I keep trying Kerri Maniscalo and I was unsatisfied with Stalking Jack the Ripper and didn’t even finish the second book in that series。 And I couldn’t figure out why because the premise was really cool。 But it’s the same issue as this book。 I’ve figured it out。 It drives me nuts how the book jumps from scene to scene without any wrap-up。 One minute she’s facing down a demon in a cave and the next， she’s cooking in the kitchen with her grandma （who， by the way， is a clumsy character。 Who tells a I keep trying Kerri Maniscalo and I was unsatisfied with Stalking Jack the Ripper and didn’t even finish the second book in that series。 And I couldn’t figure out why because the premise was really cool。 But it’s the same issue as this book。 I’ve figured it out。 It drives me nuts how the book jumps from scene to scene without any wrap-up。 One minute she’s facing down a demon in a cave and the next， she’s cooking in the kitchen with her grandma （who， by the way， is a clumsy character。 Who tells a kid that there’s some huge mystery about their lives and then thinks they’ll never have to explain？）。 It’s a bit like a tv show。 All the boring bits cut out。 But you need the boring bits to understand the narrative and the character。 Oh， I’ll read the next one。 Love the premise and I’m invested。 But the writing style isn’t my favorite。 And for the record， I pegged the murderer in the first 20% of the book。 。。。more

3。5tbh I have no idea how to feel about this book， as it was oddly addicting at times but then other times it was quite boring and confusing。 I liked the main character Emilia and I mean of course I liked Wrath but I’m confused because I think I’m meant to ship them but they barely interacted through out the book and now I’m like huh？？ So I don’t know maybe it will get better in the next one， because this wasn’t bad but there was just something missing from it。

4。5 STARSWitches and demons。 What a fun way to start my October reads。 The book revolves around twin sisters Emilia and Vittoria who are part of a family of witches。 When Vittoria is found murdered， Emilia decides to hunt for her sister’s killer along with Wrath – one of the 7 princes of Hell- whom she was always raised to fear/hate。I was hesitant to read this just because of how varied opinions on it seem to be， but I was completely intrigued by Maniscalco’s building of the world and the realm 4。5 STARSWitches and demons。 What a fun way to start my October reads。 The book revolves around twin sisters Emilia and Vittoria who are part of a family of witches。 When Vittoria is found murdered， Emilia decides to hunt for her sister’s killer along with Wrath – one of the 7 princes of Hell- whom she was always raised to fear/hate。I was hesitant to read this just because of how varied opinions on it seem to be， but I was completely intrigued by Maniscalco’s building of the world and the realm of Hell and how it is devided into the 7 kingdoms of the 7 princes – the deadly sins。 The magic， atmosphere， and scenes were all described so well that it was easy to envision while reading。 I was sucked into this world and didn’t want to put the book down。 Emilia is a strong-willed girl and I love her sass， but goodness gracious along with her stubbornness comes the inability to listen， which causes her to put herself into bad situations multiple times throughout the book because she obviously didn’t learn the first time。 But she’s fiery and I love it。 Let’s see what this bad b**** does next！Wrath is an intriguing one。 I want to know more about him and his background and hopefully we get that in the second book （which I preordered before even finishing this one）。 He’s commanding and fierce and I just want to love him so bad， but with the way the book ended now I’m like “uhm。。 do I love him？ Hate him？ Help me sort these emotions here， brain。” I love love love a slow burn enemies to lovers so I’m absolutely needing to know what’s coming。The ending felt a tad rushed， but knowing there’s a sequel cancels that out for me because there’s more to come。 。。。more

Recommend if you love books about witches， bit of romance and a bit of adventure/action。 The setting and Italian elements are so well done IMO。 Wrath is absolute 10/10 hotness。 @bxromance on Instagram captured their likeness exactly like I imagined Wrath and Emilia。 Only a teeny bit of spice but I liked the angst between the characters。 The magic elements were really cool and I just loved the vibes and settings。

Couldn’t believe I went back to reading YA novels。 The witch and demon world was fairly interesting but there’s just too much going on。 Premise of solving her twin’s crime was good too but again so many other subplots being crammed in。 There were times when I’m just confused as to what’s happening。 A lot of redundancies that could have been edited。 By 80% of the book everything is still a mystery。 Of course just to set up for a sequel like ugh。 Nice try but I guess YA is not for me anymore。

This was a fun book and I enjoyed reading it， but I’m finding it very difficult to rate。 There’s a lot to say。Firstly， the writing style was very engaging and atmospheric， similar to the way Sarah J Maas grabs your attention。 The descriptions of the world were lush and enticing and I felt like I knew what it would be like to be there。 I especially liked being so immersed into an occult world from the perspective of a witch， rather than as someone learning about witchcraft for the first time。The This was a fun book and I enjoyed reading it， but I’m finding it very difficult to rate。 There’s a lot to say。Firstly， the writing style was very engaging and atmospheric， similar to the way Sarah J Maas grabs your attention。 The descriptions of the world were lush and enticing and I felt like I knew what it would be like to be there。 I especially liked being so immersed into an occult world from the perspective of a witch， rather than as someone learning about witchcraft for the first time。The characters were very entertaining。 Emilia is brave and daring and has no idea what she’s doing in a very determined way。 The Wicked were all charming in a very alien way， especially Wrath。 I never forgot that he wasn’t human in a very good way。 All of the side characters were also distinct and memorable in their own right。However， this is ultimately a three star read for me because of the mess that is the plot and pacing。The plot is intriguing and each little scene or discovery feels important， like you’re solving a puzzle， but the pieces don’t quite work out。 I’m pretty sure we abandoned clues altogether or had to make assumptions and logic leaps to follow along with others。 I can only imagine Kerri is playing the long game and hopefully things will make sense in Kingdom of the Cursed。The pacing was also frustrating。 It felt like we weren’t really making much progress for a while and then suddenly a lot of things happened all at once。 It felt like we had what is actually a very interesting and engaging plot jumbled up and spread out at random。 Again， I really enjoyed reading this， but I’m not in a rush to read the next one。 。。。more
