are passionate, good people who are ruled by a compassionate king。 Wren is the Frost Kay has taken us to her new fantastical world in Court of Dragons, it's filled with dragons and adventures with deadly enemies that are just around the corner。 This story has a strong female lead, a morally gray potential love interest, and an entertaining plot that I highly enjoyed。Wren is a princess from the Dragon Isles, Lorne, a place where women are equal to men, have fierce warriors, and ride dragons。 They are passionate, good people who are ruled by a compassionate king。 Wren is the daughter of the king, a man who raised her to be a strong warrior along with her mother who trained her on how to use her head and how to communicate with dragons。 Wren is strong, brave, and stubborn, she had a happy life but it came to an end when the Elves invade and tore her world apart。Among the invaders is the bastard prince, Arrick, who is known as the Beast of Verlantain, he is King Soren's best weapon。 Conquering whatever land he is pointed to。 However the Elves aren't kind people, the Court is a cruel place especially for Arrick, and is ruled by an even crueler King。 Arrick keeps his feelings locked uptight, it's the only way to survive his father's Court and his own family but Wren who is so different from his own people is sparking something in him。 Arrick is very complex, he kills and conquers but does so on his father's behalf, he appears cold but has so much feeling that he cannot show。 He seems out of step with the rest of his people and it has me questioning a few things。Something is happening between Arrick and Wren, something that she doesn't want and something that he can not have。 I will admit the couple seems like they fit if it wasn't for the fact that he is the destruction of her kingdom and the death of her family。 I honestly don't know how Frost is gonna make this work between them but I'm interested in finding out。The Elves for the most part don't seem like good people, sure there are exceptions but the Court is a dangerous place, a place where Wren can't trust anyone。 It's hard to know if the people are really that bad or if it's due to the cutthroat environment they're in and the king that leads them。 As for the king, he has his plans, but Wren and Arrick have plans too。 All three are playing a dangerous game and it looks like whoever wins, wins it all。 Soren is too confident, Wren has nothing left to lose (well, maybe one thing) and Arrick wants to remove a threat。 Here is to hoping Wren manages to come out on top。 Court of Dragons is a dual perspective enemies-to-lovers fantasy that has complex characters and is filled with danger。 The story starts at a brutal pace and just keeps going。 The ending was one wild ride that was quite surprising。 The invasion was just the beginning, I wonder what will happen next。 。。。more

I think Frost Kay is a completely underrated author。 There is honestly not one book I have read by her that I did not love。 Court of Dragons is not an exception。 Frost isn't a stranger to writing gut wrenching scenes however this is the first book I have read where the first 30% tosses you right into the deep end。 My reaction the entire book varied from shocked to heartbroken to quite possibly having a little faith in Wrens life。 This book is great for people who like the arranged marriage trope I think Frost Kay is a completely underrated author。 There is honestly not one book I have read by her that I did not love。 Court of Dragons is not an exception。 Frost isn't a stranger to writing gut wrenching scenes however this is the first book I have read where the first 30% tosses you right into the deep end。 My reaction the entire book varied from shocked to heartbroken to quite possibly having a little faith in Wrens life。 This book is great for people who like the arranged marriage trope and enemies to lovers。 I don't want to give anything away however I will say that in this first book the romance is not a big part (if any) at all, but its 100% worth the read because you can tell something is coming and the way that the two MCs thoughts go makes you think what would happen if they could just open up and talk to each other。 They will be a powerhouse。 I know there is a ton of world building and character building in this book so I can not wait for the next one to come out because I think there is A LOT more to this story。 Like A LOT A LOT。 I have some suspicions。ANYWAYS 100% recommend this book and any other book Frost has written especially the Aermian Feuds books!Anyways 。。。more

Just as the book has one superb cover, it has one intriguing plot too and I was glued from the very first page。 It’s well written and moves flawlessly with twists and turns。 I love the main characters Wren & Arrik, the banter between them is enjoyable。 All the snarky comments are excellent in their own way。The story starts with a heartfelt conversation between a mother and a daughter。 I’m such a big fan of DRAGONS that when they are introduced I go all overboard in the story。 The visualization o Just as the book has one superb cover, it has one intriguing plot too and I was glued from the very first page。 It’s well written and moves flawlessly with twists and turns。 I love the main characters Wren & Arrik, the banter between them is enjoyable。 All the snarky comments are excellent in their own way。The story starts with a heartfelt conversation between a mother and a daughter。 I’m such a big fan of DRAGONS that when they are introduced I go all overboard in the story。 The visualization of the plot is perfectly explained which makes it comfortable to read。 Wren is so strong-willed and her character develops beautifully。 She suffers so much loss when her small kingdom is attacked by elf’s but she has to show all the strength she can muster up to take charge and do what was needed at that time。 Inspite of all the negativity I liked Arrik a lot, his character is so much more than just an elf prince who attacked Wren’s kingdom and was the reason behind all the darkness。 His character is all the brains and swoon-worthy physique。 There is an arranged marriage plot too, which you’ll get to know when you’ll read the book。 It’s a worthy read and my fav part of the story is when Wren & Arrik meet for the first time。 Frost Kay wrote so well and the story is woven from a single thread。 I’m already thinking about what can happen next and excited for the second book, whenever we get that。 。。。more
