This is a great cookbook。 It has recipes that taste great and are easy to make。 My favorite is the fudgy chocolate mug cakes。

Best cookbook for kids。As a 4-H informal educator, I am always researching for good educational resources。 This cookbook is a great culinary resource for kids 10-14。 The recipes are super kid friendly and in-depth information to spark youth’s curiosity and knowledge。 I plan to incorporate some of the recipes in my kids cooking and nutrition programs。

This is the perfect introduction to cooking for young chefs。 The banana bread and chocolate chip cookie recipes were very good! I haven't tried many of the recipes, but this cookbook is very visually appealing and fun to look through, with a variety of meals / dishes to make。 This is the perfect introduction to cooking for young chefs。 The banana bread and chocolate chip cookie recipes were very good! My daughter who is 10, saved up and bought this forherself。 It was one of two Kids cookbooks she bought。 She gives it a solid 5/5 stars, and I gave it 4。5 Stars。 Full review to follow below。。。。My youngest daughter at the age of 10 loves cooking and cooking shows。 She saved up her own money and purchased herself two cookbooks, this one and Kid in the Kitchen: 100 Recipes and Tips for Young Home Cooks by Melissa Clark。 This one arrived second and she was already enthralled with the other。 She has My daughter who is 10, saved up and bought this forherself。 It was one of two Kids cookbooks she bought。 She gives it a solid 5/5 stars, and I gave it 4。5 Stars。 Full review to follow below。。。。My youngest daughter at the age of 10 loves cooking and cooking shows。 She saved up her own money and purchased herself two cookbooks, this one and Kid in the Kitchen: 100 Recipes and Tips for Young Home Cooks by Melissa Clark。 This one arrived second and she was already enthralled with the other。 She has carried them around the house for days, put in sticky note tabs for recipes she wanted to try。 But more on that later。This is another beautiful cookbook。 Full color pages, but not full glossy pages。。 The paper is not as heavy a weight as the other volume。 It has a very solid binding。 It is well designed and made。 It is a great book to flip through and get ideas from。 Or to plan whole meals。 The chapters in the volume are:Getting Started in the KitchenBreakfastSnacks & BeveragesCooking for YouCooking for Family & FriendsSides that Make the MealDessertsConversions & EquivalentsHealthy Eating 101Recipe StatsIndexThe description of the volume is:“For the first time ever, America's Test Kitchen is bringing their scientific know-how, rigorous testing, and hands-on learning to KIDS in the kitchen!Using kid-tested and approved recipes, America's Test Kitchen has created THE cookbook every kid chef needs on their shelf。 Whether you're cooking for yourself, your friends, or your family, The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs has delicious recipes that will wow! • Recipes were thoroughly tested by more than 750 kids to get them just right for cooks of all skill levels―including recipes for breakfast, snacks and beverages, dinners, desserts, and more。 • Step-by-step photos of tips and techniques will help young chefs feel like pros in their own kitchen • Testimonials (and even some product reviews!) from kid test cooks who worked alongside America's Test Kitchen will encourage young chefs that they truly are learning the best recipes from the best cooks。By empowering young chefs to make their own choices in the kitchen, America's Test Kitchen is building a new generation of confident cooks, engaged eaters, and curious experimenters。”We have picked several recipes from this volume to test and try。 My wife has done a few recipes from America’s Test Kitchen that have all been big hits。 I have done a few as well, always to great success。 My daughter loves both of her new cookbooks。 She prefers the other volume, Kid in the Kitchen: 100 Recipes and Tips for Young Home Cooks by Melissa Clark。 Because it is glossier and shinier。 I prefer this volume。 The meals are easier。 The ingredients less diverse。 The meals are well defined and explained。 This is an excellent cookbook for children and those cooking with them。 It is one we will be using for years to come。An excellent cookbook for younger aspiring chefs。 A great place to start。 Melissa has contributed to or written over 50 books related to food。 And this one is a good one for working with younger children, or letting older children experiment on their own。 。。。more

If not: Fortunately I have a microwave that's already on its last legs, and a replacement ready to go, so I can try it and get back to you。reading for Children's Books "cookbooks" theme, Dec。 2020Love the thorough beginning。 If one has the patience to read all that, one is ready to work in the kitchen with minimal supervision。I am a little disturbed by them claiming that blender, food processor, electric mixer, whisk, wooden spoon are all staples。。。 I have none of the above, and seldom use my immersion blender。 A good strong arm is whisk enough for me。 The staples that I use are medium size knife, slotted and solid metal spoons, and toaster oven。The recipes also have a list of equipment needed, down to the plate and fork sometimes (for the waffles, as the fork used to get them out, and the plate to pile the batches)。 I never heard of "heat (oil) until shimmer" as I always test it with a flick of a drop of water。 Shimmer would be safer I suppose。I won't read every recipe, but I'm intrigued by the recommendation to lightly toast bread before soaking it in egg to make French Toast。 I will def。 try that next time。Included is how to microwave popcorn in a brown lunch bag。。。 a wonderful thing more people should know how to do for such improved health and cost。Haas avocados, the wrinkly dark ones, are for guacomole, but the big bright ones are for salad。 Store them in refrigerator (even though Costco doesn't)。I need to photo the instructional images about how to get ginger from the root as I usually buy the minced squeeze tube。 Basically use the edge of a small spoon to scrape off skin, then grate the exposed section。Recycle stale bread for croutons。 I usually make dressing (stuffing) but some ppl in my family do like croutons and it does seem silly to buy them。If you measure, you can cook the pasta in the sauce。 I do this sort of thing with rices sometimes, so why not。"Velvet" strips or bits of meat (to keep moist and tender) with 6:1 cornstarch:baking soda, as in beef & broccoli stir-fry。I disagree with them on thawing frozen strawberries on paper towels。。。 save the juice!! 。。。more

The cookbook was written for kids, but still learned quite a lot as an adult and beginner chef, like how to cook green beans etc。 Recipe is quite simple for an adult, so would be a fun project to cook with children。

Checked this out for the kiddos。 As a mom, I appreciate the easy to follow instructions, kitchen tips, and pictures。 Simple without being condescending, this would be a good starting cookbook for anyone without a lot of kitchen experience。 Nice range of recipes。

It's a great book for tweens and those who are really beginners at cooking。 Everything is broken down and all the recipes are superbly explained and illustrated。 I love that there are kids who some are aged 10, writing what they really thought of the recipe。 I wanted to see what was good for a ten year old and what recipes would be perfect and not too hard for that age range。 If all goes well, I might buy the book and gift it to them。 Thankfully, they don't read my Goodreads reviews and won't kn It's a great book for tweens and those who are really beginners at cooking。 Everything is broken down and all the recipes are superbly explained and illustrated。 I love that there are kids who some are aged 10, writing what they really thought of the recipe。 I wanted to see what was good for a ten year old and what recipes would be perfect and not too hard for that age range。 If all goes well, I might buy the book and gift it to them。 Thankfully, they don't read my Goodreads reviews and won't know about this gift。 ;) 。。。more

Get the kids away from their screens and into the kitchen with this cookbook perfect for young home chefs。 Whether they are beginners or more advanced, this book will introduce them to kitchen vocabulary, kitchen tools, kitchen safety, including how to use a knife, as well as all the other tools of the trade。 There's everything they will need to know to make delicious meals and snacks。 And there is nothing so rewarding as cooking a new favorite meal for the family。 I gave this book to one of my Get the kids away from their screens and into the kitchen with this cookbook perfect for young home chefs。 Whether they are beginners or more advanced, this book will introduce them to kitchen vocabulary, kitchen tools, kitchen safety, including how to use a knife, as well as all the other tools of the trade。 There's everything they will need to know to make delicious meals and snacks。 And there is nothing so rewarding as cooking a new favorite meal for the family。 I gave this book to one of my nieces when she came to stay with me for the summer, and as we worked our way through it, we really got to know each other some much better while working in the kitchen。 So much so, that I think my Kiddo got a little jealous。 The solution - I put her and my niece in the kitchen together。 The talking, the laughing, the delicious food was well-worth it。 And the bonus is that cooking can help kids with their math thanks to the measuring they have to do。 I loved it when the light went on my niece's eyes the day the measuring cups and spoons made fractions more understandable (she was only 8 at the time and not a math fan)。 Our favorite recipes: monkey bread, pesto flatbread pizza, beef and bean chili, among others。 Pair The Complete Cookbook for Young Chefs with its companion book The Complete Baking Book for Young Chefs, because what's a great meal without a great dessert? 。。。more

I really like this book because the recipes have common ingredients, and the food tastes good。 The beginning of the book has "7 Essential Prep Steps"on page 12-15。 Most of us know these steps, but it was a good refresher before we try to show a young chef how to separate eggs or soften butter in the microwave。 I made the Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies on page 184, and sent the recipe with ingredients to my grandchildren in Minnesota。 The bake time is 15-20 minutes, and I would recommend baking 15 I really like this book because the recipes have common ingredients, and the food tastes good。 The beginning of the book has "7 Essential Prep Steps"on page 12-15。 Most of us know these steps, but it was a good refresher before we try to show a young chef how to separate eggs or soften butter in the microwave。 I made the Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies on page 184, and sent the recipe with ingredients to my grandchildren in Minnesota。 The bake time is 15-20 minutes, and I would recommend baking 15 minutes。 The Blondie Bites on Page 190 were even better than the cookies。 I didn't have white chocolate chips so I chopped up a bar of white chocolate。 These were a big hit! Again, I would recommend less time in the oven (14 rather than 16 minutes), and a lower temperature if you are using a dark pan。 。。。more

There is nothing more empowering for a child than learning an important life skill (like cooking) from their parents。 This was not a skill that as a child or teenager that I thought was important and I suffered for this when I left my childhood home to live on my own。 Eating five minute rice and breakfast sausages for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the first year of University was not pleasant and I am determined for my boys not to be the same。This hardcover book is packed full of not only reci There is nothing more empowering for a child than learning an important life skill (like cooking) from their parents。 This was not a skill that as a child or teenager that I thought was important and I suffered for this when I left my childhood home to live on my own。 Eating five minute rice and breakfast sausages for breakfast, lunch and dinner for the first year of University was not pleasant and I am determined for my boys not to be the same。This hardcover book is packed full of not only recipes but also an introduction to the kitchen (measuring, prep-work, tools, etc。。) and healthy eating and how to read recipe and nutrition labels (calories, macro and micro nutrients)。 This is very important for young children (and some adults!) as they begin to learn their way around the kitchen and get comfortable with new words, labeling and instructions。 Plus they let you know that mistakes are okay, how many of us have started to make something in the kitchen only for it to turn into a disaster? It is so important for young ones starting out that they know that this is normal and happens to everyone。 I know that I have created several desserts and dinners that have needed to go straight into the green bin。I loved how the book was divided up into sections, making it easy for you to find recipes and jump back and forth。 Each recipe comes with its own coding for beginner, intermediate and advanced and also if it requires the use of a knife, stove top。 Each recipe comes with either a photo of the finished product or multiple photos showing the steps along the way (featuring children – not adults!)。 We found that this helped us decide on what we wanted to try out first, some of the final photos looked too delicious for words! The font, colours and instructions are well geared to children and teens。 They should have no problem following along with the instructions。This is an excellent resource for young children as they start out in the kitchen, with a good variety of recipes that will suit the needs of even the pickiest eater in the house。 。。。more
