This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book was very informative when it came to Amenemhat I and his successors。 It's amazing to me as to how back then there seemed to have been a lot of drama and having to prove things to people。 Amenemhat had to have statues just to depict his status and lineage。 It seemed that as time continued, co-regency became the confirmation that a son was born from whoever currently reigned。 But, it did not allow the upcoming ruler to have it depicted as a long reign。 Being that they sometimes only coun This book was very informative when it came to Amenemhat I and his successors。 It's amazing to me as to how back then there seemed to have been a lot of drama and having to prove things to people。 Amenemhat had to have statues just to depict his status and lineage。 It seemed that as time continued, co-regency became the confirmation that a son was born from whoever currently reigned。 But, it did not allow the upcoming ruler to have it depicted as a long reign。 Being that they sometimes only counted their reign starting once their father or grandfathers passed away。 It all seemed pretty hectic and much of other people who were outside the royal family giving input。 The section on Queen Sobekneferu was really fascinating to me。 I wish there would have been more information pertaining to her and her successes。 It amazes me as to how she had to be represented with "a unique costume" because she had to appease her political opponent。 I'm sure she was already qualified in many other areas but in order to appease the people she had to bend。 It is upsetting that even after following the rules she was still criticized just for being a female ruler。 I would have loved to hear more on her and how she handled these situations。 Another great part of this read was the inner divisions of the palace。 I would have loved to have access to the kap and see the way the education was given。 Not to mention the wahy, due to it being the audience area。 I could only imagine as to how and what type of events occurred that required an audience。 It seemed that this was sort of like the khenty, but more business took place here。 This would have been great to read more about to understand how things were being ordered around in the palace。 Meaning, to understand who was really giving the orders and who was just agreeing。 Overall, this text was amazing and I would love to learn more from this area of history。 If you enjoy this particular part of history, then I believe you will enjoy this read。 。。。more
