Do you have favorite books in the Bible? Proverbs is one of mine。 I like the practical day to day advice。 Today, Joyce Meyer's new book about Proverbs releases: In Search of Wisdom。 In Search of Wisdom is a straight forward book with a chapter on each of the 31 chapters of Proverbs, an introduction and a conclusion。 In the Introduction, Meyer encourages readers to read each book of Proverb before reading the corresponding chapter。 In each chapter, Meyers then shares commentary on verses throughout the chapter。 She also asks questions to inspire you to think about how you are living your life with respect to the wisdom of the verses in that chapter。 Meyer emphasizes how important wisdom is to living a life for God throughout the book。 In the conclusion, she once again illustrates just how important it is。 I appreciate how practical and easy to read In Search of Wisdom is。 Meyer always offers straightforward commentary and does a great job of helping readers understand and apply the Bible to live better lives。 This book would be helpful as a personal study on Proverbs but it would also be good for a Sunday School class or Bible study group。 In Search of Wisdom is a book that would also be good for both new Christians and those who have been Christians for many years。 I think there is always more to learn and study to apply Proverbs to our lives。 I received a copy of this book from the publisher。 All opinions within this review are my own。

The last two commentaries I have reviewed from Joyce Meyer has shocked me in being very informative and entertaining as well。 I am not a major fan of her preaching style, and most of her writings are geared for the female audiences, but her last book on Galatians, and now this one on Proverbs, are not gender oriented。 There is a lot of topics covered in the Bible book, so Meyer chooses seven topics: Wisdom, Understanding,Prudence, Knowledge, Discretion, Discernment, and the Fear of The Lord。 The The last two commentaries I have reviewed from Joyce Meyer has shocked me in being very informative and entertaining as well。 I am not a major fan of her preaching style, and most of her writings are geared for the female audiences, but her last book on Galatians, and now this one on Proverbs, are not gender oriented。 There is a lot of topics covered in the Bible book, so Meyer chooses seven topics: Wisdom, Understanding,Prudence, Knowledge, Discretion, Discernment, and the Fear of The Lord。 The easy to read chapters walk the reader through all 31 Chapters of the Bible book, and focuses on those seven points。One should have their Bible with them and read each chapter before the Meyer commentary, because she does not list every verse nor cover every point -it would be too lengthy。Overall this was a nice aide to have in looking at the biblical writing。For an in depth review, visit my page at : https://lancewrites。wordpress。com/202。。。 。。。more

The book of Proverbs is one that is full of life application, but is often overlooked when we study our Bibles。 I have been enjoying going through In Search of Wisdom by Joyce Meyer as I read through this book of wisdom。 In Search of Wisdom goes through the book of Proverbs chapter by chapter, so there are 31 chapters in the book。 It is like a commentary in a conversational format。 I like the style of the book, as well as that it has me reading a chapter in my Bible before I read each chapter of The book of Proverbs is one that is full of life application, but is often overlooked when we study our Bibles。 I have been enjoying going through In Search of Wisdom by Joyce Meyer as I read through this book of wisdom。 In Search of Wisdom goes through the book of Proverbs chapter by chapter, so there are 31 chapters in the book。 It is like a commentary in a conversational format。 I like the style of the book, as well as that it has me reading a chapter in my Bible before I read each chapter of the book。 It has also encouraged me to dig deeper into scripture using some of my study Bibles。 Each chapter is about 8-9 pages long, so it is not overwhelming to read, and it easily keeps my interest。 Meyer also includes personal stories to keep the reader engaged。 She bases most of the book on what she calls the "seven foundational principles" of Proverbs: wisdom, understanding, prudence, knowledge, discretion, discernment, and the fear of the Lord。Some quotes that stood out to me as I was reading were:"Wisdom waits, discretion and discernment must wait and listen before taking action, and the type of understanding and knowledge spoken of in Proverbs requires waiting and searching。 If we desire these qualities to operate in our lives, we must commit to slowing down。 We will need to stop multitasking and learn to enjoy times of solitude and blessed quiet to think sincerely and throughly about actions we will take, remembering that each action produces a result。""Instead of putting undue stress on people by using your words to pressure them to be perfect or to please you all the time, speak in ways that show them mercy and cover their offenses。""We belong to God, not to ourselves。 He gives us free will and wants us to use that ability to choose to serve him and and to follow His will for our lives。""Walking with God requires trust and patience - trusting God when we don't understand and being willing to wait for His timing in our lives。""Material goods are transitory。 They are here today and gone tomorrow, but God is eternal and everlasting。"If you are looking to study the book of Proverbs, In Search of Wisdom would be a great addition to your study! Proverbs is a life changing book that is packed with practical wisdom, and you will not regret meditating and learning from it, using Meyer's newest book。I received a copy of this book from the publisher, in return for an honest review。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more

In Search of Wisdom, Joyce Meyer has written a brand-new book on Proverbs。 King Solomon wrote most of the book of Proverbs with the except of chapter 30 being written by Agur and chapter 31 written by King Lemuel。 It was compiled over a period of 200 years。 She shared how we can learn a great deal of wisdom from Proverbs。 It discussed how to treat people, power of our words, managing our finances, marriage life, handing offenses, laziness, discipline, and much more。 She begins the book by reveal In Search of Wisdom, Joyce Meyer has written a brand-new book on Proverbs。 King Solomon wrote most of the book of Proverbs with the except of chapter 30 being written by Agur and chapter 31 written by King Lemuel。 It was compiled over a period of 200 years。 She shared how we can learn a great deal of wisdom from Proverbs。 It discussed how to treat people, power of our words, managing our finances, marriage life, handing offenses, laziness, discipline, and much more。 She begins the book by revealing 7 foundational principles found in Proverbs: wisdom, understanding, prudence, knowledge, discretion, and discernment。 She did a detail study on what each of these means and how we look for each of these repeatedly in studying Proverbs。 She explored each chapter of Proverbs throughout the book。 She first defined the meaning behind the word, “fool” and did so in today’s terms。 Basically, it means a fool is morally deficient and makes poor decisions。 Joyce explained how the Bible described wisdom as a she and how wisdom reflected God’s thoughts。 One of my favorite topics was one on the thirty saying of the wise and how detailed she went into each。 She started with Proverbs 22:17-21 and this discussed listening to Godly counsel and trusting the Lord。 We are instructed to be honest and speak the truth and bring back truthful reports to people we serve。 Joyce shared a personal story about how at one time she was asked by her boss at the time to lie for him。 She told him no and she admitted she was worried that she would be fired over it。 She eventually instead received a promotion and she felt like she did because she was honest and refused to be dishonest。 She explained to readers how we all serve someone who we work for。 But at the end of the day, we all serve God。 I would recommend this awesome devotional type study to anyone who is ready to gain more wisdom in their lives。 Proverbs contains vast knowledge on how we can live our lives and grow into the person God created us to be。 I immensely loved how she looked at the topic of the power of our words and how gossip can damage people and relationships。 I enjoyed how she reminded readers to think Godly thoughts and to focus on what we are thinking about because they will eventually become words that will leave our mouths。 We can choose to speak life and hope out unto a dying world。 I also liked how she looked at laziness and people who are passive in life。 She encouraged readers to follow the Biblical principle and that the diligent will prosper in life。 This book will be extremely helpful in applying the wisdom and Biblical principles found in the book of Proverbs。 Joyce Meyer does a wonderful job at diving into the lessons。 I liked how she included countless everyday examples to help readers to understand what they were reading in Proverbs。 This book is a book that is meant to be studied in depth where readers can gain the knowledge and the wisdom that God wants us to have。 "I received this book free from the publisher, Hachette Book Group/Faithwords for my honest review。” 。。。more

life。In this newest work by beloved best selling author Joyce Meyer we find a treasure trove of Proverbs dedicated to enlightening, inspiring, and moving into a new realm of positivity。One cannot simply believe in order to achieve。 It's in the act of becoming that we undercover our true meaning and purpose。We are all God's children。 We were all chosen for a purpose。 We cannot ignore the rule of law nor the life God's planned for us all。There's a reason I love Joyce Meyer and it's because her grace and dignity were not provided on a silver platter but hard fought and earned。 She was abused, neglected, ignored, treated unfairly yet she persevered to the top。I too have a similar belief in that when they go low you go high。 Ergo, why I strongly believe: If God Is For Me, Who Can Be Against Me (Romans 8:31)。I've never said why me, but try me。 It's also important to remember those who do you wrong keep you strong。 God would never leave you。 He would never place you in harms way。 He has provided you all the tools you need to succeed。Don't get bitter but do get better。 Don't get angry, mad, depressed, or sullen。 Don't incorporate someone else's beliefs as your own。 You were made in the image and likeness of God。 He died upon the cross so that you could prosper。 He sees all。 He knows all。 Give it up to God and he will lead you through it。 You must stand in faith and stand firm in your beliefs。I'm always a bit taken back by Joyce's humility。 She never cherry coats but gets real and intimate with her details and portrayals and wrong doings upon her。 She had many who said she couldn't be a Bible Teacher much less a Minister of her own Ministry。Well, I'll be darn guess what folks。。。God had other plans。 I too went down a similar path。 I'm still in extreme poverty and was bankrupt and homeless with three kids。 When I turned to God I sat in the pews of a Catholic Church and prayed daily directly under the stained glass windows of the Blessed Mary。 I believed I could be the only female minister but never had the courage to discuss it。 One day I saw a FB asking for ministers of hospitality to join and volunteer their services。 I did and became the first and only female usher/minister of hospitality at this church。 It was short lived however, when after nearly two years of service I was forced out by a group of angry older white men who felt they were losing their coveted spots to a woman。 I was told by the priest that he didn't recognize me。 The older male ushers that tried to rip the woven collection basket out of my hands。 They succeeded but not before I reported them to the Bishop (or tried as I never was allowed to speak to such a man of high standing) and did report to my Vicar。 He said the men needed time to come around to this new line of thinking。I can't imagine this is the year 2020 when this occurred -seriously-if not now -when?Well, Joyce knows this pain all too well including that of abuse survivors like myself。 We need not be ashamed。 But wear our scars as badges of honor。In Search Of Wisdom shows the true need of thoughtful reflection as noted in the premise: It is important to gain a thoughtful and practical understanding of the seven foundational principles in the book of Proverbs:Wisdom, Understanding, Prudence, Knowledge, Discretion, Discernment, and Fear of the Lord。According to Proverbs: 6:16-19, there are "six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community。"Remember God and the home must always come first。 Set the proper priorities while examining one's life to ensure a life of wisdom, joy, and happiness。 Don't just walk out there with a smile while hiding behind internal problems or strifes。 Be blessed knowing a new day is upon you and seize the day。Find your own like minded individuals and be within good company。 Those who lift you up, motivate you, and challenge your line of thinking。Walk in integrity and know what true integrity means as it's not just when the spotlight is on but when it's off。Speak with kindness and do not speak out of anger。 Ignore those who try to place as words are containers for power, and we decide whether that power according to Joyce is used creatively or destructively。Wise people think before speaking- or most of us- make an effort to try without letting emotions get in the way。In order to attract God's favor won must not be stingy and help others。 Volunteer, donate, give 10% of wealth to the church。 Don't walk away or ignore the plight of the homeless or less fortunate。Strive to sow seeds of kindness as what you put out there will come back to you two-fold。The Book of Proverbs is a much needed guidance for Christians in all walks of life。 It gives hundreds of concrete life affirming lessons that help to serve our Lord while making life a little more bearable and whole。Thank you to Faith Words for this fab read that will be out in a few days。 I hope you find this review helpful。
