Summary

Think you know the person you married? Think again…

Things have been wrong with Mr and Mrs Wright for a long time。 When Adam and Amelia win a weekend away to Scotland, it might be just what their marriage needs。 Self-confessed workaholic and screenwriter Adam Wright has lived with face blindness his whole life。 He can’t recognize friends or family, or even his own wife。
Every anniversary the couple exchange traditional gifts – paper, cotton, pottery, tin – and each year Adam’s wife writes him a letter that she never lets him read。 Until now。 They both know this weekend will make or break their marriage, but they didn’t randomly win this trip。 One of them is lying, and someone doesn’t want them to live happily ever after。

Ten years of marriage。 Ten years of secrets。 And an anniversary they will never forget。

Rock Paper Scissors is the latest exciting domestic thriller from the queen of the killer twist, New York Times bestselling author Alice Feeney。

Unreliable narrator。 Is the chapel haunted? Who’s the “bad guy?” Plot twists that I couldn’t see coming。 I couldn’t put it down。

Twisted in so many good ways。 Unreliable narrators and sneaky-ass people make this thriller a page turner。 Plus I’m a sucker for books about writers。 “Marriages don’t fail, people do。” A married couple, Amelia and Adam, win a weekend away to an isolated old chapel in the middle of nowhere in Scotland。 They are hoping to save their marriage。 Adam suffers from face blindness and doesn’t even recognize his own wife。 He is a obsessed screenwriter hoping to finally get his own film, “Rock, Paper, Sci Twisted in so many good ways。 Unreliable narrators and sneaky-ass people make this thriller a page turner。 Plus I’m a sucker for books about writers。 “Marriages don’t fail, people do。” A married couple, Amelia and Adam, win a weekend away to an isolated old chapel in the middle of nowhere in Scotland。 They are hoping to save their marriage。 Adam suffers from face blindness and doesn’t even recognize his own wife。 He is a obsessed screenwriter hoping to finally get his own film, “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” made and cares more for fiction than real life。 “Time can change relationships like the sea reshapes the sand。”The chapters alternate between husband and wife and letters that are written to Adam from his wife on each anniversary of their wedding。 The chapel is a place of nightmares and each character has their own agendas and secrets。 This book surprised me and when the twist is revealed it’s a doozy。 Crazy, evil, and unsettling story。 。。。more

Ok, I read this in like 24 hours。 It’s one of those can’t put down, have to see what happens, “what, what???” kind of books。I actually had to go back and reread parts to realize “how did I miss this?” This has probably been my favorite suspense/thriller type book so far this year。 It’s a really excellent example of the genre。I love books that play with perspectives and timelines, this does both。 The setting is gorgeous, and old chapel turned home in the Scottish Highlands。 But things, as they do Ok, I read this in like 24 hours。 It’s one of those can’t put down, have to see what happens, “what, what???” kind of books。I actually had to go back and reread parts to realize “how did I miss this?” This has probably been my favorite suspense/thriller type book so far this year。 It’s a really excellent example of the genre。I love books that play with perspectives and timelines, this does both。 The setting is gorgeous, and old chapel turned home in the Scottish Highlands。 But things, as they do, go awry。 Everyone has secrets and you don’t know who knows what。 The author clearly knows how to write too。 I loved so many of the phrases, it’s very poetic at times。 The very very ending is a little weird, and super interesting。 Like, I want to know how they made that work out。Lots of twists and turns if you love them! I only got one out of like 10 twists lol。 Super good! 。。。more

This book is what happens when you take a mediocre story and add a bunch of unlikeable characters to it。 The first half of the book is creepy and kind of sucked me in。 The last half was ridiculous and hard to follow。I fully believe the author thought the confusion was the twist when actually it was painful。 I want my time I spent reading this book back。

Donna Taylor

Twisty and creepy。。。 Great combination。

Chelsea

The ending felt rushed and unrealistic; the book overall was intriguing, and I really wanted to learn the secrets alluded to in the letters。 Once that information was revealed, I felt a little disappointed。 It was far fetched, in my opinion, but the writing style was engaging enough to keep me reading until the end。

This one got me! Didn’t see the twists coming!

I was not prepared for the plot twist。 The author is just plain genius! Been reading psychological thriller books for quite some time now, and this by far is the best! Can I just say Alice Feeney is my BIAS when it comes to suspense? Also loved His&Hers!!!!

3。5, I suppose。 It had all the right pieces for a great twisty story but somehow I feel meh about it。

This book really did something! All the twists completely got me - definitely one of my favorite thrillers this year! It’s short and sweet, being just under 300 pages, and is worth the ride。 Enjoy!

***NO SPOILER REVIEW***Ok look。 I am REALLY wanting to vibe with this book, but I just could NOT。Hear me out now, this is going to be a quick review with no spoilers。 I absolutely love Thrillers and Mysteries。 I know the stories of that genre can be slow building but that really just adds to the pack of a punch in the end。 Right? For me, the story wasn't predictable, and between Amelia, Adam, and Robin - I could not predict who was writing what in terms of the letters etc。 I'll leave it at that - but when it was revealed it was。。。 just ok? Idk how to explain it。 It just didn't leave me on the edge of my seat, there wasn't a gasp when I found out the twists and the reveals。 The story wasn't boring, and I didn't enjoy the writing and it did flow nicely and it does make you think one thing when really it's another。 But look, take it for what it's worth - the non existent wow factor, for me, is what made me rate it 2 stars :( 。。。more

This was a book I'd read again (hence the 5 stars)。 It is a story about marriage, honestly and lack thereof。 It is also a tale of intrigue and maybe a ghost story。 The beauty was, at first I wasn't even sure what genre I was reading。 When it became clear, I was like "ah ha! I knew it!" But I didn't really know and that was the best part! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Second book pick from my book club! It was okay。 Maybe I just don’t like thrillers as much as the book community says I should。 At 160 pages in I kept wondering if something was gonna happen。 There was so much that could have been great, but it never got there imo。 The twists were good, but everything happened all at once and wrapped up so nicely。 Why? I liked Bob and Oscar。 That’s about it。

Mandy Hykes

Woah!! This is one of the first books I finished and wanted to restart it。 There were so many pieces of the puzzles that I need to put back together again!!

How does Alice Feeney DO it??? Every single one of her books have yanked the rug out from under me。 I am always shocked by the layering that goes into her stories and this one was no different。 And the twist ending left me reeling。 I didn’t see that coming at all! This one is definitely worth a read if you enjoy mysteries and thrillers。

3。5… the writing was not my style, but the plot twist was quite well done

I’m definitely rereading this one。
