Summary

When talented violinist Freya Winter is chosen to take part in a musical celebration alongside some of the best instrumentalists in the world, she is thrilled。 Performing in front of royalty is a breathtaking opportunity, but her true motivation for traveling to Salzburg is to fulfill an unlikely dream: to meet and train under the renowned Salzburg Maestro, a master musician shrouded in mystery。

Freya travels aboard the Orient Express to practice with the newly formed orchestra in Salzburg, and nothing can distract her—not her mother’s illness, nor her father’s domineering ways; however, when a handsome passenger becomes a regular fixture on her journeys, Freya feels her focus blurring。 Conversation with Erich is easy, and their shared love of music draws them undeniably closer。 But even as they open their hearts to each other, the harsh realities of her family life intrude on the future she’s envisioned, and Freya feels her dreams slipping through her fingers, threatening to rob her of everything she cherishes most。

Loved this book and series! So good!!

Freya is determined and unique。 It is a common trope to have a strong female character try and grapple with her place in historical fiction when women were not often lauded for their independence and intellect。As a woman I love to read about women who found their way in that world and made their voice heard。 However commonly it is done。 Freya is a delightful surprise and incredibly well written。 She is vulnerable and unsure in social situations, she is not outspoken or confident。 Yet, she is det Freya is determined and unique。 It is a common trope to have a strong female character try and grapple with her place in historical fiction when women were not often lauded for their independence and intellect。As a woman I love to read about women who found their way in that world and made their voice heard。 However commonly it is done。 Freya is a delightful surprise and incredibly well written。 She is vulnerable and unsure in social situations, she is not outspoken or confident。 Yet, she is determined to be heard, in her own way。 She yearns to connect with others, but is more comfortable expressing that connection through her music。 She was an incredibly complex, wonderfully written character that Jen made it easy to connect with。Erich on the other hand was a gratifying mystery。 Jen gave us just enough crumbs to guess where she was leading us while still keeping the intrigue of his character。 Erich’s apparent passion to connect is not dampened by his mystery, but heightened by it。 Jen writes their relationship in such a stunning way that each additional layer makes you both smile with content and anxious to turn the page for what happens next。It wasn’t just Erich and Freya’s connection that made this novel beautiful, but the many other people she met on her way that said I see you, you have value。 And those that Freya was able to do that for in return made this more than just a Victorian Romance。 Those moments big and small so well written by Jen made for an extraordinary story! 。。。more

What a beautiful and unique story of a young woman who is quite proficient in the violin trying to prove herself to her father and make her way in the world doing something she loves。 This is Freya's last chance before her father makes her marry someone that can take over his business that he has poured himself into。 Her mother is ill and needs to move and time is not on Freya's side。Given this last chance to play in the Salzburg orchestra and be critiqued and be a possible famous Maestro, Freya What a beautiful and unique story of a young woman who is quite proficient in the violin trying to prove herself to her father and make her way in the world doing something she loves。 This is Freya's last chance before her father makes her marry someone that can take over his business that he has poured himself into。 Her mother is ill and needs to move and time is not on Freya's side。Given this last chance to play in the Salzburg orchestra and be critiqued and be a possible famous Maestro, Freya puts her all into it。 While on the Orient Express she meets a man by the name of Erich who is from Salzburg and knows something of the violin himself。 As she travels back and forth on her time off to visit her grandmother, she and Erich become closer companions and Freya is falling in love with him。This story was filled with music and friendship, courtship and a bit of mystery as well。 Erich does not reveal all of himself to Freya and she can only guess why。 But the ending is worth the journey in this very romantic story。 It certainly kept me turning the pages to see Freya's love fulfilled。I was provided a copy of this novel from the author。 I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own。https://pausefortales。blogspot。com/20。。。 。。。more

Wow! What an excellent ending to the Romance on the Orient Express Series。 With me also being a musician, this story Song of Salzburg spoke straight to my heart。 Jen Geigle Johnson has written such a likable and well-rounded main character in violinist, Freya Winter。 You could feel the love and fire within Freya for her music that she plays。 In fact, it felt as if I could hear all of the music playing in my head as I read the words。 Even though the huge surprise at the end is figured out very ea Wow! The time I spent inside this fourth and final book of the Romance on the Orient Express series was simply some of the best moments I spent in my life。 So many beautiful moments in this book about Erich and Freya。 I was hooked from the beginning and had anxiety about finishing this story。 I didn’t want it to end。 The only thing that would make this book better would to have a soundtrack of Erich and Freya playing their violins。 I would listen to it while laying in my hammock when the weather coop The time I spent inside this fourth and final book of the Romance on the Orient Express series was simply some of the best moments I spent in my life。 So many beautiful moments in this book about Erich and Freya。 I was hooked from the beginning and had anxiety about finishing this story。 I didn’t want it to end。 The only thing that would make this book better would to have a soundtrack of Erich and Freya playing their violins。 I would listen to it while laying in my hammock when the weather cooperates。Though this is part of a series, it is completely stand alone and they don’t need to be read in any particular order。 。。。more

Not quite 3 stars。 Too predictable for one。 And there were other issues, but it was mildly entertaining。

I really like Freya and Erich。 They were great characters and so good together。 Much of the storyline was predictable but it was still enjoyable。 The friendships that were part of the story added so much! While much of the ending was predictable, there were a few surprises。 Highly recommend。

A Clean passionate tale of love and musicI really enjoyed this book。 As a musician myself, I connected with the emotions of expressing oneself through music。 The orient express friendship turned into love was delightful。 I was actually surprised at the end which brought happy tears at their joy。

Excellent story!I loved Freya! I loved the setting: the orchestra, the World Fair in Paris, the Orient Express。 All of it was perfectly done。I figured out the mystery of the maestro early on, but it was fun to confirm that my suspicion was correct and I loved the whole book and read it in basically one sitting (other than getting up for snack breaks。)

I have absolutely adored this series not series:) each book was unique but connected and they were each beautiful。 Freya is a delight! As is Erich! It was fascinating watching her struggles while she tried to balance everything she wanted in her life。 Erich was just diverting and I loved learning about him。 Excellent read and a fantastic finale!

True love of music and the musicianThis book enraptured me so completely, I had to read it practically in one setting。 It truly portrays the life of a true musician and their love of music。 It was lovely to be set on the Orient Express and the beautiful Salzburg too。 It would be even lovelier if it was set to beautiful music you could experience as the story unfolds。 Maybe someday that may happen。

4。5 Stars。 As a music lover I was entranced from the start。 The story flowed like a piece of music。 I loved Freya and her passion with the violin。 She connects with Erich on the train as they are both musicians and their friendship grows to more。 Freya is unsure of her ability at first, she hardly gets support from home, but Erich encourages her。 I only thing I don't understand is why he had to lie to her。 It was fun to have a little mystery but I think it went on a little too long。 4。5 Stars。 As a music lover I was entranced from the start。 The story flowed like a piece of music。 I loved Freya and her passion with the violin。 She connects with Erich on the train as they are both musicians and their friendship grows to more。 Freya is unsure of her ability at first, she hardly gets support from home, but Erich encourages her。 I only thing I don't understand is why he had to lie to her。 It was fun to have a little mystery but I think it went on a little too long。 。。。more

I love a lot of books that I read, but it is rare that I want to reread a book as soon as I finish it (so rare that I think it has only happened twice in the last 5 years)。 The Song of Salzburg is one of those books! I read it 2 times in 3 days… it’s just that good!! The train, the music, their relationship… sigh ❤️❤️❤️

I've been waiting for this book to come out since Until Vienna, and found it to be a very fitting conclusion to the Romance on the Orient Express series。 The musical imagery was strong and compelling and undoubtedly one of my favorite parts of the book。 Although I am no great musician myself, I think anyone with an appreciation of the work that true musical talent takes can appreciate Johnson's descriptions of Freya and Erich。 Ironically, the conclusion of this book is where it fell short for me I've been waiting for this book to come out since Until Vienna, and found it to be a very fitting conclusion to the Romance on the Orient Express series。 The musical imagery was strong and compelling and undoubtedly one of my favorite parts of the book。 Although I am no great musician myself, I think anyone with an appreciation of the work that true musical talent takes can appreciate Johnson's descriptions of Freya and Erich。 Ironically, the conclusion of this book is where it fell short for me。 It was too rushed。 I hoped for an epilogue, or at least some more explanation of the Nicholas character who plays matchmaker in all four books。 I expected this book to tie to the other three better than it did。 As a stand-alone novel, however, all four are fabulous reads! 。。。more

From the gorgeous cover that has a decorative frame around it to that same border being used at the beginning of each chapter, it made this book seem extra special。 Freya says she best communicates through music。 Not only does she do this with an audience, but also by expressing her thoughts and feelings toward fellow musician, Erich, who understands her like no one else。 While I am not a musician (which I think makes this book so well-written), I could see what she was trying to capture in her playing。 “This time, the music swelled and flowed and filled the area around them with a sense of peace。 She imagined a stream flowing through a grassy meadow, wildflowers all around。 The melody trilled and jumped in happy leaps and flowed in a slow embrace until the last note, which she played very quietly。” After their first meeting on the train, Erich gives Freya a card with a drawing of an edelweiss flower on it as he departs。 It was such a romantic gesture and lent an air of mystery that I couldn’t wait to discover its meaning。 I was glad this beautiful flower’s story and meaning was another way that helped Erich express his love for Freya。I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy clean romance stories。 You will find it engaging from the first word to the last。 This is the fourth book in the Romance on the Orient Express, but is a stand alone story。 Thank you to the author and publisher for an advanced reader copy。 I was not required to write a positive review。 All opinions expressed are my own。 。。。more

Your delightful Freya was just such a character for me。 She and I are both music lovers, and while she will forever be the better musician (for she actually loves practicing in a way I have never managed to replicate), I can understand, to a small degree, what it is to passionately work for something even when others doubt you or encourage or push you to do something different。 I admire Freya and her dedication, passion, and vivacity for life。 Naturally one cannot dislike Erich。 A mysterious yet dashingly handsome stranger, who seems to say all the right things and serves as pseudo-mentor, friend, and confidante? Yes, please! He read Freya so well and I loved how he gently pulled her out of her shell and gradually helped her come to see her value and talents。 While I didn’t initially like his secretiveness, I think it was ultimately a good call。 Freya learned more from him this way and grew her self-confidence in a way she otherwise would have been unable。Now, Mrs。 Johnson, while I loved the characters and the story—and so much of that story taking place on the train! What’s delightful setting—I do believe I loved all the musical references and your lyrical prose even more。 Some of the passages were like a line of music themselves, the way they ebbed and flowed。 It was just the sort of writing that carried me away with it。 Naturally the subject of music also helped grab my attention (recall that I am a musician), but subject matter notwithstanding, your writing in this one was simply delicious。 While I still have a rather large backlog list of your books I wish to still read, I am hereby declaring this my favorite of your books I have read。Thank you for this lovely story。 Ever yours,JessicaPS—is there any way we could get ____ story?
