Summary

A smart, modern novel about a woman trying to balance her career, her best friend, and falling in love without crashing and burning。

Nicole Palmieri is married to her job。 As a user experience designer at Virtuality, an artificial intelligence company in Los Angeles, Nicole is at her desk from sunrise to sunset。 She doesn’t have time for a social life (or a love life), but that’s perfectly fine with her。 Until her best friend, Parisa Shahin, announces her engagement and asks Nicole to be her maid of honor。

That’s when Nicole decides to meticulously schedule out the next six months of her life—from her project due dates to her dress-fitting appointments to how many hours she plans to sleep each night。 If she can stick to her schedule, she’ll balance everything fine。 Of course, that’s a really big if。 And after she crosses paths with emerging restaurateur Brandon Phelps, Nicole is feeling feelings she hasn’t felt in…well, ever。 But scheduling time to fall in love might push even the most meticulous plans into pure chaos。

A story about friendship, romance, and balance - and trading external validation for happiness。The main character, Nicole, is a designer at a software company that expects extreme dedication, and she's finally up for a promotion。 Her best friend is getting married, and Nicole is the maid of honor。 And she has just met an amazing guy。 Fortunately, she's used to living a life that's scheduled down to the minute - but when everyone needs her at exactly the same time, she has to decide what is truly A story about friendship, romance, and balance - and trading external validation for happiness。The main character, Nicole, is a designer at a software company that expects extreme dedication, and she's finally up for a promotion。 Her best friend is getting married, and Nicole is the maid of honor。 And she has just met an amazing guy。 Fortunately, she's used to living a life that's scheduled down to the minute - but when everyone needs her at exactly the same time, she has to decide what is truly important。I enjoyed reading this book。 The main character felt like a real person, and the secondary characters were well-drawn。 The world of the story felt real and three-dimensional, and Nicole's decisions felt appropriately weighty and difficult。I wasn't crazy about the love story。 The connection between Nicole and her new boyfriend seemed very superficial; the two characters had distinct personalities but it wasn't clear to me why they were drawn to each other。 (view spoiler)[The timetable of the story demands that their relationship become very serious within a few months of sporadic dating, and when - four months after their first meeting - he ended their relationship because she wouldn't bail on a major work obligation in favor of his work event, I was really not on his / their side。 (hide spoiler)] However, the book is well-written and engaging throughout, and the ending is both fulfilling and sweet。 。。。more

How full is your schedule?A modern day romance takes on twist - how do you make time for love? We all have so many commitments that it is hard to squeeze time for that special someone。In this book, our heroine has to take a long hard look at her schedule and figure out exactly where her priorities lay。

I really enjoyed this one, an interesting look at work burnout with some entertaining stuff about wedding planning ridiculousness。

Easy Quick ReadThis book was real easy going and stayed true to real life situations and decisions we have to make…。do we do what’s best for us or for everyone else in our life? And who doesn’t love a good love story? I enjoyed this a lot。

3。5 Stars - I enjoyed the characters and the background information about the tech industry and all, but there was too little connection between who Nicole was in her personal life and relationships and her work persona。 It felt contrived and ultimately made the book less enjoyable。

Work or Life? The company described in this book was too close to a company I worked for in Fresno, California。 The issues the main character faced were so similar to choices I had to make in my life that I was having anxiety attacks along with her! Ultimately believeable in how she solves her dilemmas。 Worth reading!

Vacation BookI enjoyed this book, though generally I like reading longer books。 Wonder if this author has any other books? Definitely worth looking into。

The ending was predictable。 The book was about the journey there。 Some of the characters were particularly worthy of dislike, the sisters of the lead’s best friend。 In face their nastiness seemed beyond normal and they became caricatures of “the evil sisters”。 Overall my time wouldHave been better spent on something more original。

Light rom-com

I received this book free through Amazon First Reads, and loved every minute of it! Everyone deals with work/life balance, so the plot can be relatable (or may make the reader appreciate their employer when compared to Virtuality!)。 I loved the characters, and especially the best friends relationship between Nicole and Parisa。 I'll definitely read more novels by this author! I chose this book as my Amazon First Reads selection for August and I am so glad I did。 I enjoyed this book a lot。 Nicole Palmieri is a workaholic at a tech company in CA。 She is trying to get promoted and schedules every hour of her day down to the minute。 Then her best friend Parisa gets engaged and asks her to be her maid of honor over her 2 overbearing loud sisters。 And she meets a guy that she likes, Brandon。 Nicole is the daughter of an alcoholic and so she rarely drinks and when she does, I chose this book as my Amazon First Reads selection for August and I am so glad I did。 I enjoyed this book a lot。 Nicole Palmieri is a workaholic at a tech company in CA。 She is trying to get promoted and schedules every hour of her day down to the minute。 Then her best friend Parisa gets engaged and asks her to be her maid of honor over her 2 overbearing loud sisters。 And she meets a guy that she likes, Brandon。 Nicole is the daughter of an alcoholic and so she rarely drinks and when she does, she goes overboard。 She tries to take on too much at one time so she eventually has to prioritize what makes her most happy。 While planning her best friend's Bachelorette weekend in Vegas, and meeting her goals for a project she got herself attached to in order to be up for a promotion。 She goes as far as all nighters at work and keeping a toiletry kit and change of clothes at work。 And for what? The romance was sweet but not the focal point of the book, which was refreshing。 This book is mostly about Nicole trying to achieve a work life balance with her history as a daughter of an alcoholic and work on her mental health。 There were a lot of fun wedding related scenes along the way to balance out the serious parts。 The only thing that annoyed me was Nicole's insistence that she loved working at a company that didn't value her outside her work function。 The sexiness factor was slightly low was it was a fade to black scene。 However I enjoyed this book a lot, especially the friendship between Nicole and Parisa。 4。5/5☆ 。。。more

If you’ve ever struggle with priorities……this is the book for you。 I can relate not only to the character’s struggles but also growing up with similar family dynamics and resulting issues。 Entertaining, while also enlightening, did not disappoint。

BORING。 Trite。 annoying。 It might appeal to 20 somethings with nothing better to read。 I barely got into chapter 2 before deciding it was not worth my time。

EntertainingVery entertaining story line, true to life in this day and age。 The characters are charming。 A light, feel good read。

It was an interesting concept and characters but the execution wasn’t great。 Was a bit choppy and it dragged in several places。 Gave it 3 stars because I liked the story。 Just needs a little help with the flow。
