Doceniam przede wszystkim za szczerość， poczucie humoru i dystans do siebie， świata oraz własnego dorobku zawodowego。Woody Allen nigdy nie był moim ulubionym reżyserem， ale też nie był dla mnie postacią anonimową。 Niniejsza autobiografia zrobiła na mnie wrażenie także z tego powodu， że pisana jest w wieku， w którym człowiek zrobił już większość tego co zamierzał， przeżył więcej niż pozostało do przeżycia， udowodnił jakim jest człowiekiem i odniósł największe sukcesy zawodowe。 Nie ma już nic do s Doceniam przede wszystkim za szczerość， poczucie humoru i dystans do siebie， świata oraz własnego dorobku zawodowego。Woody Allen nigdy nie był moim ulubionym reżyserem， ale też nie był dla mnie postacią anonimową。 Niniejsza autobiografia zrobiła na mnie wrażenie także z tego powodu， że pisana jest w wieku， w którym człowiek zrobił już większość tego co zamierzał， przeżył więcej niż pozostało do przeżycia， udowodnił jakim jest człowiekiem i odniósł największe sukcesy zawodowe。 Nie ma już nic do stracenia i nie zależy Mu na zyskaniu czegokolwiek。Jeśli ktoś liczy na sensacje rodem z Pudelka i kolorowych magazynów i nie jest gotowy na rzetelną opowieść głównego aktora własnego życia， polecam omijać tę książkę szerokim łukiem。 Jeśli natomiast chcesz poczytać/posłuchać opowieści o ciekawym życiu nieprzeciętnej osobowości， okraszonej allenowskim poczuciem umoru i ironii z pod znaku Woody'iego， na pewno się nie zawiedziesz。Główna prawda jaka płynie z tej książki， to "żyj tak jak potrafisz najlepiej， bo to ty sam jesteś odpowiedzialny za własne życie i ty jeden najlepiej wiesz jak ono naprawdę wygląda"。Książki słuchałam w formie audiobooka， a interpretacja Artura Barcisia dodawała jej dodatkowego uroku。Trafia do moich ulubionych i jest to pierwsza od dawna pozycja， której lektura/słuchanie budziła moje szczere zainteresowanie。 。。。more

If I'm being honest， I don’t have much interest in Woody Allen。 I like some of his films， but I've always considered him to be strange - as weirdos tend to have more interesting things in their autobiographies I thought I'd see what he has to say。（Allen's relationship with Soon-Yi is more than just strange - he mentions this early on - "I hope it’s not the reason you bought this book" he knowingly quips 。。。）I thought maybe I'd been proven wrong though - for the first 200 or so pages he comes acr If I'm being honest， I don’t have much interest in Woody Allen。 I like some of his films， but I've always considered him to be strange - as weirdos tend to have more interesting things in their autobiographies I thought I'd see what he has to say。（Allen's relationship with Soon-Yi is more than just strange - he mentions this early on - "I hope it’s not the reason you bought this book" he knowingly quips 。。。）I thought maybe I'd been proven wrong though - for the first 200 or so pages he comes across as perfectly normal 。。。 then Mia Farrow comes along。In an instant the mood changes and all hell is unleashed 。。。"Mia’s family was rife with extremely ominous behavior that swelled in the years I knew her。 Drinking and major drug problems with siblings， criminal records， suicide， institution for mental troubles， eventually a brother convicted of child molestation and sent to prison。 Every single Farrow cursed with flaws [。。。] except， it seemed， for Mia。 I was amazed how she could grow up tiptoeing through that minefield of craziness and come out charming， productive， likable， and unscathed。 But she hadn’t been unscathed， and I should’ve been more alert。"This sets the mood for anything Farrow related 。。。 there are no boundaries 。。。"It is no wonder that two adopted children would be suicides。 A third would contemplate it， and one lovely daughter who struggled with being HIV-positive into her thirties was left by Mia to die alone of AIDS in a hospital on Christmas morning。"The book then becomes something approaching an alibi with regard to Farrow's accusations of child molestation - Allen's casual writing style does little to disguise the seriousness of the subject。 This really does contrast sharply with （and overshadows） his almost mundane writing on his actual career。I know nothing about Farrow's side of the story or how accurate （or complete） Allen's version of events is， but Allen is certainly brutal in his approach。 （Remember: This is only his side of the story）This is actually a good book - you won't get any great insights into his career but the account of the Farrow v Allen war more than makes up for this。 。。。more

Life and times of a comic， writer， actor， director and well-worn Manhattan gossip quarry。 Woody's rambling， self-deprecating brand of storytelling unfolds like an onion skin。 He'll start in on a subject and lay the groundwork， then either realize the need for additional context or become enamored with a sidetrack and wander through an off-topic tangent for a while。 Often， he'll distractedly fall several layers deep into this pit of walkabout narration: beginning of a story， distraction， beginnin Life and times of a comic， writer， actor， director and well-worn Manhattan gossip quarry。 Woody's rambling， self-deprecating brand of storytelling unfolds like an onion skin。 He'll start in on a subject and lay the groundwork， then either realize the need for additional context or become enamored with a sidetrack and wander through an off-topic tangent for a while。 Often， he'll distractedly fall several layers deep into this pit of walkabout narration: beginning of a story， distraction， beginning， distraction， beginning。。。 conclusion， conclusion， conclusion。 It probably works better with the author's voice directly in one's ear （my audiobook experience） than it does on the page， because inflection and intonation is such an essential part of his act。 Regardless， his style makes for an irregular， disjointed narrative， with his younger-year anecdotes sometimes leaping ahead by a decade or more， then ricocheting back to the early days to resume the original thought。 He covers a lot of territory， from his first job writing gags in a closet to his big break in a TV writers' room to his large-scale rise and fall from grace。 Award-winning auteur to despicable social pariah in what feels like no time flat， even if the full arc took the better part of twenty years。Allen spends considerable time discussing the whole Mia Farrow / Soon-Yi incident， maybe half the book， which seems appropriate since it's so inescapably linked with his career。 He treads some dangerous terrain， admits fault and casts blame， provides a good defense of himself that casts doubt on Farrow's motives， but fails to position himself above reproach。 No matter how convincing his argument， how vehement his insistence， it's tough to overlook the scandalous truths that were never cast into doubt in the first place。 。。。more

4/5。 Πολύ αυτοαναφορικό -λογικό， αυτοβιογραφία είναι -， αλλά οι λεπτομέρειες για τις ταινίες， τα γυρίσματα， τους συντελεστές， καθόλου κουραστικά και δοσμένα με το γνωστό ειρωνικό-χιουμοριστικό ύφος του Άλλεν。 Κούρασε όμως πολύ το θέμα με τη Φάροου και τη Σουν - Γι， θα μπορούσε να έχει πολύ μικρότερη έκταση。 Γενικά， πολύ ευχάριστο ανάγνωσμα για τους φίλους του Γούντι Άλλεν， αλλά και του κινηματογράφου γενικότερα。

Except the slightly boring first hour， this book consists of two intertwined parts: the story of one of the greatest directors' of all time and the story of an innocent man being accused of child molestation。 Both are interesting， but in rather different ways。Of course， for a man who loves Allen's movies and have seen a lot of them， to hear small anecdotes about how the movies came about， is great。 Granted， his description of the actors and actresses he cast could have been more thorough （and I Except the slightly boring first hour， this book consists of two intertwined parts: the story of one of the greatest directors' of all time and the story of an innocent man being accused of child molestation。 Both are interesting， but in rather different ways。Of course， for a man who loves Allen's movies and have seen a lot of them， to hear small anecdotes about how the movies came about， is great。 Granted， his description of the actors and actresses he cast could have been more thorough （and I get tired of him always mentioning the look of every actress （and perhaps also actor） as one of the most important characteristics）。 Of course， I would have liked to hear even more about what he wanted to achieve with each of his films， but there is enough here to make me happy。 （By the way， I have heard people say that Allen keeps making the same film all the time。 Those people must have seen the same two movies again and again。 In fact， Allen is more diverse than most directors - think of Zelig， Manhatten Murder Mystery， A Rainy Day in New York， 。。。）The story of how he was accused of child molestation by Mia Farrow （and， gradually， by her young children）， then being cleared completely by two investigations， only to see the accusations resurface again and again， is thought-provoking。 It is a story of people being pressured into "regretting" having played in his films and so on and so forth。 The sad and complicating fact is that the woman is not always telling the truth - how simple life would have been if we could just believe every accusation and then go on feeling morally superior。。。In all， I found this an interesting listen。 And I'm looking forward to see the remaining films of his。 。。。more

Siempre será muy injusto valorar una autobiografía porque entramos en el triple terreno de las expectativas: de lo que el autor quería contar， de lo que ha acabado contando y de lo que esperaba haber leído yo。 A mí me hubiese gustado que estas memorias tuviesen 100 páginas menos， que Allen no se centrase tanto en su juventud y que se extendiese más de uno o dos párrafos de cada película suya。 Pero claro， lo que a mí me hubiese gustado leer no es lo que Allen me quería contar。Allen recuerda los m Siempre será muy injusto valorar una autobiografía porque entramos en el triple terreno de las expectativas: de lo que el autor quería contar， de lo que ha acabado contando y de lo que esperaba haber leído yo。 A mí me hubiese gustado que estas memorias tuviesen 100 páginas menos， que Allen no se centrase tanto en su juventud y que se extendiese más de uno o dos párrafos de cada película suya。 Pero claro， lo que a mí me hubiese gustado leer no es lo que Allen me quería contar。Allen recuerda los momentos más bonitos de su niñez， juventud y de su oficio y cómo llegó a él。 ¿Y sabéis qué？ Que lo cuenta muy bien。 Al final de sus memorias acaba diciendo que prefiere escribir a dirigir y eso se nota en este libro。 Es muy complicado estar hablando de ti durante 440 páginas y que no aburras al lector en ningún momento。 El libro es realmente divertido y es capaz de sacarte risas en más de una ocasión， como el gran cómico que es。Pero， desde luego， lo mejor del libro es cuando Allen se mete de lleno a dar su versión sobre el caso Allen Vs。 Farrow。 Y， joder， qué bien lo cuenta。 Muchísimo mejor que algún autor patrio que el año pasado sacó un libro expresamente de esto。 Allen no solo cuenta el infierno por el que pasó， sino que saca reflexiones muy buenas sobre cómo afrontó aquella tormenta mediática， las consecuencias sociales y psíquicas por las que pasan los implicados。。。 e incluso hace que los lectores nos replanteemos qué papel tomamos en aquellos años en los que la polémica volvió cargada con fuerza por el movimiento #MeToo。 A pesar de ser una de las partes de aquel caso， es el que mejor lo ha contado y el que mejor ha expuesto los hechos。 No se debería tener ninguna duda después de haberle leído。En definitiva， como dije al principio， me hubiese gustado que hablase más de su cine y que no dedicase 180 páginas a contar sus inicios。 Pero esto era lo que Allen necesitaba decir al mundo， era lo que necesitaba contar sobre las mujeres que le han acompañado a lo largo de su vida。 Lo he disfrutado mucho， le he escuchado y le he comprendido。 Él dice que no le importa el legado que pueda dejar en este mundo， pero no cabe duda de que ya es imborrable。 。。。more

El cineasta relata su vida， desde una infancia en la que escribía chistes a escondidas por diversión hasta la grabación de la última de sus películas "Rifkin's festival" （2020）。 Con su peculiar tono， habla del mundo de Hollywood y de la televisión， de su familia y de algunas de sus manías。Vaya por delante que no me gustan las biografías， lo que puede condicionar esta reseña。 Si bien esta no es tan cronológica， si que resulta demasiado exhaustiva por momentos。 Tiene alguna reflexión fuera de su v El cineasta relata su vida， desde una infancia en la que escribía chistes a escondidas por diversión hasta la grabación de la última de sus películas "Rifkin's festival" （2020）。 Con su peculiar tono， habla del mundo de Hollywood y de la televisión， de su familia y de algunas de sus manías。Vaya por delante que no me gustan las biografías， lo que puede condicionar esta reseña。 Si bien esta no es tan cronológica， si que resulta demasiado exhaustiva por momentos。 Tiene alguna reflexión fuera de su vida que está bien， pero me ha resultado encorsetada en exceso。 De hecho， sin ir más lejos， el comienzo es de lo más grueso y han sido varios momentos en los que he querido abandonar。Diría， y lo digo sin problema， que es una biografía para los muy cinéfilos de la época。 Prepárense para ver desfilar por sus páginas centenares de nombres de actores y actrices， directores， comediantes y productores。 Para alguien como yo， que no soy especialmente enterado de la materia， la mayoría de los momentos necesitaba desconectar。 Y eso que entiendo perfectamente que un cineasta tan famoso tenga que contar sus influencias， narrar quiénes le dieron a conocer y comentar sus impresiones sobre los rodajes。 Tamibién este último aspecto es otro de los que copan el libro: no habla tanto de sus películas sino de quiénes aparecían actuando y qué sensación les producía。 Allen no se centra en lo que dice la crítica ni tampoco mucho en los planes iniciales de grabación， de ahí que sus montajes sean interminables y hasta decida filmar la película de nuevo en algunas ocasiones。Si bien la gran mayoría del texto trata sobre el cine y el boato de la época， el resto habla de sus aficiones por los chistes - pero qué lástima， es que casi no hay momentos graciosos en el relato， no es algo que el lector que lo busque tiene que saber -， así como de su dilatada carrera de amores。 Habla de sus tres matrimonios， en especial del último， y de sus parejas。 Leer sobre Louise es bastante impactante。 El caso de Mia Farrow ocupa bastante hueco （se puede decir que incluso demasiado， parece casi una crónica policial） y que a partir de ahí no vuelve a hablar de mucho más。 Claramente ha tenido mucho peso sobre el final de su vida y aquí hace su defensa， pero supongo que para tenerlo claro uno debería leer también profundamente sobre la otra parte。Entiendo que puede ser un libro interesante， pero diría que no lo es para el lector general que ha visto algunas de sus películas。 Requiere de un estudio sesudo de las últimas décadas de Hollywood。 。。。more

Filmy Woody Allena jsem míval rád， ale spíš ty jeho ranější， bláznivější komedie。 A samozřejmě povídky。 A i když už ho nějakou dobu nesleduju， zkusil jsem jeho životopis。 Hned od začátku se to rozjíždí frenetickým tempem。 Základ je chronologický， ale autor stále někam odbíhá， přihazuje typické vtipy… a především mění představu brýlatého intelektuála v někoho， kdo v mládí četl pouze komiksy， propadal ve škole， byl sportovec a falešný karetní hráč… a o věci jako divadlo a umění se začal zajímat te Filmy Woody Allena jsem míval rád， ale spíš ty jeho ranější， bláznivější komedie。 A samozřejmě povídky。 A i když už ho nějakou dobu nesleduju， zkusil jsem jeho životopis。 Hned od začátku se to rozjíždí frenetickým tempem。 Základ je chronologický， ale autor stále někam odbíhá， přihazuje typické vtipy… a především mění představu brýlatého intelektuála v někoho， kdo v mládí četl pouze komiksy， propadal ve škole， byl sportovec a falešný karetní hráč… a o věci jako divadlo a umění se začal zajímat teprve kvůli ženským。 Vlastně jediné， co z představy o něm platí， je hromada neuróz。 A naštvání nad tím， že se nikdy neupisoval k tomu， že by měl být konečný。 （A tak hodně pracuje， aby nemusel myslet na svět， jedno z jeho nejméně oblíbených míst。） Je to legrační， je to svižný a navíc to vyvolává i zajímavý pocit doby， mluví se o komicích， které už dneska mimo Ameriku skoro nikdo nezná （samozřejmě s výjimkou bratří Marxových， případně Boba Hopea） a svět v jeho popisu je místo， kde člověk nemůže skoro ani zapadnout do hospody， aniž by potkal Hitchcocka či Mela Brookse。 Jsou tam samozřejmě i přátelství a konce přátelství i lásky a konce lásek。 Všechno je to branné s nadhledem a humorem。 Skvělá jízda。 Bohužel tak kolem strany 200 se objevuje Mia Farrowová a Woody Allen začíná míň bavit a víc vysvětlovat。 A i když se snaží být objektivní， stejně začíná kniha víc působit jako když sedíte s právě rozvedeným známým a musíte poslouchat， jak hrozná byla jeho žena。 Jo， jasně， říkáte si – ale když si začneš s někým， kdo má sedm dětí a každý druhý týden jim mění jména， tak jsi to mohl celkem čekat。 A hlavně – chci se bavit o filmech， ne o tvých milostných problémech。Naštěstí se k nim zase brzy vrací a s tím se vrací i nadšení a zábava。 I když， obávám se， že režijní triky tu moc nenajdete。 Sám Allen píše， že o natáčení ví tolik， že před ním se musí z objektivu kamery sundat krytka。 Má k filmům přístup， že pokud je dobrý scénář， tak to ostatní už nemusí být nic extra。 Co je na režii těžkého？ Najmete dobré herce， natočíte je， jak říkají svůj text a je to。 Jasně， Allen není zrovna Michael Bay， žádní vizuální efekty od něj ani nečekáte… ale tenhle přístup může být částečně osvěžující， částečně nasírací。 Taky proto， že kariéra Woody Allena byla až odpudivě snadná – už snad v mateřské prodával vtipy do novin， takže se pak logicky vykašlal na vzdělání a začal okamžitě vydělávat peníze děláním humoru。 První filmy， na kterých spolupracoval， byly sice hrozné， ale měly úspěch， takže pro něj nebyl problém začít natáčet vlastní。 Jak se zmiňuje， nebýt toho obvinění， jeho život by postrádal veškeré drama。 A ano， i já bych asi měl dát najevo svůj postoj。 Takže – rozhodně ho odsuzuju za to， že mu přijde Charlie Chaplin zábavnější než Buster Keaton a Harold Lloyd。 A že neviděl žádné filmy s Laurelem a Hardym。 Jinak je ale ta kniha vážně fajn。 。。。more
