Summary

A page-turning new story from the bestselling author of No Way Out, perfect for fans of Nora Roberts and Danielle Steel! Meet a brother and sister who are drawn into a treacherous mystery through an antique with a dark past, as they race against time to help a single mother and take down a ruthless couple bent on taking control of their family’s legacy…

At first glance, few would guess that Luna and Cullen Bodman are siblings。 Cullen is efficient and serious while his younger sister Luna is a free spirit。 When the two launch their furniture restoration shop/café—an offshoot of the family’s longtime antique business—in an up-and-coming arts center, little do they know their unique talents may be their only defense against a dangerous betrayal。

When Luna gets a strange sense about a piece Cullen just acquired, the two find themselves uniting to solve a mystery that has far-reaching consequences—never knowing there are some who’ll stop at nothing to claim what they believe is theirs。 No matter what, Luna and Cullen know they can rely on each other—and this time, their lives may depend on it…

The book was a fun and easy read。 The characters were likable, but I kept waiting for something more to happen。 It’s a very predictable ending and I usually like a little more twist intern in my books。 I would be interested in reading the second one though to see if some thing different would occur!

Hidden by Fern Michaels is the first A Lost and Found Novel。 Cullen and Luna Bodman are opening a restoration shop and café in the new Stillwell Art Center built by Ellie Stillwell。 Cullen gets a new table in, and Luna has a feeling about it。 Rowena and Arthur Millstone are sure their father wrote a new will before his death, but they have not been able to find it。 They want to locate it and destroy it before it comes to light。 Luna has worked with U。S。 Marshall Christopher Gaines in the past。 T Hidden by Fern Michaels is the first A Lost and Found Novel。 Cullen and Luna Bodman are opening a restoration shop and café in the new Stillwell Art Center built by Ellie Stillwell。 Cullen gets a new table in, and Luna has a feeling about it。 Rowena and Arthur Millstone are sure their father wrote a new will before his death, but they have not been able to find it。 They want to locate it and destroy it before it comes to light。 Luna has worked with U。S。 Marshall Christopher Gaines in the past。 They are attracted to each other, but neither has made a move。 I liked the sound of Hidden with the mystery and the hint of paranormal。 In reality, Hidden seemed more like a romance novel with a little “mystery” thrown in (if you can call it that)。 The paranormal element is talked about, but there is little evidence of it。 The author described things in detail (do I really need to know each detail about what a person is wearing including their perfume)。 We are given in depth background details on Cullen, Luna, and Ellie plus other characters。 There is repetition of information。 There is one bit that seemed like it was copied from one chapter to the next。 Rowena and Arthur are caricatures of bad, rich people。 The romance between Christopher Gaines and Luna was awkward and reminded me of a teenager romance (now that I think about it, the whole book is reminiscent of a young adult novel)。 Luna bumbles and babbles whenever she is around Gaines。 Her knees go weak (I am not kidding) and Luna’s face turns red。 There are uncomfortable phone calls, texts, and in-person encounters between the pair (made me wonder if we had time traveled back to high school)。 The “mystery” is no mystery。 It was laid out from the beginning。 It is obvious how the story will play out from the start。 The first half of the book is telling us about the characters, the new art center, and what the bad guys want and how much money they spend。 I know we need to be introduced to the characters, but it seemed like it just kept going on and on。 There is some action near the end of the book and then it wraps up with a tidy ending。 If Hidden had been done differently, it could have been an interesting story。 As you can tell, I was disappointed。 While Hidden was not for me, I suggest you obtain a sample to see if the book suits you。 We each have different reading tastes。 The best thing I can say about Hidden is that I finished it (I desperately wanted to DNF it, but I never do that)。 。。。more

Overall, a good read。 It was easy to follow the storyline and had decent character development。 I think it may be aimed more for younger adults but overall I did enjoy it。 If you like mystery/thrillers, this was a great read and a quick one。 It’s worth the purchase and read but may not be your favorite that you reach for multipleTimes。 I really wanted closure to the storyline and I was satisfied by the end。

Great start to a new series! As some have mentioned in previous reviews, the character development really evolved。 The story was a bit predictable, but certainly a delightful read。 The plot evolved as the novel progressed, with a few monkey wrenches thrown in, like unreliable internet and extra side characters。 I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, and am especially looking forward to the evolving romance scenarios!

I got this book complimentary from Influenster in exchange for my honest review。 I have to say that this genre really isn’t my cup of tea, but it is a decent book。 Not a big fan on the writing or the way the story is told。 However, the plot and idea of the story is a great one that I think people may love。 It was an easy read and a very quick one so I think this will be good for those who like to read through books quickly。 I am interested in reading Fern Michaels other books in hopes I will lik I got this book complimentary from Influenster in exchange for my honest review。 I have to say that this genre really isn’t my cup of tea, but it is a decent book。 Not a big fan on the writing or the way the story is told。 However, the plot and idea of the story is a great one that I think people may love。 It was an easy read and a very quick one so I think this will be good for those who like to read through books quickly。 I am interested in reading Fern Michaels other books in hopes I will like them more than this one。 。。。more

I have read other books by Fern Michaels but this one was one of my favorites。 The story is about a very rich man who died of a heart attack。 But, before he died he hand wrote a new will that his son and daughter-in-law are trying to find。 Then we have Luna and her brother who have opened a new business where Luna has a coffee shop and Cullen refinishes furniture。 How the four are part of the same story all ties back to "where is the missing will。" I have read other books by Fern Michaels but this one was one of my favorites。 The story is about a very rich man who died of a heart attack。 But, before he died he hand wrote a new will that his son and daughter-in-law are trying to find。 Then we have Luna and her brother who have opened a new business where Luna has a coffee shop and Cullen refinishes furniture。 How the four are part of the same story all ties back to "where is the missing will。" 。。。more

At 27?), and why he bought the house he did。 We read about Luna's make-up routine, and every color of ever cosmetic she puts on。 Chapter 3 bores the reader with details of not only the life story of the woman who funded the arts center, but the building of the center itself, with detailed descriptions of the architecture, including the attached dog park。 Yes, a dog park。 The details includes a passage about a real-life art center that began life as a torpedo factory in 1918, and goes on for several paragraphs。 Completely unnecessary and a waste of a read。 Skip it。 This art center is confusing。 One on hand Ellie (the rich woman who built it) only charges the artists in residence a percentage of their monthly receipts as rent。 But, then the grand opening "proceeds" go to charities。 So, the artists made no money that weekend, even when one jewelry maker had $5,000 in orders, and sales of another few thousand? I also don't "get" what kind of art center this is。 There is a glassblower, a pottery thrower, and a man who makes sculptures from beer cans (I feel a poem coming on, the rhyme was not mine)。 A maker of birdhouses and one who makes wind chimes。 More of a crafts market, with a wine cellar。 Then, our siblings, Luna and Cullen。 They own a furniture restoration business and the hippy dippy Namaste Cafe。 Which Luna oversees, along with her Border Collie。 And, no, he's not a service dog, he just hangs around food service。 Maybe the health laws are different in North Carolina。 I don't see a furniture restoration business fitting in at an arts center。 It's a messy, loud business。 Besides, if Cullen got his first stock from his parents antique shop, shame on him。 You don't refinish antiques like its described he's doing。 Oh, the name dropping。 Mostly designers, some current television shows thrown in。 Okay, we get the "evil money-grubbing" Millstones are rich。 We don't need to read how Rowena, the wife, is "。。。spinning her stack of David Yurman Cable Spira bracelets。" I don't even know what that means, and didn't bother to look it up。 Her husband sits in, not a leather chair, but a "。。。Eichholtz Highbury Estate tobacco-colored leather chair。。。" STOP! And I don't care if Cullen wonders if he should dress like someone from HGTV or the Property Brothers! Novels don't age well when mention current things like this。 Finally, it gets into the story of the missing will。 Oh, we knew long before there was a missing will, we just have to wade through all this mess before getting to the so-called "dangerous hunt" to save a single mother。 Not quite the story I read, but actually, I enjoyed it from here on。 I was thinking, "Hurry up! The Millstones will get to it first!" It was a bit like a comedy of errors though, especially when the two unrelated thieves surprise each other and scream! A bit slap-stick, with Luna holding them for the police by threatening to spray them with a fire extinguisher。 Such a state-of-the-art facility with not much of a security team。This is not my first Fern Michaels novel, and I believe that since she's such a big name things were overlooked or let go, sloppy editing or none at all。 For instance, it states that the U。S。 Marshal is "thirty-nine。。。 two years older than Cullen。" Yet, early on Cullen is said to be "。。。 now, at thirty-five。" Little things like that really bother me! Also, Ellie will be furious that after spending millions on this upscale arts center, the door locks are not up to code。 The outer doors lock from the outside, with no way to unlock them from the inside。 Even one of the thieves notes that this is not code, in fact, it's dangerous and illegal。 But, the author needed a way to force the thieves to be locked inside with no way out。 I'll read the next in the series to see if it gets to the meat of a mystery quicker。 More backstory of any new characters, I quit though。 。。。more

This was my first Fern Michaels book, and I would characterize it as a sweet romantic suspense with slight paranormal elements。 The main characters are a brother and sister, Cullen and Fern。 Fern has psychic abilities, although her abilities weren't a very big part of the story and could have been removed without really altering the plot。 Two villains are hunting for a missing will, because they are (rightly) afraid they've been written out of the will and will inherit nothing if it is found。 Th This was my first Fern Michaels book, and I would characterize it as a sweet romantic suspense with slight paranormal elements。 The main characters are a brother and sister, Cullen and Fern。 Fern has psychic abilities, although her abilities weren't a very big part of the story and could have been removed without really altering the plot。 Two villains are hunting for a missing will, because they are (rightly) afraid they've been written out of the will and will inherit nothing if it is found。 The book is about their search and whether they will be able to find and destroy the will before they're brought to justice。 I was drawn into the story quickly, and enjoyed reading it。 I found the slow-moving romance between Fern and a US Marshall to be endearing。 However the story held no real surprises。 The villains were so villainous, they seemed like cartoons rather than real people, and when they got their predictable comeuppance it felt anti-climactic。Though I liked all the characters other than the villains, overall the book was too much of a slow burn for my tastes。 It would appeal to lovers of clean romance who are after an easy, comforting escape。Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for providing an ARC of this book。 。。。more

*Full disclosure: I was sent this book for free after being named a winner of a Goodreads Giveaway*Normally not something I would pick up and read I found myself not actually minding this novel。 It reminded me of a classic Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew mystery novel。 There was a feeling of nostalgia and I can really understand the appeal。 Sometimes you just need a good old fashioned mystery where nothing horrible happens and the story focuses on the good in people instead of the bad。

Perhaps I came into this book with the wrong impression。 However, when the dust jacket synopsis says “little do they know their unique talents may be their only defense in a matter of life and death” and “Soon, they’re on the hunt for a woman in danger—never knowing there are some who’ll stop at nothing to claim what they believe is theirs” and “and this time, their lives may depend on it。。。” excuse me for expecting (and hoping for) a bit of heart pounding, or exhilarating mystery story。 However Perhaps I came into this book with the wrong impression。 However, when the dust jacket synopsis says “little do they know their unique talents may be their only defense in a matter of life and death” and “Soon, they’re on the hunt for a woman in danger—never knowing there are some who’ll stop at nothing to claim what they believe is theirs” and “and this time, their lives may depend on it。。。” excuse me for expecting (and hoping for) a bit of heart pounding, or exhilarating mystery story。 However, what I got instead was, a pretty unenjoyable storyline, with characters I never really liked or connected with, who didn’t ever seem to act their age, which lead to moments that just seemed completely cringey, and really no mystery or even true suspense。 I felt like I saw little, to no development of the characters past what they were described to be in the beginning。 The same traits and nuances felt like they just kept being brought up and knocking you over the head。 And honestly, it felt like the characters were literally just stock characters that were included to check off a certain box for the story。 Also, I was kind of disappointed that the only growth seemed to be the romantic relationship that, as an avid romance reader, was honestly just not good to me。 There kept being mentions of extreme chemistry and energy between the two, but it takes all book to get somewhere? And then it’s just something that is rather innocent? There’s nothing wrong with a clean novel, but the way things were built up, it seemed, eh。 I read the prologue pages at the library, trying to decide if it was going to be something that caught my eye and that passed, because I picked it up and checked it out。 However, as I got started reading, I just got disappointed。 I was reading several chapters, just kind of waiting for the story to start。 Everything felt like making the backstory, which is definitely necessary, but I had gotten to the point of “alright, so, let’s get on with the actual plot。” When I got basically halfway into the story and it was still just the same kind of thing, I really wanted to stop reading。 But I never really dnf books, especially when I’ve picked them and not been assigned them。 I was also hoping I might suddenly become invested。 Nope, never happened。 I just dragged along until the end, which still wasn’t super action filled or suspenseful。 In conclusion in short, this book was just not it for me。 I found it boring and I found really nothing likable about it。 Well, I think what I liked most is that it’s finally done。 。。。more
