I’ve read and enjoyed all the other books in the series except this one。 I got frustrated with Mattie and his non stop whining。 He was cruel， insensitive and didn't have any patience。 I felt sorry for Dare: he spent 37 years pining and waiting for Mattie to sort himself out。 I noticed before I started reading that this was a mmm romance。 I found that intriguing especially， taking into account some of the other war lords had orgies etc。 However， the whole thing was very disjointed and disappointi I’ve read and enjoyed all the other books in the series except this one。 I got frustrated with Mattie and his non stop whining。 He was cruel， insensitive and didn't have any patience。 I felt sorry for Dare: he spent 37 years pining and waiting for Mattie to sort himself out。 I noticed before I started reading that this was a mmm romance。 I found that intriguing especially， taking into account some of the other war lords had orgies etc。 However， the whole thing was very disjointed and disappointing。 It was either Mattie/Dare or Mattie/Rory - combine them as a triad and it was a disaster。 There was no chemistry between Dare/Rory: there was only tension and that ruined things。 I was hoping that Dare/Rory would maybe fall for each other too but it never happened。 Personally， I was left wanting more。 I didn’t like Mattie。 Rory was different in the beginning but he changed - the laid back， funny war lord disappeared and in his place was a war lord I struggled to understand。 I really liked Dare - his love for Mattie was undeniable but Mattie’s love for Dare wasn’t convincing。 This one was my least favourite in the series。 The bond between the other couples shined but Mattie/Rory and Dare’s just didn’t reach the same intensity or heights。 。。。more

DNF @ 26%Mathias was insufferable。 This wasn't an M/M/M romance， but cheating， while stringing others along in the process。 What could have been an incredible love story turned out nothing more than a whiny protagonist who played the victim。 One who liked to pretend he wasn't gay when CLEARLY he had a strong sexual attraction to both men。 A disappointing end to an otherwise well-thought-out fantasy series。Also， I noticed a little flub on one of the pages。 When out in public， someone approaches M DNF @ 26%Mathias was insufferable。 This wasn't an M/M/M romance， but cheating， while stringing others along in the process。 What could have been an incredible love story turned out nothing more than a whiny protagonist who played the victim。 One who liked to pretend he wasn't gay when CLEARLY he had a strong sexual attraction to both men。 A disappointing end to an otherwise well-thought-out fantasy series。Also， I noticed a little flub on one of the pages。 When out in public， someone approaches Mathias and asks if he is the Lion Valorian to which he answers yes。 。。。more
