Summary

Neither Margaret nor Owen has any interest in getting married。 But in the small Amish town of Birch Creek, where marriage is on everyone’s mind, their plans don’t stand a chance。

Margaret Yoder can’t seem to catch a break。 Even though she’s dedicated to her Amish faith, her wild rumspringa won’t stay in the past, and her mother keeps pressuring her to get married。 To placate her mother and get away from former “friends”, she decides to return to Birch Creek to visit family—and pretend to find a husband。

Like Margaret, Owen Bontrager isn’t looking for a spouse, something that’s hard to avoid in Birch Creek, where an ad for brides in the local paper has brought a swarm of single women to the thriving town。 When he meets Margaret in an unexpected way, they discover they have more in common than they ever expected。 In some ways, they are a perfect match。

Margaret struggles to keep her goal of avoiding romance in order to focus on being a faithful member of the Amish church, and it doesn’t help that she finds Owen intriguing。 Knowing they don’t have a future together; she returns home and gives in to her mother’s insistence that she get married。

Can Margaret betray her feelings for Owen and become a dutiful daughter and wife to the man of her mother’s choosing? Or will Owen find a way to free Margaret of her past by giving her the future they both are surprised to find they desire?

“Fuller brings us compelling characters who stay in our hearts long after we’ve read the book。 It’s always a treat to dive into one of her novels。” —Beth Wiseman, bestselling author

At first I had a hard time getting into this book however that didn't last long。 I feel like this books is for all the ages it teaches some much of what matters in life, forgiveness and finding healing even when Life just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense。 I liked Owen while he was a workaholic and is learning to take life at a slower pace he still seems to be wise beyond his years and yet still torn between young adult and being grown up。 I feel like Margaret had a lot of growing up to At first I had a hard time getting into this book however that didn't last long。 I feel like this books is for all the ages it teaches some much of what matters in life, forgiveness and finding healing even when Life just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense。 I liked Owen while he was a workaholic and is learning to take life at a slower pace he still seems to be wise beyond his years and yet still torn between young adult and being grown up。 I feel like Margaret had a lot of growing up to do from beginning to the end of the book but I feel that the way the author told the story and allowed Margaret's life choices to play just made sense overall。 This book is a good clean read and can be enjoyed by all。 I am not sure if there is more to come but it would be interesting to see what does happen next based on the end of the book。 。。。more

Matched and Married is book two in An Amish Mail-Order Bride series by Kathleen Fuller。 This is a cute stand alone Amish romance that does reference people in the first book, so it is best to read the books in order。 The story is well written and very descriptive。 It was easy to imagine Margaret and Owen as they seek shelter from the storm。I felt sorry for the couple as they are both being pressured from their mothers so marry when they don’t want to。 But it is fun to see how God has other plans Matched and Married is book two in An Amish Mail-Order Bride series by Kathleen Fuller。 This is a cute stand alone Amish romance that does reference people in the first book, so it is best to read the books in order。 The story is well written and very descriptive。 It was easy to imagine Margaret and Owen as they seek shelter from the storm。I felt sorry for the couple as they are both being pressured from their mothers so marry when they don’t want to。 But it is fun to see how God has other plans for them。 I especially liked when Margaret’s father confided in her about the past and his relationship with her mother。I received a complimentary copy of this story from the publisher through NetGalley, this is my honest review。 。。。more

Matched and Married by Kathleen Fuller is the 2nd An Amish Mail Order Bride Novel。 It can be read as a standalone in case you have not indulged in A Double Dose of Love。 I thought Matched and Married was well-written with steady pacing。 It contains realistic characters who have normal fears, concerns, joys, and hopes。 I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Margaret Yoder and Owen Bontrager。 We get to see their friendship develop over their shared love of foraging and herbal medicine。 I did find M Matched and Married by Kathleen Fuller is the 2nd An Amish Mail Order Bride Novel。 It can be read as a standalone in case you have not indulged in A Double Dose of Love。 I thought Matched and Married was well-written with steady pacing。 It contains realistic characters who have normal fears, concerns, joys, and hopes。 I enjoyed meeting and getting to know Margaret Yoder and Owen Bontrager。 We get to see their friendship develop over their shared love of foraging and herbal medicine。 I did find Margaret a bit negative during the first half of the book。 I was baffled why Margaret felt it was wrong to use or investigate the abandoned shed in the woods。 It was obvious it had not been used in some time。 Owen has some great ideas for the family farm。 That type of out of the box thinking is what is needed if the farm is to survive。 Margaret and Owen will need to do soul searching and prayer before a resolution is achieved。 There was a side story focusing on Rhoda Troyer that was quite interesting。 She is lonely with her children married and her husband gone。 Emmanuel, Rhoda’s husband, took off years ago after his crimes were uncovered。 She has not seen or heard from him since then。 Should Rhoda continue to live in limbo? The ending will leave you smiling。 It was great to catch up with the characters from A Double Dose of Love。 Love, hope, forgiveness, and the importance of being yourself (comfortable in your own skin) are featured in Matched and Married。 I am looking forward to reading Love in Plain Sight。 Matched and Married is a sweet Amish tale with a workaholic farmer, a shameful secret, an attentive aunt, a benevolent bishop, a fetching Englisher, adamant mother, and a wondering Amish woman。 。。。more

I just had a very different experience with an Amish book by Kathleen Fuller。 It was Matched and Married。 It was not really what I was expecting。 It was still a worthwhile read in my opinion。 The couple that is the center of the book is not really matched up that I could tell。 Maggie told her mother she was going to her aunt's town to find a husband to get her mother off her back。 The man she meets there is Owen。 They become fast friends as neither of them feels ready for marriage。 The author us I just had a very different experience with an Amish book by Kathleen Fuller。 It was Matched and Married。 It was not really what I was expecting。 It was still a worthwhile read in my opinion。 The couple that is the center of the book is not really matched up that I could tell。 Maggie told her mother she was going to her aunt's town to find a husband to get her mother off her back。 The man she meets there is Owen。 They become fast friends as neither of them feels ready for marriage。 The author uses a few of Deutch words。 Not to many only a few that you can tell what they are by how they are used。 I felt like they were an interruption to the flow of the story。 I did enjoy hearing a bit about the Amish faith。 I used to live in a community with a lot of Amish families。 I felt the story was a bit slow moving。 Since their lifestyle is slower than ours, I might image that could be the reason for the slow pace of the story。 This is the second book in the series and I didn't feel like much ground was covered in the telling of this part of the series。 I am interested to go back and read the first book to see how it compares。 I received a copy of this book from #Netgalley, #Zondervan and #FirstEditions for a fair and honest review。 Thank you! 。。。more

I enjoyed this fun Amish story of two people who didn’t plan on falling in love with each other! Matched and Married is the second book in the Amish Mail-Order Bride series and it is also connected to other books that have taken place in Birch Creek。 If you haven’t read any of the other stories, you should still be able to enjoy this one。 However, if you have read other books set in Birch Creek, you will probably have a lot of fun seeing how previous characters are doing。In this story, Margaret I enjoyed this fun Amish story of two people who didn’t plan on falling in love with each other! Matched and Married continues that streak。 Margaret Yoder is sent to her aunt's home in Birch Creek after her mother sees an ad that the young men of the town are looking for brides。 Margaret has no intention of marrying just because her mother thinks she needs to。 After her wild rumspringa, her only desire is to settle into the Amish life she's chosen and prove to her parents that she is NOT that wild 16-year-old anymore。 Margaret knows she has an uphill struggle, especially with her rule-following mother, so she obeys the dictate handed to her and heads for Birch Creek。 She's met at the bus depot by her aunt's neighbor, Owen Bontrager and she's not impressed。 He's too skinny, his teeth aren't straight, and he's not very sociable。 If he's one of the bachelors this town is offering for marriage, she's sure her heart is in no danger while she's here!Owen Bontrager remembers what it was like to be hungry all the time。 Until their large family moved to Birch Creek, hunger was a constant companion。 Their new farm's fertile soil changed that, and Owen's hard work of running the operation can take much of the credit。 However, working from sun-up to sundown 24/6 (with no work on Sundays, only THINKING about work) hasn't left Owen any time to do anything else。 Yes, he's a workaholic, but no one else in the family - including his father - seems to care as much about the farm as he does。 Is it so wrong to want to make sure his family is never hungry again? On the surface, the only thing Margaret and Owen have in common is their Amish faith。 Margaret is a beauty, and is used to having men tell her so。 Owen's feet are firmly planted in the dirt of the family farm, and he's never had a girlfriend to know how to react to a woman。 When his father forces him to take a week off from ALL of his farm work, Owen discovers that: 1。 He needs to find a hobby。 2。 He's more tired than he thought。 and 3。 Maybe he is in the market for a girlfriend。 Neither Owen nor Margaret is looking to get married, but can they still be friends who explore the countryside together? This series started with some pretty sober books, but now that the Bontrager family is the focus, their lighthearted approach to life shines through。 I also enjoyed "catching up" with characters from previous stories。 That's always part of the beauty of reading a whole series of books! Readers who love Amish romance will love Matched and Married。 You'll be pulling for Margaret by the end (even though she starts out a little spoiled at the beginning, she absolutely redeems herself!) And Owen will also step off the page and into your heart。 I definitely recommend this one! 。。。more

Oh yes SO HOT。 This book was definitely a 5/5 and for anyone who plans to read just know there are strong cultural aspects to this that we may not see often in our own household but even the Amnish culture was just so beautiful。 。。。more
