This book has all the nostalgia of a 90's animated production not made by Disney。 There are things that come to life before your eyes， and they are often brutally massacred in front of the protagonist child。 It's one of those kids books that doesn't cater to convention， but addresses real issues kids have to deal with。 Namely the loss of a favorite thing， and having it replaced with a new one。 This tale of new and old loved things takes place concurrently with the hero Jack， also struggling to a This book has all the nostalgia of a 90's animated production not made by Disney。 There are things that come to life before your eyes， and they are often brutally massacred in front of the protagonist child。 It's one of those kids books that doesn't cater to convention， but addresses real issues kids have to deal with。 Namely the loss of a favorite thing， and having it replaced with a new one。 This tale of new and old loved things takes place concurrently with the hero Jack， also struggling to adapt to a new Step-Father and Sister。 The parable and lesson Jack learns within apply to both， although I think Rowling is incredibly subtle with that。 I cried a few times。 Rowling has always been able to capture the essence of what it means to be a child， and dealing with the difficult issues of divorce and remarriage in this book， she continues her streak of excellence。 The fantasy world is a bit of a mixed bag。 At times it's delightful， at others it's a bit worn and tired。 It's not entirely a new idea though。 This book is The Book of Lost Things but actually written for children。 It doesn't even stray very far from that story。 Enjoyable！ A nostalgic dark Christmas tale with warmth！ 。。。more

Tohle se mi tak špatně hodnotí。。。 bylo to milé vánoční dětské čtení。 Vcelku hezky promyšlené， ale na spoustě míst vlastně nedomyšlené a nedotažené。 Má to takovou tu rowlingovskou poetiku， ztrácení věcí už bylo téma， o které se otřela v Harrym Potterovi。 Ale tak nějak。。。 bych asi čekala víc， nebo co :D Ale taky musím říct， že se mi to ve finále líbilo vlastně víc než Ikabog， tady je to víc nyny dětské čtení， co nejde přes mrtvoly。
