The Christmas Cards was heartwarming and had a lot of heart。 The characters had strength and depth no matter what they were faced with and there was unfortunately an abundance of heartache。 This is Lucy's story and ultimately showed her choice of persevering even when adversity struck。 We get to know Lucy and the other characters a little at a time especially her grieving in-laws and a neighbor, Andy who has his own troubles to overcome。 Andy and Lucy have a caring friendship and I liked how he The Christmas Cards was heartwarming and had a lot of heart。 The characters had strength and depth no matter what they were faced with and there was unfortunately an abundance of heartache。 This is Lucy's story and ultimately showed her choice of persevering even when adversity struck。 We get to know Lucy and the other characters a little at a time especially her grieving in-laws and a neighbor, Andy who has his own troubles to overcome。 Andy and Lucy have a caring friendship and I liked how he secretly boosted her spirits even though she originally thought the gifts were from someone else。The story had a good flow along with some twists and turns as we're immersed in their lives and see the importance of their faith。 There was some divisiveness in the different families and Lucy's old school friend, Thomas, was a difficult character to like。 There were vivid scenic descriptions that made me feel like I was there。 There is some closure but I would have loved the book to continue on a little longer。 I liked the titles given to each chapter。 The cover was very apropos and the title was spot on。Ms。 Price has been on my radar but I haven't read her books before。 I look forward to reading more of them and have added some to my always growing TBR pile。I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review。 。。。more

The Christmas Cards is a delightful series of a young lady who has lost her husband in a tragic accident and is grieving her loss。 The story takes place in a Amish Community setting in which she receives some Christmas cards from an unknown source。 The cards are delivered anonymously and left on her doormat。 She mistakenly thinks that they were made by her husband before his death。 When she realizes the mistake she thinks that it is a very mean thing。 I recommend reading it to find out the real The Christmas Cards is a delightful series of a young lady who has lost her husband in a tragic accident and is grieving her loss。 The story takes place in a Amish Community setting in which she receives some Christmas cards from an unknown source。 The cards are delivered anonymously and left on her doormat。 She mistakenly thinks that they were made by her husband before his death。 When she realizes the mistake she thinks that it is a very mean thing。 I recommend reading it to find out the real reason the cards have be left。 。。。more

Sylvia Price has written a sweet Amish story about love, loss and second chances。 Both Andy and Lucy have lost something very precious that has left them reeling。 Each is struggling to imagine and navigate a future which is difficult and causes some miscommunication。 The story is very poignant and pulls at your heartstrings however I do wonder how Andy, who couldn’t see well enough to find a shovel in a horse stall, could see well enough to paint with such precision。

I received a copy from Booksprout; this is my honest review。-Worth a 4-star but took one star off: 1。 For people who said godly stuff all over the book, they sure are mighty liars; it's incredible - they should be ashamed of themselves。 2。 Amish people do not believe in spirits coming back (visiting, show signs, etc。)。-I loved how Andy and Lucy got to know each other, taking walks and learning about the birds。-I loved how Andy embraced God's gift to him。 I really liked how he curved it to make i I received a copy from Booksprout; this is my honest review。-Worth a 4-star but took one star off: 1。 For people who said godly stuff all over the book, they sure are mighty liars; it's incredible - they should be ashamed of themselves。 2。 Amish people do not believe in spirits coming back (visiting, show signs, etc。)。-I loved how Andy and Lucy got to know each other, taking walks and learning about the birds。-I loved how Andy embraced God's gift to him。 I really liked how he curved it to make it essential。-I had pity for Lucy; everyone kept pulling at her from one side to the other and making her feel guilty when they should not have。-It was interesting to read about where buildings, rooms, etc。 were situated within the cardinal directions; not that it helped me though。-I thought Lucy's attentions to Thomas' physique was totally shallow。 But Naomi's reaction to Albrecht's was way out of line。-I was completely confused at the end when the wedding took place at the Yoder's place。 Seems weird。 Why there? 。。。more
