A great storyMae Adams has captivated me again with her wonderful and lovely stories。 “The Letters: A lifetime Foreign affair” is an epistolary novel and I dare say a rollercoaster of emotions。 This collection of letters shows different realities from the main characters´ lives。 Through them you can notice that no matter the obstacles that any couple faces, if there is love, every problem can be solved。 When I was reading it, a novel that I read many years ago came to mind。 Why am I mentioning t A great storyMae Adams has captivated me again with her wonderful and lovely stories。 “The Letters: A lifetime Foreign affair” is an epistolary novel and I dare say a rollercoaster of emotions。 This collection of letters shows different realities from the main characters´ lives。 Through them you can notice that no matter the obstacles that any couple faces, if there is love, every problem can be solved。 When I was reading it, a novel that I read many years ago came to mind。 Why am I mentioning this? Simply because I liked the memories or the messages that both reading left me: Love can move mountains。 It is a poignant but romantic story with a lot of changes in between。 I highly recommend it because of its plot but primarily because I loved the writer´s narrative technique。 。。。more

Love against all barriersIn her book “The Letters: A Lifetime Foreign Affair”, author Mae Adams shares her own personal love story with her readers。This is not an everyday story, since the characters get together to unite two totally different worlds, opposing cultures and lifestyles。I am not particularly fond of love stories, but I could see the beauty in this one。 It must have been really hard for the real characters to confront such adversity just to be together, and that touched my heart。I l Love against all barriersIn her book “The Letters: A Lifetime Foreign Affair”, author Mae Adams shares her own personal love story with her readers。This is not an everyday story, since the characters get together to unite two totally different worlds, opposing cultures and lifestyles。I am not particularly fond of love stories, but I could see the beauty in this one。 It must have been really hard for the real characters to confront such adversity just to be together, and that touched my heart。I like the way the writer puts her ideas together and the loving effect she creates while transmitting her story。Though this is not my favourite book, I could see how many might enjoy this story and I give this title three stars。 。。。more

I loved this reading。 I always enjoy romantic novels but this one has an extra ingredient that makes it very special。 It tells the love story of a couple who belong to different countries, cultures and opposite realities。Through the letters they exchange, we get to know their different daily lives, their happy moments and achievements as well as the difficult situations they go through。 These situations are described in a very real way。I recommend this reading because it is not only a romantic a I loved this reading。 I always enjoy romantic novels but this one has an extra ingredient that makes it very special。 It tells the love story of a couple who belong to different countries, cultures and opposite realities。Through the letters they exchange, we get to know their different daily lives, their happy moments and achievements as well as the difficult situations they go through。 These situations are described in a very real way。I recommend this reading because it is not only a romantic and entertaining novel, but it also shares very interesting aspects of the lives and culture of each of the protagonists。 I could empathise with the story and it reminded me of the relationship a person from my group of friends had and, in that way, I felt the story in the book very real。 。。。more

A bond worth reading about With entirely different lives and circumstances, The Letters brings together the story of two individuals who have found love against all odds。 With remarkable differences in their cultures, the two characters in the story have developed a relationship based on mutual feelings of love and formed a bond that is well worth a story to tell。 If you're looking for a read that is full of emotion and insight into cultural differences within relationships, this is a great book A bond worth reading about With entirely different lives and circumstances, The Letters brings together the story of two individuals who have found love against all odds。 With remarkable differences in their cultures, the two characters in the story have developed a relationship based on mutual feelings of love and formed a bond that is well worth a story to tell。 If you're looking for a read that is full of emotion and insight into cultural differences within relationships, this is a great book for you。 Not only are the cultural differences interesting to read about, but the social obstacles that the two had to deal with during their relationship are informative and interesting。 This is the second story I've had the chance to read by the author and I've been equally impressed both times。 Highly recommended! 。。。more

This love story starts with Hewitt Dayne Adams and Mae Hee Yum two completely different people that will share culture, customs, and countries throughout love letters。 The letters capture the joys and frustrations that come with love while also revealing the deepest secrets of their hearts。 The huge differences between them sometimes will come across and create many obstacles in the way of their relationship。 I started reading this book because I wanted to have a little romance in my daily life。 This love story starts with Hewitt Dayne Adams and Mae Hee Yum two completely different people that will share culture, customs, and countries throughout love letters。 The letters capture the joys and frustrations that come with love while also revealing the deepest secrets of their hearts。 The huge differences between them sometimes will come across and create many obstacles in the way of their relationship。 I started reading this book because I wanted to have a little romance in my daily life。 I am beyond excited to say that I loved it! The fact that this couple was real gives me a little hope, the way love was all over those letters was fantastic。 Lovers nowadays sometimes don’t appreciate what it means to have your partner right next to you。 The differences between them were what at the end made them stronger and the fact that this book is a love poem to the authors late husband is just the cherry on top! Mae Adams is the author and the protagonist of this incredible and touching love story set in the mid 20th century。 Its plot revolves around Mae, who was brought up and raised in a Korean Aristocratic family and Hewitt Adams, a US Colonel。 Their profound love is reflected in the narrative texts and letters that are present in the book。 What I enjoyed the most about these letters is how honest and clear both lovers are about their passionate feelings, about their personal and cultural differences Mae Adams is the author and the protagonist of this incredible and touching love story set in the mid 20th century。 Its plot revolves around Mae, who was brought up and raised in a Korean Aristocratic family and Hewitt Adams, a US Colonel。 Their profound love is reflected in the narrative texts and letters that are present in the book。 What I enjoyed the most about these letters is how honest and clear both lovers are about their passionate feelings, about their personal and cultural differences and about their innermost secrets。 It is a riveting love story which is filled with cultural and social obstacles。 I fully enjoyed reading this highly recommended story! 。。。more

Mae Adams opens her heart to her readers as she reveals the relationship she had with Hewitt Dayne Adams。 She dreamed of him when she was just six years old under her Grandpa's ginkgo tree。 Now Mae meets that man of her dreams, and their love and connection are immediate, but cultural differences make for a rocky love。 Though Mae and Hewitt were nineteen years apart often Mae was the more mature one。I enjoyed reading The Letters: A Lifetime Foreign Affair as much as I liked Precious Silver Chops Mae Adams opens her heart to her readers as she reveals the relationship she had with Hewitt Dayne Adams。 She dreamed of him when she was just six years old under her Grandpa's ginkgo tree。 Now Mae meets that man of her dreams, and their love and connection are immediate, but cultural differences make for a rocky love。 Though Mae and Hewitt were nineteen years apart often Mae was the more mature one。I enjoyed reading The Letters: A Lifetime Foreign Affair as much as I liked Precious Silver Chopsticks。 Mae Adams has a way of uncovering the charms of her culture and drawing her readers into their life。 It was a delight to read。 I laughed at their misunderstandings; their story is spellbinding。 。。。more

The Letters: A Lifetime Foreign Affair by Mae Adams is an exquisitely written love story。 The story is told through letters written back and forth between Mae and U。S。 Marine Corps Colonel, Hewitt Dayne Adams。 Letter writing is truly a lost art and this book highlights this way of communicating。 Not only does this book reveal a great love story, but you will also learn about Korean culture and World War II。 The book flows well, revealing the ups and downs of a relationship through time。 Thorough The Letters: A Lifetime Foreign Affair by Mae Adams is an exquisitely written love story。 The story is told through letters written back and forth between Mae and U。S。 Marine Corps Colonel, Hewitt Dayne Adams。 Letter writing is truly a lost art and this book highlights this way of communicating。 Not only does this book reveal a great love story, but you will also learn about Korean culture and World War II。 The book flows well, revealing the ups and downs of a relationship through time。 Thoroughly enjoyable, this is a satisfying read and interesting memoir。 Highly recommend。 。。。more
