I love to read fantasy books and I love the books I’ve read from the Riordanverse in general。I was already familiar with the Greek mythology and camp half-blood。 It felt like coming home。 Back to a place where I feel safe。 Back to a place where I meet familiar people。I even found a new comfort character: Leo Valdez。 Does I have to explain it？ I guess not。But the book also broke my heart。 Since I’ve read toa earlier and knew what will happen to them I wasn’t able to read it without the spoilers。

A great start to the series。 As always， you can see Riordans love for mythology & how much how he knows。 I love that his MCs are as always， lovable misfits， kids with real trauma who find healing through a found family and discovering their strengths。

I don’t know why this book gets so much hate？ Yes， the change of characters was pretty radical， but I liked how they were introduced and by the end I even had favorites。 This book is pretty much a copy of the first PJO book， which in parts I felt it was a little repetitive。 Both books fight almost the same 3 monsters， with similar “powers” in some way。 Regardless， I still quite enjoyed reading it， and I like the build-up there is to the story and the next books to come。
