Summary

Nearly everything in Gregory’s life had changed by the end of his first year at the academy。 Alone at the start of his novice year, he’d gotten engaged to Yukiko Warlin and found a friend in Jenn Bean by the time the annual tournament was over。

The three of them went on to join Aether’s Guard, bringing the name of the nearly dead clan back to life。 Elder Lightshield, the leader of Aether’s Guard, gave them his support and backing and Magus Dia guided them。 Their training with Armsmaster Gin continued, offering a safe haven and helping to shield them from the worst tribulations that academy life could bring。

Nothing is perfect, though。 Gregory, Yukiko, and Jenn had also made enemies, and faced resentment and anger from the Eternal Flame clan more than once。 Weathering the troubles that Nick Shun and his friends tried to bring down on them, the three magi rose to ever greater heights。

Gregory’s second tournament included the unexpected, but welcome, arrival of Carmichael Pettit, as well as a mysterious bet between Jenn and Yukiko。 At the end of the tournament, Jenn had bested Yukiko and Gregory, and the three of them held three of the top four places。

With both of their families in attendance, Gregory and Yukiko wed after the tournament。 The newlywed couple would face the academy and the world as one, and with their friends and their clan, they would strive to be at the pinnacle of their class once more。

Magi’s pathThis was a fun read。 Like a Harry Potter except on lots of hormones。 Very much the underdog wanting to save everyone。

No thanks, started great and ended up being a bait and switch harem。

While overall I liked the book, I feel it was not quite as entertaining as the prior books in the series。 It got off to a slow start (about the first 30 percent) and there was too much time devoted to Empire's Gambit。 While overall I liked the book, I feel it was not quite as entertaining as the prior books in the series。 It got off to a slow start (about the first 30 percent) and there was too much time devoted to Empire's Gambit。 。。。more

Harem。 Avoid Could have cut in half if he left out the harem and blushing。 Didn’t add anything to the story。 Would have been passable without it。 Seriously, this book would be decent if MC didn’t have a wife at all, let alone two with obvious overtones to 5 or 6 more。Reads like a horn ball 14 yr fantasy。Really turned me off from this series。

That Schinhofen hasn't brought the absolute smack down on Shun and Eternal Flame yet is devastating。 The antagonism pointing back in these aggressors direction is the equivalent of recurrent mosquito bites 😒 。。。more

Very good storyJust the right amount of drama, action, intrigue, romance。 Has kept my attention and looking forward to book 4。 The characters are easy to get to know, which is important。 Aside from the three main characters, the others are also well fleshed out。

A solidly written continuation of the series。 Book 3 continues on what the first books have laid out。 The second year for Gregory and his wives is a series of growth and challenges to overcome。 Solid writing, and a reasonably engaging plotline。 Again, theres nothing groundbreaking here, but it's a decent use of the tropes and plot。 No further expansion directly of the harem aspect, however there are several clear leanings in that direction。 A solidly written continuation of the series。 Book 3 continues on what the first books have laid out。 The second year for Gregory and his wives is a series of growth and challenges to overcome。 Solid writing, and a reasonably engaging plotline。 Again, theres nothing groundbreaking here, but it's a decent use of the tropes and plot。 No further expansion directly of the harem aspect, however there are several clear leanings in that direction。 。。。more

Is this subliminal propaganda for communism? Where everything is shared with everyone?Someone else summed it up to basically wake up, meditate, gambit, train, sleep, rinse and repeat。 I know cultivation fantasy is your usual Chinese repetitive bullshit but this was terrible。 Expected more from this author。

As we continue the adventure of Gregory Pettit…Has good character building, and in fact good characters building other good characters。Not so good: not as much action/fights in this boom as some of his other books, I thought it was still good though

Superb saga!Had problems putting the book down , and was bummed out hitting the end。。。 Sure there's a harem subplot, but its so well worked into。the story that it doesnt distract。。。Otherwise great character development overall。 MC might be a bit of an overpowered demi god but I'll allow it。 Cant wait for the next one。 Superb saga!Had problems putting the book down , and was bummed out hitting the end。。。 Sure there's a harem subplot, but its so well worked into。the story that it doesnt distract。。。Otherwise great character development overall。 MC might be a bit of an overpowered demi god but I'll allow it。 Cant wait for the next one。 。。。more

Was goodI like plot was decent characters were good and the book remained interesting but the thing that made me give 4 star is the multi wife things, it seemed unnecessary but at the end of the day it didn't interfere with the plot so its fine Was goodI like plot was decent characters were good and the book remained interesting but the thing that made me give 4 star is the multi wife things, it seemed unnecessary but at the end of the day it didn't interfere with the plot so its fine 。。。more

Awesome but just a few comments Story continues with MC & friends progressing with their magi studies。 Similar format as the story revolves around the school year followed by a tournament at the end。 Characters are solid。 The world is interesting and has a beautiful culture。 Although the series is still relatively new, I can see the potential of the story going into a very long one with wars, campaigns, love and destiny。 I do want to say at least 25% of the book was redundant or excessively deta Awesome but just a few comments Story continues with MC & friends progressing with their magi studies。 Similar format as the story revolves around the school year followed by a tournament at the end。 Characters are solid。 The world is interesting and has a beautiful culture。 Although the series is still relatively new, I can see the potential of the story going into a very long one with wars, campaigns, love and destiny。 I do want to say at least 25% of the book was redundant or excessively detailed; it could have easily been reduced to a few sentences。 We don’t need to know the MC’s daily activities if they are so similar to one day and the next。 I also want to explore the world more。 It’s unfortunate that the setting never really changes—it’s all in one town for the most part。 I want to learn more about the world, its history, places, and people。 The story can feel too micro sometimes。 。。。more

A great series which is off to a great startDang, book three was as good as the first two。 Can see another 7 books easily for this storyline with so many adventures hinted at through out the pages。 Thank you to the author for such rich and creative storytelling 。

Well Worth Reading Schinhofen takes the time to bring his characters to life, plus using some good action magic, and some other types of action as well, hehe。Hopefully Book Four is coming soon。

This will be a though one。。。As the 3 stars say: I liked itWhat is it that I do like:- The world building seems good- The magic system seems interesting- Some characters seems interesting alsoWhat is it that I do NOT like:- Notice that I've used "seems" a lot in the things I like。。。 yep, not enough development to know。。。- Characters are uni-dimensional, they are good or bad。。。 There is one case where a bad guy now seems like a not so bad guy anymore。。。 Everybody else is either perfectly good or e This will be a though one。。。As the 3 stars say: I liked itWhat is it that I do like:- The world building seems good- The magic system seems interesting- Some characters seems interesting alsoWhat is it that I do NOT like:- Notice that I've used "seems" a lot in the things I like。。。 yep, not enough development to know。。。- Characters are uni-dimensional, they are good or bad。。。 There is one case where a bad guy now seems like a not so bad guy anymore。。。 Everybody else is either perfectly good or extremely bad。。。- The number of pages is a lie, 30% of all the pages are just characters flattering themselves or their friends。。。 It seems like the author is trying to create character connection through flattery and it is really annoying and childish。。。- Another 15% is awkward explicit content that adds absolutely nothing to the plot, would actually be better if it was Fade to Black- 50% of the book is about absolutely wasting time (my time)。 Characters go to the library, go to class, meditate, practice, sleep, go to library, go to class, meditate, practice, sleep, go to library, go to class, practice, sleep。。。 (hopefully you've got the point by now)- 5% is about using what was learned in the 50%, which means real action。。。- The action is pretty straightforward, there are absolutely no twists。。。- Pacing: This is the 3rd book, and sorry to tell this but nothing significant happens。。。 It's pretty straighforward, go to school, learn, get bullied, apply yourself, became better than everybody else, hints of a mystery surrounding MC。。。 I thought that by book 3 a lot more should've happened 。。。more

I have really enjoyed this series up to this point, but this book started to wear on me a little。 It's essentially a repeat of the first two novels, just with more characters to focus on that I just don't care about。 The first book got me invested in the main character and a few others, and from that point on I was interested in their progression。 However, at least half of this novel is given over to introducing new characters and repeating the new student growth formula rather than focusing on I have really enjoyed this series up to this point, but this book started to wear on me a little。 It's essentially a repeat of the first two novels, just with more characters to focus on that I just don't care about。 The first book got me invested in the main character and a few others, and from that point on I was interested in their progression。 However, at least half of this novel is given over to introducing new characters and repeating the new student growth formula rather than focusing on the main character and the overarching story。 As a result, this book felt formulaic and boring。 To make matters worse, I suspect that the only reason that this book exists is so that the author can quickly bump up the main character's harem。 That is frustrating to me because that harem element is a touch of spice to the series, it is not the main course。 Focusing on it too much is ignoring the important part of the story that I came for and overdoing an element that doesn't need to be so prominent。 Overall it's a disappointing 3-stars for this one。 I'm looking for a shakeup to the formula and some genuine character and plot progression in the next story or I will be parting ways with this series。 。。。more

A bit boringNow if only there was more conflict to offset the empire's gambit。 By more conflict I mean more fighting。 It this book it was mostly just talking and training。 I do like the harem aspect of this series as I unknowingly picked this up from Kindle unlimited recommendations。 But no relationship is as easy as Gregory's and his wives。 There should be arguments。 They are all human beings even if they are part eurtlik。 And human beings argue。 They fight。 They become jealous。 They have a ran A bit boringNow if only there was more conflict to offset the empire's gambit。 By more conflict I mean more fighting。 It this book it was mostly just talking and training。 I do like the harem aspect of this series as I unknowingly picked this up from Kindle unlimited recommendations。 But no relationship is as easy as Gregory's and his wives。 There should be arguments。 They are all human beings even if they are part eurtlik。 And human beings argue。 They fight。 They become jealous。 They have a range of feelings which if included in this series would make it an even more interesting and enjoyable experience。 Also please stop explaining everything before and after it happens。 Or explain it in a few words rather than explaining using long paragraphs after paragraphs of exposition。 It leaves nothing to the viewers imagination。 The harem aspect is good in the sense that I am looking forward to who joins Gregory's band of merry wives。 Even Gregory's and darkness's relationship is something to look forward to given the fact that she has not shown herself and is merely helping Greg and others。 I will wait and see how this develops。 。。。more

Great addition to a great seriesIf you’re a fan of the series you won’t be disappointed。 Daniel’s stories are very different from what I usually read, lacking a clear antagonist, but he always keeps me interested and wanting to know。 On that note I hope he starts to shed more light on the life of Aether。 It would have been the very first book I asked the Archive for。 How did he die, how many wives did he have, what were his powers, 。。。。。

Was good until the haremVery little progression happens。 Afew circles filled but nothing new。Greg is suppose to be a nodachi master but it barely helps in the fights。The harem part nearly made me give up on the book。 I hope the author tones it down alot。
